lvl 100 ret pally talent help

Recommended Posts

so im pretty new to ret pallys and pally class in general and was wondering if anyone had any tips for me with the 100 ret talents.

first whats the difference between final verdict and templars verdict, might be dumb question but all i can see is the divine storm buff .does it also do more damage or scale better?

second is seal twisting worth it i didnt play a pally in tbc or whenever that was used so its completely new to me and do i just switch between truth and righteousness?

third is seraphim bad? i didnt mind inquisition and think it would go well with wings and will only be off for 15 secs before can use again.

ive never posted on a forum so forgive me if this post is bad haha any help would be awesome

Final Verdict deals more damage than Templars Verdict, how ever it also becomes a short-ranged attack and provides you with a 30 second buff that boosts your Divine Storm.

Empowered Seals is the best choise for dps, on paper. It complicates your rotation quite a bit. What you would do is open up on the pull with Seal of the Righteousness, cast Judgment, then go back to Seal of Truth, fill the GCDs with Crusader Strike and Exorcism, then cast Judgment again to get the empowered Seal of Truth buff before you pop your CDs. The goal here is to keep both of the buffs active.

Seraphim fills the role of burst damage.

If you want a simpler rotation, go with Final Verdict. If you want the best sustained damage, go with Empowered Seals, if you want that short but effective burst, go for Seraphim.

If you're talking in terms of patchwerk style no movement single target dps ES could be slightly better than FV, but on paper doesn't translate to in game, and FV pulls further ahead with DS procs, AoE, Movement restrictions, and upkeep. Being able to hit a boss with FV while being out of range for a cleave or something is a huge thing and there's also no guarantee to being always able to maintain both ES 100% during a fight and if you can't it loses its potency.

As a ret pally lately I find myself to off tank, and off heal, using hands on the tank or healer to the point that I cannot do the DPS I normally would, in raid groups this is far less and issue but in DG's and BG's, that is the way its going. So, for me, at this point in time, FV actually is better overall, at first glance it would seem that ES would shine but no, FV pulls far ahead because much of the time I have to move, and so on. Seraphim may be good in a raid setting, haven't tested it enough to say yet, the only potential downside to FV is DS can pull extra mobs, if you are not careful, but aside from that, its the best for the style.

Keep in mind, Final Verdict also converts all of your Verdict damage into Holy damage, making it ignore armor, but be affected by certain resists and immunities (looking at you, Ko'ragh).

I think in a build where you use Seraphim, Holy Avenger, have a Scabbard, and can layer it all properly with AW, the burst would be absolutely ridiculous.  I mean, just wow.

My problem with seal-twisting is that it takes a GCD every time you want to swap.  So, you're in truth, and then every 20 seconds you have to waste 2 gcds to get the Righteousness buff refreshed.  And if you're working progression on in a high-damage phase, weaving in a SoI buff would be advisable, but at the cost of two more GCDs.  It just seems...  Clunky.  I know the buffs are potent enough to justify the weaving, but it's almost like giving ourselves buffs with a cast time (admittedly uninterruptable).

Forum ate my long winded post about this...honestly...I am just too lazy to type it out again. I will simply say that the remark about Emp seals is completely wrong. Please stop spreading bad information. Post like that are why I see some ret paladins running around with Crit gems and enchants. Emp seals is garbage as soon as you get an even half way decent weapon. Again...do some research and stop spreading info that makes people who are just looking for tips look like fools in game with their poor talent choices. /rant off
