secondary stat question

Recommended Posts

I have two ilvl 630 belts with same agil and stam.

the one has 64 crit, and 94 mastery, the other has 82 haste, 85 multistrike, and a socket i can throw a 35 crit gem into.

im looking for a table of some sort with points for each amount, like

agil = 1

crit = .8

mastery= .75

haste = .6

multistrike= .6

so with this table

first belt                      second belt

51.2 70.5                   49.2  51  28

   121.7                           128.2

* these numbers are completely made up by me*

this is saying my second belt is better, but idk.

because even though an item level could be higher, it isnt always better if it doesnt make up for the amount of crit and mastery it takes away??

something along these lines, where i can find out if it having a socket makes up for it not being crit and mastery, if you guys know what i mean.

thanks in advance.

What you did is correct.  What exactly are you asking for?

If you are looking for stat weights, go sim yourself to fill those numbers in.

If you are looking for a spreadsheet to input this information to.....the setup you have works just great!  Excel ftw

     - If you do input this into a spreadsheet, make sure you add agility to it (stam also if Guardian)

Secondary stats for all specs are close enough that having the extra source of your ideal stat via socket and gem added on top of a regular item's stat budget is going to mean you'll want to use the socketed item. Raids start Tuesday, and everything is going to start being replaced quickly. You'll be operating on a "use the highest ilvl" system for determining what gear you use. Coming up with a system like that won't be useful until you start getting multiple raid pieces of the same item level, same sockets, and different stats for a slot.

I don't want to say that you aren't flat out wrong, BUT if a piece of gear is better by any incremental amount, it is still better.

The way the OP has set-up his thought process is correct (since agi/stam are equal).

Essentially you can make a quick and easy table in excel to do quick math if you get gear in dungeons/raids and determine which piece is best.

For feral stat weights and the item conditions mentioned by the OP, it would look something like:

GearCompare_zpsebf067d4.png

The value of the socket is written as =max(secondaries)*50

Here, if you were to fill the socket with a 50 stat secondary gem (which is what I set the table up for), Gear 2 comes out ahead.

Yea, I'm using a 620 neck over anything I've found in heroics because it has a socket. the 8 intellect to me doesn't outweigh 60+ mastery.

      Right, so today Kil'Jaeden's burning wish dropped for me, my 3rd legendary.
      I have Shard of the Exodar and Cord of Infinity currently - and with the 7.2 changes to Cord of Infinity I don't know what to do/pick/run with?

      Is Burning Wish still going to be BiS with 7.2, the changes to Cord of Infinity on PTR are pretty awesome, and as for Shard - two Time Warps per fight is pretty awesome too.

      So, hence my dilemma lol...
      Forgot to add, I play Arcane.

      Hello!

      I would like to ask someone who is confident enough with their frost DKs to help me out with a few things, hopefully wont take longer than 15-20 minutes in game chat, and meeting up some where.

      All thought i feel i know my char well, i also feel Im not pulling the required dps for my itemlevel and if i can, i want to improve on that.

      Battletag is Desert#2867 and i'll be online pretty much all day (EU, CET), only leaving around 4-5pm for night shift working.

      Cheers for anyone who could hop in for a chat, all the bests

      Regards,

      Bence

      Hey im just starting a shaman and soon 110 when getting new gear should i first try to get lets say 850 + ilvl overall and then look out for mastery/haste as main stat ? ( since alot of people look for GS when inviting for dungeons?) or rather go for the "perfect" stats and lose out on some ilvls?
