A quandary on how to maximize warlock area of effect in heroics.

3 posts in this topic

Fellow Warlocks welcome a new member into your family. I've dabbled with Demonology and thrown curse words around with Affliction in Wrath of The Lich King.

I'm out of practice and I'm in the process of learning everything about my favorite class all over again and my goal is to join a raiding team this expansion. The current state of warlocks is lackluster and some claim that the class itself is cursed with horrible resource mechanics and mobility problems or even outright shattered into tiny fragments and then hastily glued back together.

In spite of this I have chosen Demonology as my method of domination due to the on demand damage, and the perk of transforming into a demon and pretending to be a demon hunter.

TLDR;

Now with all of that out the way I'm in a quandary over how to exactly maximize my area of effect my spells and demons. I have heard that Grimoire of Service is the superior choice in certain situations, but I'm not exactly certain as how to why this is perhaps summoning another Felguard for it's cleave?

In closing I've also heard that having two different Demonology set ups in heroics one for Area of Effect and the other for the Boss encounter. Am I correct in my choice of two Demonology Talent choices?

I think you mean in CMs, you can't change talents or glyphs in a CM but you can change specs so what some have done is have two specs of the same thing but one built talent and glyph wise for single target and the other for AoE.

In a normal or heroic 5 man you can change glyphs and talents on the fly so there isn't a need to waste your other spec.

GoServ is good because the fel guard that it summons comes out spinning, the burst AoE from this combined with HoG and your normal pets spin-to-win is very powerful.

I see thanks Lockybalboa I'll be sure to keep that in mind for the future.

First post here, hello everyone! :)
Has anyone tried going high on mythic+ with affliction, it seems to be pretty baller when it comes to aoe down trash, was thinking of making affliction my offspec just for mythic+ and would love to know if it is worth the second set of gear for it?
Currently going demo impolsion on mythic+

So currently I am playing with Lunar Inspiration, Soul of the forest and Bloodtalons when I go mythic+.
It gives me alot of energy and I get to use swipe alot. But someone told me that I should play Predator and Brutal Slash..
I think feral aoe damage kinda sucks, but still I would like to improve my aoe and play with the optimal build.. What do you guys play with and how do you pull out as much aoe as possible?
      Best regards,
      Pellegrini :)

Fellowship Of Azeroth is a relaxed progression raiding guild on kargath server.  We are open recruiting for all area's of game play.
Raiding: We hold a Standard of conduct and Performance.  Our Raid times are 8pm server (est) to 11pm server (est)  these are not hard times meaning if your late you may still join if a slot is available.  If you must leave early you are not penalized for it.  We are serious about progressing but NOT a hardcore guild.  We are currently ranked 13th on kargath as of 10-03. http://www.wowprogress.com/guild/us/kargath/Fellowship+of+Azeroth

Say I walk into the Eye of Azshara and 6 NPCs are pulled, as a Shadow Priest, what exactly do I do? Do I tab through them all and DoT them all up, then Mind Sear them? Do I just dot 2 or 3 of them, followed by a Mind Sear. Do I even dot any of them and just Mind Sear?
I hope someone can give me a clear and concise explanation of how such AOE would be executed.
      Would be helpful!

I've just started using the Agonizing Poison build and I'm enjoying it, but I'm of course still having the ever-annoying problem of not being able to do much AOE damage.  I decided to try switching to deadly for trash (then back to AP for bosses ofc.), especially in aoe heavy dungeons and it seems to be giving me better results.  I would assume this is due to getting more immediate effects from DP than AP on quick pulls..  Does this make sense?  Or am I just imagining things?
