General Information

On this page, we explain everything that is specific to the Mystic Ally Pets variant of Inna Exploding Palm Monk. Updated for patch 2.6 and Season 11.

The other pages of our Inna Exploding Palm Monk guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

1. Mystic Ally Pets Progression Build

If the Exploding Palm version of the build is too much hassle for you to play, and you want a sturdy, easy, summon-oriented Monk to play, the pure Mystic Ally variation might just be the build for you. This variation has a much lower Greater Rift pushing ceiling, but it can easily complete you an entire Seasonal Journey if you commit to it.

2. Adapting Skills

The build is mostly dependent on the damage of your Mystic Ally Mystic Ally summons, automatically called in full numbers at your side through the Inna 6-piece set bonus. Your job is primarily in assisting your army by leading it to dense areas, using Cyclone Strike Cyclone Strike to pull enemies in one convenient place while simultaneously triggering the powers of Bindings of the Lesser Gods Bindings of the Lesser Gods and Lefebvre's Soliloquy Lefebvre's Soliloquy. Once clumped up, place an Inner Sanctuary Inner Sanctuary and pummel away with Way of the Hundred Fists Way of the Hundred Fists. This generator is needed both for the protection of Spirit Guards Spirit Guards and the Assimilation Assimilation damage buff. In a big fight, pop the Mystic Ally Mystic Ally cooldown during a Cold cycle of Convention of Elements Convention of Elements to receive the active benefits of all Mystic Ally runes, including crowd control, healing, and considerable AoE from the Water Ally Water Ally. To protect yourself, use Epiphany Epiphany Desert Shroud Desert Shroud or Dashing Strike Dashing Strike away from harm.

Passive Skills

In the skill selection, you will accomplish that by:

  • Replacing Exploding Palm Exploding Palm with Inner Sanctuary Inner Sanctuary. On a reasonable 20-second base cooldown, this skill will serve as a protective circle when fighting within. It gains additional defense utility with the Temple of Protection Temple of Protection rune, which will trade turns with Epiphany Epiphany to protect you from crowd control effects. If you feel you are overkilling in defense, you can also deviate into Blinding Flash Blinding Flash Faith in the Light Faith in the Light for its hard CC and damage boost.
  • Another high skill cap part of the Exploding Palm Exploding Palm variant is found in judging the proper use of the short Serenity Serenity invulnerability. If you are not confident in your timing, you can revert to the staple protective Epiphany Epiphany cooldown. It allows you to stick yourself — and as a consequence, your Allies — on a target to ensure the kill. Epiphany Epiphany also increases your Spirit regeneration by 20 per second, ensuring that even the most tenacious Cyclone Strike Cyclone Strike spam will remain uninterrupted. And perhaps most important of all, the Desert Shroud Desert Shroud rune strengthens your defenses with 50% damage reduction while active. Keep in mind that this build does have Cooldown Reduction in abundance, and plays around the Epiphany Epiphany downtimes instead; you will have to kite, draw monster attention and focus on survival while Desert Shroud Desert Shroud is off, and get in the thick of fights and try to burst enemies down while it is active.
  • Finally, the Unity Unity passive will contribute to your damage with a nice 20% additive bonus. You will easily max out the capabilities of the passive with the trio of ally-oriented Mantras originating from the Inna set, and the Mystic Ally Mystic Ally summons at your side counting towards the requirement. As this is the least important passive in the setup, hardcore heroes can safely revert to the second life of Near Death Experience Near Death Experience.

3. Adapting Gear

You will need to re-focus skill damage rolls on gear from Exploding Palm (rolled on helm and boots in the main variation) to Mystic Ally % (rolled on chest and shoulders).

4. Adapting Gemming

In the place of Bane of the Stricken Bane of the Stricken, take Enforcer Enforcer — a pet-oriented gem that both increases Mystic Ally Mystic Ally damage and lessens the damage the summons take. Note that the damage bonuses of this gem have been changed from additive to multiplicative in Patch 2.4.1, reinforcing it as a pet build staple.

5. Adapting Kanai's Cube

Since you will remove The Fist of Az'Turrasq The Fist of Az'Turrasq in this non-EP variant, your best cube option for the Weapon slot becomes the Flying Dragon Flying Dragon. This daibo provides you with one of the strongest weapon procs in the game: a chance to double your attack speed with a separate multiplier, an incomparable bonus for a pet build that benefits so much from IAS.

Replacing Gungdo Gear Gungdo Gear in the armor slot of the Cube, Spirit Guards Spirit Guards will multiply your damage reduction by 40% for 3 seconds after using a Spirit Generator — another significant reminder to use Way of the Hundred Fists Way of the Hundred Fists regularly. Stacking with your other sources of damage mitigation, these bracers will add helpful survivability to a build that constantly pulls enemies in.
