Death from Above

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I've been looking at some top rogues and at this site's combat guide and I noticed DfA is being picked over Venom Rush for this tier. What's the reason behind that choice? And if you please could explain the proper way to use the talent n_n

Thank you very much in advance, cheers!

It's a slight DPS increase, especially on a lot of fights where there is a second target near your initial one or a group of mobs that need to be bursted down.

It's more to do with a playstyle thing than anything else. DfA is a really difficult skill to use properly; given that you lose control of your character temporarily, you can either end up a) energy capping or b) dead. Given how often Killing Spree ends up with Rogues dead, DfA isn't great.

The reason a lot of top end Rogues do it, however, is because their raids are a lot more organized than the average one. They know exactly when and where they have an opening to use it, and are more capable of not dying to it.

TL;DR they use it cause it's technically better, but Venom Rush is wayyy easier and almost as good

If you wanna play with DfA should you use it on CD (if possible)?

Pretty much, although similar to Killing Spree you should avoid using it when close to energy cap, and hold on to it for a few seconds if you'll get a second target or group of adds around.

Also, obviously avoid using it during phases where there's bad stuff on the ground or other mechanics that will kill you if you can't move (like all of Mythic Kargath)

Hey guys, first post so I apologize for any mistakes I might make.

So my question, discussion, is based mainly around interactions between the 17 2 and 4pc and the 18 2pc, and how that might change based on raid size. So I currently have all 5 pc of heroic 17 tier, and some other either 17 mythic non tier or warforged 17 non-tier, I only wear 4 pcs at a time and just swap out the shoulders for mythic neckbreaker with a socket. However my guild is currently raiding normal HFC, so I was wondering about the priority of the 18 2pc over the 17 4pc. I think in a decent sized raid group that 4 pc even after the nerf is exceptionally strong, and a good mana conservation talent, however due to some RL issues, our raid group has dropped from 16 people to 10-12. On top of that we're a ranged dps heavy group, meaning my chain heals frequently won't get the full benefit of hightide, and hit 7 people. If it were heroic tier I feel that the ilvl boost would be enough to warrant swapping out the old tier, but with it being only 10 ilvls at best, and less for any warforged gear, how the two would stack up in a raid group of my size. In addition, and quasi-related, I've been messing around with talents, and was wondering about throughput questions between EotE and AS. Now in fights where im utilizing my double SLT, then it's irrelevant, thats a huge CD thats worth some small healing increase. However on fights where that isn't the case, does AS jump ahead? And finally, in that case should I go back to glyph-ing RT, because I feel that nerfs the 18 2pc. I know this has been a monster of a post so thanks for any help :D. If anyone wants to just respond to any portion, thats fine, I just felt that all the questions sort of had synergy together in their answers.

Hi there, my holy paladin is Emilianohhgg-Quel'Thalas if you want to take a look.

First of all, Im not a native speaker. Sorry for my english  :/

Okay the thing is that i just got the last week 3 tier parts for my HPaladin and i´ve heard that the best talent with tier 17 bonus set is Divine Purpose but at the same time i know LoD is useless in WoD and i dont like random procs either (mainly becoues i get so focus on procing it that i forget to heal properly)

by the other side i've read that sanctified wrath is another great option if you use it with merciful wrath. Im currently using Holy Avenger and im feeling good. but i fell either Divine Purpose + 4th bonus set or Sanctified Wrath + Merciful Wrath + the 4th bonus.

So now i ask, Wich is better?

      Hello everyone,

Last night we cleared a couple of bosses in BRF with the guild and i got the tier 17 chest piece which looked yummy.

      Shadow Council's Robes

Now this morning i opened a highmaul cache from a mission and guess what.. in it was another chestpiece, yay me.

      Robes of Necrotic Whispers

Now my question is, what is better? Is mythic always better, even when i would get 2 set or even 4 set bonus? And this is normal, but what about if it were heroic then?

The set bonusses looked pretty neat but i don't know if they are worth throwing away the mythic chest for? Secondary stat wise i would say tier piece, but it's less int and stamina too. Please help!

I play a Combat Rogue and noticed that on the PTR Death From Above is getting a ~25% buff to it's AOE.  Now I know that Venom Rush is best at the moment due to it's raw energy regen, however I was wondering when there was a scenario where DFA becomes a dps increase?

I'm not great at theorycrafting but I hope that some people are more knowledged on the effectiveness of DFA?

I really want to use DFA.

      DFA.

This thread is for Feral druid tips, tricks, and discussions in how to best handle the various boss fights throughout Tier 17 including Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry. Feel free to contribute or discuss anything encounter-specific you find from exceptional talent choices to ways to take advantage of class mechanics.

      Talents:
Displacer Beast | Incarnation | Bloodtalons

If possible, convince your RL that going into the stands is not beneficial to the raid (as our AoE damage is pitiful).  That being said, make sure when you are knocked back by Chain Hurl to not be standing too close so that you do get pulled up.

Berserker Rush will kill you.  When the ability is about to come off its timer, be read to run and stay behind him.

Don't fall in the pit....nobody wants to be THAT guy.

      The Butcher

      Talents:
Incarnation | Dream of Cenarious | Bloodtalons

      Tectus

      Talents:
Feline Swiftness | Incarnation | Dream of Cenarious | Bloodtalons

      WATCH YOUR FEET!
Make sure you aren't Rake cleaving the whole time.  Single target whatever the priority is.  Feel free to keep up Thrash though.

      Brackenspore

      Talents:
Feline Swiftness | Incarnation | Dream of Cenarious | Bloodtalons

When the Fungal Flesh Eaters spawn, switch your primary focus to them and if possible, maintain Rip on the boss.  All single target damage (Shred) should be used on the add.

      Ko'ragh

      Talents:
Displacer Beast | Incarnation | Ursol's Vortex | Dream of Cenarious | Bloodtalons

Thrash the Volatile Anomalies...don't worry about using swipe as your other strong AoE classes should be handling them.  As the tank kites the Anomalies into the void zones, lay down your Ursol's Vortex.  This allows the tank to leave the zone (not take excess damage) and have the adds stay put while ranged finish them off.

As the boss moves to the center to gain his shield, be sure to stay back and allow the proper soaker to stand in their place.  You will still be able to attack him at max melee range.

Expel magic:fire should be handled by using DB right before the debuff expires.  Make sure you are not blinking into an area where other people are.
Expel magic:arcane is avoided by standing near the side of the boss.  If you follow the boss from behind, you will likely be caught in the arcane trail and be damage heavily.

      Twin Ogron

      Talents:
Incarnation | Dream of Cenarious | Bloodtalons

Try to keep Rip on both targets.  Prioritize Rip>FB.
Keep your focus on Pol as Phemos often runs away with Whirlwind.

Movement tier talents....it is really your choice.  I prefer Displacer Beast as you can get caught in between some tricky fire lines and simply blink past them.  Feline Swiftness is also very strong here.

      Imperator Mar'gok

      Blackrock Foundry

      Gruul the Subjugated

      Oregorger

      Blast Furnace

      Hans'gar and Franzok

      Flamebender Ka'graz

      Kromog

      Beastlord Darmac

      Operator Thogar

      Iron Maidens

      Blackhand
