Over the last several weeks, Intrepid Studios have been sharing more and more information on the final archetype that will be added to the game – the Summoner. This highly anticipated archetype is still several months away from its official release in Ashes of Creation, yet we’ve already gathered a good amount of information and a strong understanding on this archetype’s most defining feature: Summons.
What We Know So Far About Summons in Ashes of Creation
It’s confirmed that Summons will play a central role in the Summoner’s toolkit, and that each Summon will have its own “role” on the battlefield. To be more specific, some Summons will be higher damage-dealers than others, or have a higher amount of mitigation and health than others, and possibly might even heal or provide buffs to allies.
With this being said, it’s highly likely that the Summoner archetype will be able to be a bit of a universal role, where they can be the perfect addition to any group for both PvE and PvP activities.
Additionally, players will be able to issue commands and essentially micro-manage certain Summons in real-time, making the gameplay a bit more complex.
Please note: It has been confirmed that the number of Summons a player can use concurrently will be directly impacted by the secondary archetype the player chooses. More information on this coming soon.
What Do Summons Look Like?
Although nothing is finalized yet, the team at Ashes of Creation have shared several different Summon concepts, and shared them directly on their social media platforms. The image below highlights a handful of these concepts, and what we can expect to see once the Summoner archetype is officially launched.

Elemental Themes
Based on the concept art shared above, as well as multiple “hints” over the years from the development team, it’s highly possible that each Summon will have an elemental alignment, with each element being potentially skewed moreso towards a specific role.
From what we know today, it’s highly possible that these Summons can be broken into the following elements / roles.
- Nature/Earth: Tanky Summons
- Fire: DPS Summons
- Wisp/Fairy: Healer/Support Summons
- Shadow/Dark: Crowd Control or Stealthy Summons
