Mistweaver Monk Healing Statistics Priority and Reforging (WoW MoP 5.3)
In this article, we explain what the best statistics are for Mistweaver Monks (WoW MoP 5.3), how the class benefits from each of them, and what your reforging strategy should be. We also detail what the various caps are and why they should be attained. The statistics priority is important as it influences reforging strategies as well as itemisation choices (gear, enchants, and gems).
Make sure to check our Gear Optimisation Guide, which serves as a support guide for this article.

1. Basics↑top
The stat priority for a Mistweaver Monk is:
- Spirit (until you are comfortable with your mana regeneration);
- Haste Rating (until the soft haste cap you can attain);
- Intellect;
- Critical Strike Rating;
- Mastery Rating;
- Haste Rating.
Note that once you have the
Courageous Primal Diamond legendary
meta gem, you should no longer prioritise Spirit, and instead go for the
best soft haste cap you can attain.
These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.
If you are unsure what the optimal reforging strategy is for the above priority, you can Ask Mr. Robot for a personalised optimisation of your character's gear, by filling the form below.
2. Getting a Better Understanding↑top
2.1. Statistics Explanations
Spirit increases your mana regeneration. You should always aim to have items with Spirit, whether it is found innately on the item or it is reforged. At this stage of the expansion we believe Spirit will be more valuable to you than both Intellect and other secondary statistics.
Haste Rating is important as well because it lowers the cast time
of your heals. A 16.65% haste, your
Renewing Mist gain a second additional
tick. This soft haste cap is very valuable, and Haste Rating loses its value
greatly afterwards. See below for details on how to reach it.
Intellect is your primary stat. You should look for this stat in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Spell Power, which increases the power of your heals, and increases your critical strike chance.
Critical Strike Rating is your next best statistic, and it will provide you with the largest amount of healing output. This is because Haste Rating is not valuable past the soft cap, and because Mastery Rating is also not very valuable.
Mastery Rating increases your chance of spawning healing spheres next
to raid members (through
Mastery: Gift of the Serpent).
2.2. Soft Haste Caps
There are two soft haste caps you can reach, as a Mistweaver Monk.
- At 16.65% haste (16.652% to be precise), you gain a second additional tick of
Renewing Mist. - At 27.75% haste (27.755% to be precise), you gain a third additional tick of
Renewing Mist.
2.2.1. 16.65% Haste Cap
You need 3145 Haste Rating to reach this soft haste cap, if you benefit from the +5% haste raid buff. Otherwise, you need 4719 Haste Rating.
Note that if you do your reforging while in
Stance of the Wise Serpent,
then, you get +50% haste from items, so the Haste Rating value you need
to reach is different. If you are going to benefit from the +5% haste raid
buff, then you need to aim for 4717 Haste Rating. Otherwise,
the value is 7078 Haste Rating.
2.2.2. 27.75% Haste Cap
You need 6141 Haste Rating to reach this soft haste cap, if you benefit from the +5% haste raid buff. Otherwise, you need 7864 Haste Rating.
Note that if you do your reforging while in
Stance of the Wise Serpent,
then, you get +50% haste from items, so the Haste Rating value you need
to reach is different. If you are going to benefit from the +5% haste raid
buff, then you need to aim for 9211 Haste Rating. Otherwise,
the value is 11796 Haste Rating.
