Medivh Arcane Rift
Arcane Rift (Q) World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Mana: 50
  • Cooldown: 7 seconds

Launch a rift that deals 439 (208 + 4% per level) damage to enemies in its path. If an enemy Hero is hit, reduce its cooldown by 5 seconds and refund 50 Mana.

Arcane Rift Icon Arcane Rift launches an arrow-shaped projectile that deals a medium amount of damage to enemies in its path. If an enemy Hero is hit, Arcane Rift's cooldown is reduced by 5 seconds and replenishes 50 Mana.

Being Medivh's only damage source, Arcane Rift Icon Arcane Rift becomes a crucial ability to clear Minion waves and to damage enemy Heroes. Keep in mind that Arcane Rift should usually be aimed in a way that it hits at least one enemy Hero in order to keep its cooldown as low as possible. As with other ranged Heroes, we suggest keeping a safe distance to enemy Warriors and melee Assassins when playing as Medivh, which is why Arcane Rift should only be cast if it is safe to do so.

At Level 7, Medivh gains access to a talent called The Master's Touch Icon The Master's Touch, which turns Arcane Rift Icon Arcane Rift into a very strong offensive ability. Since death causes you to lose all previously collected stacks on The Master's Touch, team fighting and pushing aggressively is not recommended until you successfully gathered the maximum amount of stacks.

1. Force of Will

Medivh Force of Will
Force of Will (W) World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Mana: 50
  • Cooldown: 5 seconds

Protect an allied Hero from all damage for 1.5 seconds.

Force of Will Icon Force of Will grants Invulnerable to an allied target Hero, preventing all damage taken for 1.5 seconds.

Force of Will Icon Force of Will proves to be an incredibly powerful single-target protection ability, which gets most value if used on aggressive (melee) Assassins and Warriors, such as Illidan, Sonya, or Tracer. During team fights it should be cast as frequently as possible in order to keep frontliners and other important target in good shape.

In terms of talents, we strongly recommend picking up Circle of Protection Icon Circle of Protection at Level 16 if your team composition features multiple melee Heroes who usually end up clumping next to one another or Reabsorption Icon Reabsorption if your team requires individual Heroes to survive as long as possible.

2. Portal

Medivh Portal
Portal (E) World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Mana: 75
  • Cooldown: 20 seconds

Create a set of portals between you and the target location, allowing allies to teleport between both. The portals last 6 seconds.

Portal Icon Portal creates a pair of portals between your current location and the target location, allowing allied Heroes to teleport between both portals. Lasts 6 seconds.

There is hardly any ability that can be used as flexibly as Portal Icon Portal. One the one hand, it provides your teammates with a fantastic way to escape chasing enemies. On the other hand, it can be used to allow your allies to hunt down retreating enemies more efficiently. If combined with Medivh's Raven Form Icon Raven Form, Portal can make for powerful and surprising combinations. Simply fly close to an enemy target and immediately follow up by casting Portal towards the direction of your nearby allies. This causes them to immediately appear next to you and your chosen enemy target.

3. Poly Bomb

Medivh Poly Bomb
Poly Bomb (R) World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Mana: 75
  • Cooldown: 40 seconds

Polymorph an enemy Hero, suppressing their attacks and Silencing them for 2 seconds. On expiration, Poly Bomb spreads to other nearby enemy Heroes.

Poly Bomb Icon Poly Bomb polymorphs an enemy Hero, suppressing their attacks and abilities and silencing them for 2 seconds. If an enemy Hero is near the polymorphed target upon expiration, Poly Bomb spreads to that target. Poly Bomb's effect stops automatically if no other target is nearby upon expiration.

Poly Bomb Icon Poly Bomb truly shines if cast on an enemy melee Hero that is currently surrounded by other melee Heroes. Furthermore, keep an eye out for targets that are currently impaired by movement speed slowing effects, Stuns, Roots, and Silences, as they struggle running away from their teammates in time. This ultimately results in Polybomb spreading multiple times, which can single-handedly decide the outcome of a team fight.

4. Ley Line Seal

Medivh Ley Line Seal
Ley Line Seal (R) World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Mana: 75
  • Cooldown: 80 seconds

After 0.5 seconds, unleash a wave of energy that imprisons enemy Heroes in Stasis for 3 seconds.

Ley Line Seal Icon Ley Line Seal unleashes a wave of arcane energy towards a target direction that puts enemy Heroes in Stasis for 3 seconds, making them invulnerable but also preventing them from attacking and casting any abilities.

We usually do not consider Ley Line Seal Icon Ley Line Seal a recommended Heroic Ability to pick, since its projectile moves very slowly and thus is quite likely going to miss. Furthermore, the Stasis effect sometimes saves enemies caught inside unintentionally, because it allows their allies to catch up and support them once the Stasis wears off. All things considered, Ley Line Seal feels very underwhelming compared to Poly Bomb Icon Poly Bomb.

5. Raven Form

Medivh Raven Form
Raven Form World of Warcraft Medivh
  • Trait

Instead of mounting, Medivh can transform into a raven, increasing Movement Speed by 20%. While transformed, Medivh can see and fly over all terrain and is immune to all effects.

Raven Form Icon Raven Form allows Medivh to transform himself into a Raven, increasing his movement speed by 20%. While in Raven form, Medivh cannot be attacked or hit by abilities and is able to fly over all terrain and Structures.

We recommend using Raven Form Icon Raven Form as often as possible to scout important locations, such as Map Objectives or Mercenary Camps. Vision-obscured terrain (e.g. Bushes, Steam, etc.) that might serve as an enemy ambush spot should be carefully examined while in Raven Form to prevent your allies from walking into a trap. Talents like Bird's Eye View Icon Bird's Eye View at Level 4 and Winds of Celerity Icon Winds of Celerity at Level 13 can greatly help you in that regard, as they increase your vision radius and movement speed of Raven Form.
