The final and arguably most anticipated archetype in Ashes of Creation, the Summoner, is coming very soon for testers to start playing with. As the official launch of the Summoner gets closer and closer, Intrepid Studios is sharing more and more information on what we can expect from this upcoming class. The information below highlights what we know today, and what’s coming in the future.
What is the Summoner Class?
The Summoner is one of the eight archetypes in Ashes of Creation. While it’s not yet known for certain everything this class can summon, it is evident that they will be able to summon up to three “summons” depending on their class (choice of secondary archetype).
The abilities from the “summon” actually will appear on the player’s hotbar as well, indicating that the player will actually be controlling the “summon” themselves, adding a bit of a twist to the typical Summoner archetype we see in other popular MMOs.
Interestingly enough, it seems as if the overall types of “summons” this archetype can produce could also impact the role this archetype has within a group or raid setting. To be more specific, it’s noted that a Summoner’s “summons” will be able to fulfil a DPS, Tank, or even Healer/Support roles, adding a bit of a strategic approach based on a team’s composition.
Long story short, we can expect that the Summoner archetype will have the ability to “summon” unique beings, each having a unique strength that could impact combat (such as tanking, healing, providing buffs, or dealing damage). With that in mind, it will likely be one of the most “flexible” archetypes available, allowing players to mix and match their “summons” on a situational basis.
What Can Summoners Actually Summon?
The answer of “what” Summoners can actually summon is still up in the air, but we recently received more information through some concept art that was shared by Steven Sharif, the Creative Director of Ashes of Creation.
Some of the available concept art of examples of future “summons” can be found below. Many believe that the first row will indicate examples of “summons” that provide Tanking abilities, the second row potentially providing healing and support role benefits, and the final row being examples of damage-dealing “summons”. We are not 100% positive today, but we will for sure hear more about this soon.

The Launch of Summoner in Ashes of Creation
Regarding the official launch of Summoner in Ashes of Creation, there is not a final date that has been shared, but based on the information provided thus far, it’s highly likely that this archetype will be live by the launch of Alpha Two Phase Three on August 4, 2025. There’s a good chance that it will actually be launched before this as well, allowing players in Alpha Two Phase Two to do some testing to ensure it’s ready for the next testing phase.
