Affliction Warlock 6.2

On this singletarget priority list:

  1. Cast wow_icon_ability_warlock_haunt.jpgHaunt when:
    • one of the following is true
      • Haunt's debuff is not applied on the target;
      • you have 4 Soul Shards;
    • and one of the following is also true
      • you have a trinket proc;
      • wow_icon_spell_warlock_demonsoul.jpgDark Soul: Misery is up;
      • the boss is approaching death;
      • you have at least 3 Soul Shards (so that you have Soul Shards left when Dark Soul is up)

IF ( [Haunt not up] OR [>= 4 shards] ) AND ([Trinket] OR [Darksoul] OR [boss low] OR [>= 3 shards] )
Right, so basically, If haunt is not up, and you have trinket, darksoul, low boss or many shards, throw haunt. But logically also, as long as you have 4 or more sharrds, spam haunt regardless.

I guess the real question is, Should haunt ever be refreshed while it is still up? How many shards should i keep for a rainy day with which procs and conditions?

I get the feeling that you really meant:

IF [Haunt not up] AND { ( [Trinket] OR [Darksoul] OR [boss low] OR [>= 3 shards] ) OR [>= 4 shards] }

Aka: Dont refresh, keep 2 shards if buffed / low boss, keep 3 otherwise

Please clarify.

Thanks.

Made a mistake here, really meant:

IF [Haunt not up] AND ( ( ( [Trinket] OR [Darksoul] OR [boss low] ) AND [>= 3 shards] ) OR [4 shards] )

If you have 4 Soul Shards and you go through the list of things to check, the only possible answer is to refresh Haunt. So, if you have 4 Soul Shards, cast Haunt, regardless of anything else, even if it means refreshing Haunt very early.

Just noticed a spelling error under the 'Demon' subtopic. The Felhunter is spelled Felunter.

Hey Damien,

there is a new glyph in the current game for soulswap which increases the duration of the time you can safe a dotline as a buff for 27 Sec.. That means you might be able to safe a fresh dotline for about 30 Sec.

Do you see any value there for the shard management, e.g. saving freshdots with agony on 10 stacks, about 15-20 Sec before an add is spawning. The time could be used to generate new shards and it could be a possibility to plan swaps.

Any thoughts on that?

There is merit to using this glyph for what you suggest. The reason why we don't mention it in the guide is that it is a very niche use. Also, the main purpose of what you are suggesting is to add burst damage to your Affliction rotation, but for burst damage, you are usually better off going for Demonology or Destruction. I will discuss it with Gahddo and see if there is any need for Soul Swap explanations in the guide.

Hi! Question: If you have the Tier 5 talent Grimoire of Surpremacy, which upgrades your Doomguard into a Terrorguard, does the Tier 7 talent Demonic Servitude, which states you can summon Doomguards and Infernals as permanent pets, make the tier 5 talent obsolete? What I mean is, will it turn your Terrorguard back into a Doomguard, and same for Abyssals? I haven't played WoD yet, so I have yet to see the changes.

If my Seed of Corruption explodes before I could cast another Seed of Corruption, should I prioritise SoC or putting dots on other mobs?

It will summon a Terrorguard or an Abyssal to stay at your side :)

You prioritise casting Seed of Corruption, if you have a Soul Shard for Soulburn.

.,..

OK so after I've got Corruption ticking on everything I should just DoT everything up with the other DoTs?

Why should you only cast Haunt when you have atleast 3 shards? And how did you calculate the stat priorities? Because when you use the Terrorguard, he doesn't benefit from mastery, but he will benefit from haste. Isn't haste better than?

I don't think it says anywhere to only cast Haunt if you have at least 3 shards available. For the stat priorities, Terrorguard is accounted for, but is not enough to make Haste better than Mastery, especially with more than 1 target. We get stat weights with SimC.

Yes.

Hello! Its written that "Soulburn: Haunt is strong for sustained cleave damage and single-target burst damage. It gets stronger, compared to the other talents, as your item level increases."

Should we at some point change to soulburn instead of demonic servitide(at single target)? and if so, when?

There is a point at which all 3 talents are relatively equal single target. The tier 17 set bonuses play a major roll in that. Once you get the 2pc/4pc from blackrock foundry, soulburn haunt becomes much stronger. It also has slightly better scaling in general than the other talents.

Basically, you don't have to worry about it until BRF is released.

You say in your update from January that haste is slightly ahead of mastery.

I think you should therefore adapt the recommendations for the enchantments. In the current version you still recommend mastery.

Why would you not want to also keep the unstable affliction DOT up on a single target fight? Is it not worth the mana or something?

Glyph of Unstable Affliction Icon Glyph of Unstable Affliction reduces the cast time of Unstable Affliction Icon Unstable Affliction by 25%. This is not a DPS gain. The base cast-time of Unstable Affliction is already 1.5 second, which is the value of the global cooldown, so what this glyph does is allow you to finish your cast of Unstable Affliction faster, but once Unstable Affliction is applied on your target, you still need to wait for the global cooldown to finish, before you can cast something else.

Not true. Works fine.

On the Rotation page you mention in the Soulburn paragraph that you'll never use Soulburn on Soul Swap while raiding, but then you recommend doing just that for both opening rotations. Just a bit confusing. Probably just forgot to edit that out for 6.2, as there was really no reason to use Soulburn-Soul Swap until now.

Its funny how the guide is "approved" by "noname" warlock that not only hard, if not impossible" to find on any top logs, but also does not even have all mythic kills.

Thank you for that! That was a general comment and I've amended it to say that you won't use Soul Swap, except during the pull, the idea being that at the pull, it is important to enter Dark Soul as soon as possible, to have it up with trinket procs for as long as possible.

He's the main theorycrafter of the spec and everyone follows his advice. What more do you want?

      We'd like to introduce you to a game-changing nameplate addon for Season 4 that's essential for excelling in Mythic+ dungeons.
      Tracking every mob and their abilities in Mythic+ can be overwhelming, but this addon excels by replacing standard mob nameplates and cast bars to enhance your gameplay.
      Once installed, mobs with critical interrupts will display a thick orange cast bar, while less crucial ones will show a thinner yellow bar.

      Mobs with less crucial interrupts will have a thinner yellow cast bar.

      Additionally, any mobs that inflict heavy frontal cone damage are marked with an arrow and feature orange cast bars. A voice alert will also prompt you to move by announcing "front."

      The addon further assists by indicating non-interruptible spells that require crowd control with a purple cast bar and a vocal "cc" alert.

      For tanks, if you're not holding aggro, the nameplates of the mobs will turn red, quickly showing you which ones to target.

      There's also a handy visual cue on the cast bar, surrounded by a green border, signaling when you can interrupt an ability and your interrupt skill is off cooldown.

      Ready to try it out?
      You can download Quazii Plater here.
      For setup assistance, watch Quazii's comprehensive video guide.
      Quazii has also created a Mythic+ cheatsheet that details all critical abilities for Season 4 dungeons, available in a text format.

      Players are currently unable to catalyze gear from the Black Temple Timewalking cache into class set piece.
      It's unclear whether this limitation is a bug or an intended feature, but the gear obtained from completing this week's Black Temple Timewalking quest cannot be converted into a set piece using the Revival Catalyst, as reported on Reddit.
      I personally checked this at Antuka and can confirm that gear from the weekly quest cache cannot be catalyzed. I received the Grips of Damnation from the Essence boss yesterday, and found that the item was ineligible for conversion at the Catalyst.

      Here's how you can upgrade your legendary weapons in Dragonflight Season 4 next week!
      This one is for Fyr'alath and Nasz'uro owners. You must first farm 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. However, you can only acquire 1 Antique Bronze Bullion per week from Awakened Raid bosses. The bullion will drop in Raid Finder difficulty too.
      Next week, the cap will be raised to 2 and a catch-up method will be implemented, so players who didn't have the chance to get their first bullion can get it from the weekly quest in Valdrakken.
      Anyway, the soonest you can upgrade your legendary to the base item level of 502 is during the week of April 30th (so next week).
      Once you have 2 Antique Bronze Bullions, head to the Parting Glass in Valdrakken.

      Evokers need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for  2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Once purchased, use the consumable to upgrade your legendary to item level 502, the base item level for Season 4.
      After that, you can further upgrade your legendary using Flightstones and crests. Check out our gear upgrading guide for more info!

      Cache of Timewarped Treasures obtained from Black Temple Timewalking quest this week has a chance to contain Ashes of Al'ar!
      Don't forget to complete this week's Timewalking raid! If you're having trouble getting into a group, create your own one, invite 2 tanks 4-5 healers and around 14 DPS and you are all set! Visit Shattrath, and talk to the Timewalking NPC to queue up for the raid.
      The raid is extremely easy to compete and what's more, you get item level 493 loot along your way.
      Upon defeating Illidan Stormrage and completing the quest, you will receive Cache of Timewarped Treasures that has an increased chance of containing Ashes of Al'ar or another piece of gear.
      Demon Hunters shouldn't forget to get their warglaives transmog arsenal from Illidan and the reputation buff will help you add a couple of mounts to your collection!
