WW DPS

15 posts in this topic

Hey all, I'm just looking for advice with my WW. I ran through the first two bosses of normal, and we got stuck on Brackenspore due to the moss being an issue and I just decided to call it there for myself and save my gold on repairs when we have DPS doing sub 15k and the flamethrowers kept overheating :\

So basically I wanna know how I'm doing.

Here are some logs

Here is my armoury

thanks for the advice!

(also, as a note I got bladefist after killing Kargath, also what would you recommend I enchant it with (gold shouldn't be an issue as I know an enchanter))

I would put Mark of the Frostwolf on the bladefist, especially if gold is no problem.

The biggest problem is your Tiger Power keep falling off, on Kargath it's understandable since you were on crowd group ,but you should (of course) avoid it, .

You missed having the buff your whole opener on The butcher, and it fell off once later during that fight.

On brackenspore it kept falling off as well, so that is absolutely something you should work on!

What helps as well is pre-potting, and using a second pot mid-fight. Hardly anyone in your raid is! It's 1K agility/strength/int for the whole team during periods of time. If you go from nobody potting to everyone potting, the difference will be enormous.

Other than that I see no real fault, since it's raid night I haven't really checked extremely thoroughly if you used RSK and FoF on CD, but it looks like that's what you're doing, based on a quick clance. Energizing Brew could be used more often if I'm being pointy but it's not a major issue.

Few notes about openers as well, the butcher looked messy there. There's a good thread about this here http://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/8194-how-do-you-optimally-open-up-as-a-windwalker/in which Dolzzy posted this opener:

What I tend to do on opener is make sure you start off with 4 or 5 chi

Pre Pot on 1
Chi Wave while running to the boss
Use Xuen
Rsk
Jab
TP
Use Chi Brew
BK
Use Chi Brew
BK
By now you can have anywhere from 6-11 stacks of TEB.
Pop TEB
Rsk
FoF, then when you reach 10 seconds of your TEB duration use Serenity and spam BK the whole time serenity is up. If you got the timing right you can stingy a Rsk at the end of it.

okay, thanks a lot for that. Yeah my openers suck, I realise that and had poor luck finding how to properly open up, so thanks for that. And I did think my tiger power looked a bit low, but since I'm kinda new to windwalking (started near the VERY end of MoP and never got too serious with it) I wasn't too sure if that was acceptable. I'll definitely work on that.

when my enchanting-buddy gets his 5 secrets of enchanting thingy he's gonna buy out the MoF recipe for me and put that on the bladefist, but in the meantime he gave me a shattered hand just so there's *SOMETHING* there. I figured since it was a decent ilvl weapon the more expensive enchant wouldn't be wasted (no way would I put that on a 630, even when gold and mats aren't an issue).

I wasn't pre-potting because it was A. a pug and B. I didn't have pots on me (at least not agi ones, I have armour ones because I do solo-stuff on the side as a brewmaster) and there weren't any in the guild bank currently because I guess someone had taken them (which is fair, they're there to be used) so I've stocked that up now and will keep pots on me since I know I can do decent windwalker dps so I don't feel so bad potting.
I pretty much did RSK and FoF on CD, maybe a few seconds delay (specially with FoF on Butcher since it times really bad with bounding cleave >.>) I don't know if that's bad to delay if there's no reason to delay? (obviously it'll be okay to delay if it's not even gonna hit the target!) Energizing brew I know I could work on, I even wasted chi during it trying not to energy cap.
CRAP, I didn't even realise I didn't have tiger power up during opener on Butcher... I guess I'm gonna need to make a big obnoxious weak aura saying "Hey idiot tiger powers dropped" since I guess my one tracking it already isn't quiet enough.
Brackenspore was messy, one pull I had to pick up a flamethrower(no one else in the entire raid new what to do with it, hence why wiping to moss! (I do flamethrowers pretty much all the time on my hunter, which is how I know how to do it, but on that particular pull it messed me up a bit because I don't share keybinds with characters and didn't have extra action button bound on my monk(I do now!) which threw me off with burning the moss) which completely threw me off my DPS.
But thanks for looking over the logs and giving me a few pointers, even if it was just a quick look.

I use this for my WW. The rest elvui tracking is good enough for me.

I don't know if that's bad to delay if there's no reason to delay?

If there is no reason to delay FoF, yes it's bad!

If the FoF is gonna get interrupted somehow (like on the butcher), or if you're seconds away from trinket proc then you can delay it, but otherwise you want to do it as often as you can.

Okay, so don't delay it unless it's the Butcher scenario. What about RSK? Is it okay to delay that when the debuff is up, or would you still wanna use it on CD? So for example, FoF and RSK are off CD, you have the RSK debuff up still, would it be okay to FoF then RSK? (assuming there's probably going to be a jab in there to get the chi for it) and if the debuff *DOES* drop somehow, how important is getting that back up again? Would it take priority over FoF?

You want to maintain your buffs 100%.

I plan ahead so that if RSK and FoF are going to come off cd almost at the same time and TP is close i get 5 chi in preparation then its just RSK > Jab > TP > TeB >FoF.

Or even save a chi brew charge if you have that talented.

Okay, so RSK debuff over everything else, but if RSK comes off CD with FoF and the debuff still has the duration of FoF you would FoF > RSK? (assuming at 5 chi, otherwise it'd be FoF>Jab>Chi).

FoF does more damage than RSK

Okay. So FoF over RSK when the RSK debuff is up? If the debuff has dropped RSK>FoF?

If the debuff has dropped

Your doing it wrong :P

It shouldnt ever drop as the debuff is longer than the CD of RSK.

Plan ahead and use your 5 chi bank wisely.

If it did drop and RSK and FoF came off cd i would RSK > Jab > FoF

Okay :P

(There's also the fact of adds, I.E Brackenspore's Fungal Flesh Eater, so it might not even be the case of it's dropped off)

If you have to switch target and RSK is on CD but FoF is ready, just use FoF.

Unless RSK is just about to be ready (1-2 seconds isch), in which case bank Chi for RSK and then FoF right after.

You also have the option to SEF the add, and FoF your old target. So you'll stay with the 10% buff, (I guess 7% since we deal 70% damage when split) and then do the old switcharoo and target the add instead, as RSK is ready again (because interrupts and Touch of Death).

Adds tend to move though, and our clones with FoF don't, so this might end up worse. Especially so if you mess up with the clone

Yeah, FoF glyph is finicky, because A. clones don't copy it. And B. if you get knocked back (I.E Tectus pillars because you were stupid and stood in them) then FoF gets cancelled. It's like that for disc priests with glyph of penance and it's REALLY annoying because hey I can do this whilst moving, but I get knocked back and it cancels it -.-'

It's just something simple like that which SHOULD be a thing, but it's not and it kinda irks me.

But yeah, that probably is a better way to do that.
