Make your hunter more epic with custom sounds!

The easiest way to add custom sounds to abilities is to use TellMeWhen addon, you can get it here: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/tellmewhen

 

This addon has a huge amount of features, and can be overwhelming to try and figure out, but it's definitely worth the effort, because you can track everything and anything with it.

 

Basic idea is to create a new icon, that will show* on "succesfful cast" combat event, and play a custom sound when that happens.

 

* - you don't really need for icon to show on casts, you only want the sound, so you should check the "always hidden" checkbox. This will not interfere with "on icon show" event. 

 

Here's how it sound in the game: 

 

I've taken the sounds from the Hereos of Newerth game. It's free to play online game, so you can download it, unpack its game files with WinRAR and then use the boatload of high quality sound effects of all sorts.

The sound of activating and deactivating Rapid Fire is actually the part of the WoW, so you don't need to download it, just use these sound paths in TellMeWhen:

Sound\Spells\SPELL_InfraredHeatFocals_On_01.ogg
Sound\Spells\SPELL_InfraredHeatFocals_Off_01.ogg
 
This is just an example of what I'm using. I encourage all of you to seek your own custom sounds that would make your play more epic and unique.

I installed these sounds using WeakAuras and I'm enjoying them.  I don't care for the new muted gun sounds, sounds more like a popgun to me.  I'm new to huntering so I haven't had years to get tired of gun sounds.  If they get too much for me, I'll either remove them or I'll lower the audio level of the sound files.

Okay, here's a heads-up for those who don't like the new muffled gun sounds:

download this .zip file: http://tinyurl.com/k99axoz

and extract it directly in your WoW directory, so the path looks like this: ...\World of Warcraft\Sound\Spells

There will be 6 .ogg files with old gun sounds. 

 

You can also replace these .ogg files with your customs sounds.

 

Note that file number 3 has incorrect name, so you need to fix this.

 

"Spell_HU_Blunderbuss_WeaponFire_03.ogg .ogg" rename to "Spell_HU_Blunderbuss_WeaponFire_03.ogg".

There are some machine gun firing sounds within the client files which seem to be very fitting to Barrage.

Click on the name of the file to get in-game link, e.g.

 

/script PlaySoundFile("sound\\spells\\fx_uni_machineguneffect_cast_01.ogg")

 

This is a macro that you can use to play this sound, but more importantly you can use the file path in TellMeWhen to play this while you cast Barrage. 

 

Just remove every other backslash, so the file path looks like this: 

 

sound\spells\fx_uni_machineguneffect_cast_02.ogg

 

TellMeWhen import: here.

i tryed to use your sound ( http://vocaroo.com/i/s0GrdFHrTkZQ ) for bl on tell me when but i got some issues about it. 

 

I put the sound in tell me when sound's folder ( C:\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\TellMeWhen\Sounds ) and on TMW i wrote the path (C:\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\TellMeWhen\Sounds\bloodlust.ogg) in the custom sound box but i can't hear any sound when bl is up or when i click on the speaker's icon. i tryed to reboot wow but it still doesn't work.

 

Any idea?

I don't think you're supposed to put full path in there. Try using "Interface\AddOns\TellMeWhen\Sounds\bloodlust.ogg".

I haven't tried this before, but I'm fairly certain you can do this with weak auras as well. Just a another option for people who don't want to download a separate addon when they use WA already.

On the Aimed shot sounds, I can get the pull-back to work when I start to cast it but I cannot work out how to get the main bang when it successfully casts :S How do I set it so start the sound after the cast please? :p

Create a new icon on TellMeWhen, then set it as Combat Event, and use "Successful Spell Cast" as event trigger.

There's a lot more neat stuff you can do with Tell Me When. 

 

For example, I use a Combat Event - Aura Placed icon to play a flash freeze sound effect when I freeze somebody with my Freezing Trap, as a confirmation that trap effectively connected. 

 

And I use TellMeWhen in addition to DeadlyBossMods. For example, I had serious troubles with detonating arcane traps on Emperor Mar'gok, so I set up two TellMeWhen icons. One would warn me that knockback-on-death Aberration has low health, so I be careful not to get knockbacked into a trap. Other icon would show and scream "move out of the trap!" each time a trap is cast. 

 

I customize my interface to fix specific problems in my play. 

 

Yeah, probably all of this can be done with WeakAuras as well.

That sounds really awesome, shame i'm not that computer friendly to be able to get all these custom sounds and set it all up, but i'll give it ago anyway, gotta learn somehow eh! I do like the sound of that icetrap one, making that now! :)

They probably can as Krayzito says above:

I don't use Weak Auras myself, so I don't really know how.

Hi, do you still have this "bloodlust!!" sound? Unfortunately it is not possible to download it.
