DPS Help

Here is a log for a failed Butcher attempt.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/qpw6bCrjN8X7P4LF/#fight=39&type=damage-done&source=15

I know my corruption is a bit low (89%).   What else can I do to improve?

Switched to Destro for the kill

Still not happy with those numbers either.

Thanks and Merry Xmas!

Demonology Butcher (5:12) - 16.3k DPS

1.  13 Demonbolt casts.  With 0% Haste, the DB CD is 40 seconds.  40 seconds goes into 5:12 (312 seconds) between 7 and 8 times.  Each DB cycle for single-target should be 4 Demonbolts.  At worst, 3.  At the very worst, you should have had 21 Demonbolts.  At optimal, you should have had 32.  If you're using Demonbolt, it should be over 30% of your damage.  Your DB usage is as bad as it can get.

2.  Why are you using Touch of Chaos on the Butcher?  There is no way you should be moving that much.  If you are, you're doing something drastically wrong.  Touch of Chaos costs 40 DF to use.  40 x 21 uses = 840 DF.  That's an entire DB cycle!

3.  Why are you using Soul Fire in Metamorphosis with Demonbolt chosen as your talent?  This is a critical mistake.

You're violating just about every possible rule about Demonology.  You didn't use potions at all.  No trinket procs?  What trinkets are you wearing?  Revisit guide, practice on dummies, and go to LFR and practice some more.

Destruction Butcher (5:03) - 19.6k DPS

1.  No 2nd potion.  What trinkets are you using?  You got 0 trinket buffs at all over 5 minutes.  Did you have trinkets equipped?  Please tell me you didn't forget to use them.

Spend some gold and get a Sandman's for the time being.  Two stat sticks aren't going to get you far.

Touch of Chaos I was either flying in the air (being kicked) or burning off excess Fury.   I'll dump out of meta and save fury.

You don't have excess fury with Demonbolt.  Also, set your teleport and use it as soon as he kicks you.  No movement for Warlocks at all.

Unless you have... Idk, a crazy amount of crit, so you generate a ton of imp fury? Or you haste value is at some magic point that I can't see (like, can't fathom the math to point somewhere in particular), it is absolutely not beneficial for you to use any fury at all on ToC on butcher, with literally 0 movement all fight. The only situation where is makes any sense is if you're responsible for the stacks. If you were "flying back in the air", you have a personal teleport back to the spot you started in. Use it. You should not be wasting a GCD casting a spell in meta when you could use that same 1.5 seconds to get back to where you started and cast a much more damaging spell. Learn to exploit your warlock. We've got a big toolkit.

Place portal to deal with knockback. If you're in melee group use eye of kilrogg to place it next to him.

Depending on stack count, I've found portal isn't always up. Also found that I have more success using leap and quickly toggling my meta back off, and using portal as an out. But I have started using leap a LOT.

Do 3 stacks - portal always up until he soft berserks at 30%.  At that point, you lose one GCD - not a big deal.

I actually used KJC on Butcher.  I didn't have enough haste yet to generate enough fury in single target to use AD, so I went with KJC and popped it right before the knockback.  The rhythm of the fight was such that the knockback always came right between two HoG, so I'd pop KJC as I'm dropping the first one. The knockback would happen right as I start my Shadowbolt between them, so it would still cast, I'd be dropping the second as I'm landing, and then get to cast my next Shadowbolt or Soul Fire as I'm walking back into place.
