Ready for raiding?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My guild is going to do raids on Highmaul as soon as it comes out, and I'm supposed to be healing as a Mistweaver Monk. Normally I can heal for around 15k a second in a heroic dungeon, but my guildies say that their norm is 20k. Now I'm a bit nervous that I'll be letting the rest of the guild down when we start raiding. With this in mind, I was wondering if you could help me analyse my rotation and playstyle to see if there is any way to increase my hps.

(This appears to be linking to my level 90 and I'm not in decent gear anyway)

First off, your armoury won't link because you're on an Oceanic server and Blizzard needs to update the web and mobile armoury for the new Oceanic servers located in Australia. But sometimes, if you're lucky you can load your character into Ask mr robot correctly.

I don't play a mistweaver monk, but briefly looking at the logs, you seem fine.

BUT. What I recommend doing is WAITING until you get into the raids, get some logs then and people on icy-veins can better assist you.

But honestly, do NOT worry about your HPS, as long as people are dying, you're fine. Healing is not like dps, you don't need to top the meters, sure that's nice and shows that you're a good healer. But sometimes good healers don't always top the meters. As long as no one dies in your raids, even if you're bottom of the meters it's fine.

The only exception to this is if say your other healers are pulling between 15-20k hps and you're ALL the way down the bottom at 5-15k hps. THEN something is wrong and either A. you have too many healers. Or B. you need to look at your playstyle and what you might be doing wrong. But small deviation between hps is fine. So as long as you're all within about 5k of each other and no ones dying (except for scrubs who stand in fire, or tanks who can't tank properly, you can't heal stupidity) then everythings fine. I'd say just don't worry about it and do your best to gear up before the raids come out so you can do the best you can :)

You can only do as much hps as the group takes in damage.

If the group is good then there is not as much healing available. Some fights I do 3k and the dk tank does 10k... others I do 40k.

It all depends on whats going on at the time.

It all depends on whats going on at the time.

That is true, it definitely does depend on whats happening. Which is why I said what I did, "as long as people aren't dying, then you're fine"

Second that.

An example: just did a hc run (Everbloom) where I'm looking at the last boss and healing on it, which I thought served to illustrate the point.

I'm doing 10.3k healing, the dk tank is doing 6.2k healing, and then you have some small amounts of healing from two others.

Now if this tank was not such a self-healing beast, I'd be healing more like 16-17k, which I've also done several times, but this illustrates the point nicely. I healed what was needed, and the kill was nice and easy, but the hps wont impress many smile.png

Take your time, try out the raid, and see what it's like, I'd say.

Happy raiding
