Crit vs Versality for frost mage

Recommended Posts

What do you think is better for current content? As soon as it is impossible to hit crit cap now Im not sure if I should have it on my clothes or not? Had anyone managed already to test what would be better?

Crit > Versatility in all situations :)
And it is worth to take it, BECAUSE we can't reach crit cap.

Crit > Versatility in all situations smile.png

And it is worth to take it, BECAUSE we can't reach crit cap.

To more specific. Crit benefits our mastery rather than versatility helping our dps overall. Versatility is simply a flat % dmg increase. Crit increases the 'size' of an ice shard which in turn increases damage.

The reason the state weight on the guide is Crit == Vers is simply due to not being able to accurately place crit all the time. Versatility gains are too small to make it better than crit, but more consistent than crit by nature.

Overall Crit is a better stat choice than Versatility.

The actual reason why versatility has a higher stat weight than anyone on their right minds will pick, is because of the way stat weights are calculated. The Gear Profiles have very little versatility on gear essentially making the relative dps gain per point bigger.

Stat weights are calculated using simcraft which has RNG. You can calculate the average gain by crit (I think we use 100k iterations for stat weights).
