There have been some MAJOR announcements recently regarding Ashes of Creation. In this month’s developer stream, they teased the future of the game with an all-new cinematic trailer and a handful of new, important updates and dates.
Please note: Ashes of Creation is currently in active Alpha testing, which means the game is still deep in development and evolving alongside our community. Many of the systems you will experience – combat, settlements, crafting, caravans, sieges, and more – are works in progress. Some are early prototypes, some are being refined, and others are yet to be fully introduced.

The “official” launch of the upcoming Harbinger update to Ashes of Creation’s Alpha Two Phase Three is now pushed back to December 11, 2025, which will be paired with a full wipe of the existing servers and the addition of Ashes of Creation being available on Steam.

The addition of Ashes of Creation on Steam seems to be a major marketing push from Intrepid Studios to drive more awareness of the current state of the game, as well as drive an increase of overall testers to help prepare the game for its official launch.
The official launch date of Ashes of Creation is still not announced.
Ashes of Creation on Steam
Ashes of Creation now has a live page on Steam which can be viewed here.
As you visit the page, you will see a handful of videos and images to learn more about Ashes of Creation, as well as a few pop-ups calling out that, “The developers of this game intend to release as a work-in-progress, developing with the feedback of players.”
With that being said, players should expect:
- Frequent updates that may reset progress as they implement major changes.
- Bugs, performance issues, missing features, and incomplete content across the world of Verra.
- Active balance adjustments and system reworks based on live player feedback and internal testing.
This stage of development is not just a preview – it’s a partnership with players to fully develop the game.
Players can start testing Ashes of Creation through Steam on December 11, 2025 for a price of $49.99. Additionally, there is an upcoming sale expected to be coming to Steam in December that will reduce that price further (stay tuned for more info).
If you plan on testing Ashes of Creation, you should highly consider not purchasing your access until December 11 to take advantage of this price drop.
With this preview of the game now being available on Steam, the previous option to refund the game within 90-days of purchase is no longer valid for purchases moving forward.
What an Alpha Is (And Isn’t)
There is a section dedicated on the Ashes of Creation Steam page that calls out what an Alpha is and isn’t through their definitions. Below is what this includes.
Alpha is:
✔ A chance to help build a world from the ground up.
✔ A place where experimentation is encouraged and feedback matters.
✔ A raw, unpolished view of systems that will grow into the foundation of a living MMORPG.
Alpha is not:
✖ A finished game.
✖ A guarantee of uninterrupted progression, your characters and servers may be wiped.
✖ A fully balanced or content-complete experience.
How to Play Ashes of Creation

If this is something you’re interested in being part of, there are a few different steps you can take to get ready to play.
Step 1: Visit the official Ashes of Creation website and create an account (referral code here).
Step 2: Depending on your preference, consider adding Ashes of Creation on your wishlist on Steam, or bookmark the Ashes of Creation website to revisit once the $49.99 cost is active (which will be on December 11, 2025).
Please note: It’s recommended to wait until the pricing is updated to $49.99 to save some money if you’re interested in testing Ashes of Creation. According to the Ashes of Creation FAQ, “starting on December 11, 2025, the Early Access Bundle will be available for $49.99 USD on both Steam and the Ashes of Creation Shop. This includes access to Alpha Two, Beta One, Beta Two, one month of game time, access to the (NDA) PTR, and a non-exclusive cosmetic cloak.”
The current price on the website is still listed as $100.00 USD, so be sure to wait before making this purchase to take advantage of this upcoming price change.
