I'm fixing the 120 Energy, thank you. Regarding the glyphs, I imagine you mean Glyph of Energy, which is not available yet. Same for Improved Slice and Dice, which is a perk you get while leveling to 100.

Anyone know if Shadowcraft is updated/accurate since 6.0.2? I ask because it's suggesting that I switch virtually every gem to either Perfect Piercing Alexandrite or Crafty Vermilion Onyx, neither of which are even mentioned on the gems page of the Assassination guide here on Icy Veins.

Considering the prices of these gems right now (~200g each), I don't want to drop that much coin if either this guide or Shadowcraft is... off.

Nevermind, I think I've figured it out. They both have the same specs, but fit different colored socket.

Jesus, that's confusing.

Yeah shadowcraft seems broken. It's saying to go all haste and crit gems instead of agility gems; while on the left it stat weighs agility at much higher than those stats. Can anyone clarify?

So, ShadowCraft seems to be having some issue with Haste. I don't know if they've fixed it, but in some cases, it overvalues Haste, which is what may be happening to you guys.

Regarding Agility gems, it is important to note that when an Agility gem gives you +10 Agility, gems with a secondary stat on them give you +20 of a stat or +10 of 2 stats. So, In order for Agility gems to be worth it, Agility needs to be twice as desirable as your secondary stats. What happens is that the better your gear, the higher the weight of secondary stats. So, towards the end of the expansion, everyone is almost in full BiS and the value of secondary stats goes up so much that you want to get only that in your gems.

And why is so?

And why is so?

I'm about to go to bed, but I'll try and give you a simple example of why that is, tomorrow.

So, the reason why your secondary stats have more weight when you have more gear has to do with the way they interact together. Let's take the example of Assassination Rogues. The more Haste you have, the faster you attack and the more Energy your regenerate. The faster your attack, the more applications of Poison you get and the more damage you do through your Mastery. The more Energy your regenerate, the more Combo Points you generate and the more extra Combo points you generate through Seal Fate. The more Critical Strike you have, the more extra Combo Points you generate through Seal Fate. More Combo Points means more casts of Envenom, which means more Poison damage through your Mastery.

As you can see, they're all linked together. You increase one, it increases the value of the others in several ways. Agility does not work like this. It simply makes your abilities deal more damage and that's it. It used to give you a bit of Crit, but that is no longer the case.

It might be nifty to add SliceAdmiral (previously SliceCommander) to the Rogue-specific add-ons. Very useful for tracking all buffs/debuffs, energy, combo points etc. Really lightweight and little customization needed.

Thanks, I'll wait until WoD is out to do another pass on add-ons, to make sure they are all properly updated.

Currently Ask Mr Robot Assassination Rogue stat priority is:

Agi>Mastery>crit>Multi>haste

I guess im not sure what build to use! I am currently using Icy veins stat priority.

the biggest issue I see with current tier gear is in geming red gems 10 crit-10 haste for socket bonus, both builds value hast as lowes stat and current gear has many (12) reg gem slots  wouldn't 10 crit-5 agi  be more beneficial  in those red gem slots? Or even forgo the socket bonus and gem strait crit?

Well, I just don't get how it can be anything else than Crit > Mastery > Haste. I've been running a number of sims and they all agree with that.

Okay so you have me geming

Icyviens = Crit > Haste

MrRobot = Mastery > Haste

SCraft = Crit > Haste

but your last comment is Crit > Mastery > Haste

Bit confused

I don't have the gold just flat out swap back and forth, so ill stay Crit > Haste for now.

Don't worry, the difference between 1 type of gem and the other is like way below 1%.

Now I'm even more confused!!!!  If there is "like way below 1%" difference then why all the discussion and why are you "they" sticking to their guns so to speak?  I often refer to these guides for help and this isn't helping.  Maybe instead of stating "stat priority" why not just say after agility it just doesn't really matter?  Finally, I'm not complaining just confused and I appreciate all the hard work that y'all put into these guides, so thanks a bunch!!!!

If I said that in my guides, I would have a bunch of min-maxer coming to tell me how outrageous it is to say something like this. The truth is simply that even in MoP, you could gem all wrong and still do well in raids, because most of the DPS you do comes from properly using skills. Now, this is even more true, because all secondary stats are so close in value.

I haven't played since the very beginning of cata so I just might be way behind. Do assassination rogues not use slice and dice anymore in their rotation? I used to open with mutilate - snd- rupture at 5 points and then every envenom refreshed the snd. Is that not viable anymore? Thanks.

Slice and Dice is now active by default for Assassination Rogues. You no longer have to apply it.

      Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
      We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
      With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
