1. Heroes Leoric Works Well With

In this section, we will look at the heroes that work particularly well with Leoric.

1.1. Jaina

Jaina Portrait Jaina synergises extremely well with Leoric due to the fact that they both benefit from each other's crowd control effects. While Leoric has a hard time chasing more mobile opponents, Jaina's various slows will help him to keep up the pace. Vice versa, Jaina offers some incredible follow-up to Leoric's Entomb Icon Entomb Heroic Ability, which allows her to use spells like Blizzard Icon Blizzard or Summon Water Elemental Icon Summon Water Elemental very efficiently on entombed enemies.

1.2. Rehgar

Rehgar Portrait Rehgar's powerful single target heals, most notably his Ancestral Healing Icon Ancestral Healing Heroic Ability, are ideal to keep frontliners like Leoric alive. Besides that, Lightning Shield Icon Lightning Shield offers additional damage to Leoric while he stays close to enemies using his Skeletal Swing Icon Skeletal Swing or March of the Black King Icon March of the Black King abilities.

1.3. Abathur

Abathur Portrait Leoric makes for an excellent Ultimate Evolution Icon Ultimate Evolution target due to his useful Basic Abilities and powerful presence during team fights. Furthermore, Abathur's Adrenal Overload Icon Adrenal Overload talent makes up for Leoric's slow attack speed which allows him to deal more damage with his very potent Basic Attacks.

1.4. Zeratul

Zeratul Portrait Zeratul's Void Prison Icon Void Prison balances out one of March of the Black King Icon March of the Black King biggest weaknesses, which is knowing when and how to use it most efficiently. The fact that Zeratul is able to freeze several enemies in place allows Leoric to march straight into them the moment Void Prison expires. Alternatively, Leoric's other Heroic Ability, namely Entomb Icon Entomb, allows Zeratul to unleash his full damage potential on a single defenseless target.

2. Heroes Leoric Is Countered By

In this section, we will look at the heroes that counter Leoric particularly well.

2.1. Valla

Valla Portrait One of Leoric's major disadvantages is the lack of mobility, especially while Wraith Walk Icon Wraith Walk is on cooldown. Consequently, he has a very hard time catching up to nimble ranged Assassins such as Valla.

2.1.1. How To Play Against Valla

Not falling victim to Valla's kiting is one of the most important things to keep in mind when playing Leoric. Instead, look for easier targets or peel for your allies rather than vainly chasing Valla. When playing against Valla it is very important to know what kind of talent build she is going for. Simply press the TAB button and take a look at the enemy talents. If you notice that she is going for a single target damage build, meaning she picks Rancor Icon Rancor at Level 1, we suggest considering Block Icon Block at Level 1.

2.2. Illidan

Illidan Portrait Multiple escape mechanisms like Dive Icon Dive and Sweeping Strike Icon Sweeping Strike make Illidan a very unrewarding target to use Drain Hope Icon Drain Hope on, while Evasion Icon Evasion completely shuts down your strong Basic Attacks.

2.2.1. How To Play Against Illidan

Leoric has a hard time fighting enemies like Illidan who are capable of quickly dodging and escaping his Drain Hope Icon Drain Hope ability. Thus, we recommend slowing Illidan's movement speed first by using Skeletal Swing Icon Skeletal Swing to make him an easier target to land Drain Hope on. However, refrain from duelling him in a one-on-one situation, as his superior damage and self-sustain will be too much for you to handle.

2.3. Tyrande

Tyrande Portrait Although Tyrande is no real threat to Leoric in close combat, her Hunter's Mark Icon Hunter's Mark trait causes you to lose a lot of your innate tankiness during team fights. If you do not react carefully, the enemy team members will have an easy time focusing you down while taking 25% extra damage from all sources.

2.3.1. How To Play Against Tyrande

To counter Hunter's Mark Icon Hunter's Mark, which is Tyrande's most dangerous ability when playing a Warrior, the Hardened Bones Icon Hardened Bones talent at Level 4 works wonders. Wraith Walk Icon Wraith Walk is generally your most valuable ability when playing against Tyrande, as it will also protect you against the dangerous stuns and slows provided by Lunar Flare Icon Lunar Flare and Starfall Icon Starfall. Since Tyrande innately lacks any form of escape mechanisms, she is an excellent target for your Entomb Icon Entomb Heroic Ability.

2.4. Sylvanas

Sylvanas Portrait Just like Valla, Sylvanas excels at kiting her opponents by increasing her own movement speed thanks to her Haunting Wave Icon Haunting Wave ability and her Evasive Fire Icon Evasive Fire talent at Level 13. Simultaneously, her Wailing Arrow Icon Wailing Arrow is capable of preventing you from using any of your abilities, including Wraith Walk Icon Wraith Walk.

2.4.1. How To Play Against Sylvanas

Keeping a healthy distance to Sylvanas, especially while Wailing Arrow Icon Wailing Arrow is still available, is recommended when playing as Leoric. Make sure to take care of easier targets first and peel for your allies instead of just recklessly charging towards Sylvanas who can easily dodge and escape your reach. If you chose Entomb Icon Entomb at Level 10, you should not use it on Sylvanas, unless you are absolutely certain that her Haunting Wave Icon Haunting Wave is currently on cooldown.
