Need help choosing between chars for Foundry

2 posts in this topic

At the moment I'm not sure whether to go to my Spriest or Warlock for Foundry,

My guild is progressing through mythic and we have our eyes set for Foundry when avaliable. Feeling underwhelming on my Lock I switched to priest shortly after highmaul was released to benefit the guild more, I love both classes but I can't decide which to make my main in Foundry, I'd just like an opinion as to what will be more viable between the two.

Here are their armorys in case interested: Warlock Priest

PS: This is first post sorry if it's terrible

DPS wise it's always a toss up. overall priests and warlocks are pretty close, but priests tend to be strong on single target fights, but weaker on multi-dot fights. but all it takes is 1 patch for that to change so I wouldn't plan a class a month out based on which may be a little bit stronger when a raid comes out.

Both are viable, but personally I would go with the priest over the warlock since that also gives you the option of being an offspec healer.

But also the Warlock community here is much more active than any other class, so we could easily get 10 people to come in here and tell you to play warlock.

      Server: Zul'jin - Horde
      Raid Times: 7-10pm EST - T/W
Celestial Being is recruiting to round out our mythic roster. The core of our team has Mythic experience including top 50 US experience. Mythic experience is preferred, along with current logs. We raid on a brief schedule and expect people prepared to progress.
      Current Needs:
      Priest - All Specs
      Shaman - Elemental/Enhancement
      Druid - Feral
      Paladin - Ret
Exceptional players of all classes will be considered, feel free to discuss.
      Please contact for more information.

Nothing To Lose is recruiting exceptional players for Mythic Emerald Nightmare and Legion progression.
Raid times are 7-11pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday and Friday nights.

We are mainly interested in Ranged DPS at the moment, however
we are always willing to accept talented and experienced raiders.
The following classes would be highly preferred:
      -Mage (Fire)
      -Priest (Shadow)
      -Druid (Balance)

For Mythic content, we expect our raiders to be consistent both in their attendance and performance. We are a generally laid back and sarcastic crowd, but our 20 spots will be filled by those who:
-Show up on time with full consumables
-Know the ins and outs of their class
      -Know the boss mechanics
-Push their numbers to highest possible in their spec.

<NTL> has been on Cho'Gall since the Burning Crusade, and we intend to be around through Legion and beyond. Join us for some !@#$-talking, meter-whoring, and good old-fashioned purps.

The easiest way to apply is to contact myself (GM) directly via PM or in-game mail.

So on paper this thing seems pretty damn good (if mana isn't going to be an issue).
I got one last night and it very quickly became apparent that the proc is often difficult to utilize optimally. I'm often casting penance right after applying a bunch of atonements and I'll follow it up with a chain of Smites. Because of the way latency works and the best practice of pre-casting just before your gcd completes, it often happens that I cast a Smite, the belt procs and Penance is taken off cooldown, but I'm already casting another Smite because by the time the server gets back to me and tells me Penance is off cooldown, even though it's technically happening instantly when Smite finishes, it's too late and I'm casting something else already. So that GCD is much less effective than it technically could have been.
Because Penance is on such a short cooldown anyways, this often happens when it's one GCD away from coming off cooldown, so the proc itself is completely wasted and it just feels crappy to watch that happen.
Is there any trick, addon or macro I can use to reduce the frequency of this happening, besides waiting half a second after every Smite just to see if the belt procced before using my next spell? Or should I just accept that my Penances are very often going to be used one GCD later than they theoretically could have been?
First world problems, I know, but it would be really cool if I had a way to capitalize on every proc the moment it happens.

I am an Affliction Warlock, and my brother is a Marksmanship Hunter. Currently, we're sitting at about 850 ilvl average, both easily pulling over 200k DPS on a consistent basis. We both have a good amount of experience with the game, as we've been playing since Burning Crusade. We're both on Bloodscalp on the Horde, so looking for any guilds on that server or the connected ones (Boulderfist, Dunemaul, Maiev, Stonemaul).
We're both looking for a new guild for progression raiding and PvP. While we're interested in PvE (particularly in progression), we spend a good amount of our time doing PvP. Our current guild, sad to say, does not have any PvPers, and the core few who wish to raid at the moment are not strong enough players altogether to pull forward, so we're at a bit of a dead end.
Both my brother and I are good at the game, and want to be apart of a group that can make full use out of what we have to offer. We are available primarily in the early evenings (between 5 pm and 10 pm CST), as both of us work during the day. We're both in our late-20's, so we're only looking to join a guild with mature players.
