Sylvie is an Intellect-focused Healer who provide some of the strongest healing output in the game. Sylvie plays a bit different than most traditional healers. She focuses primarily on keeping members of her group healthy by harnessing the powers of Nature and using her Flutterflys and Flowers to restore their health.
It is important to know that the majority of Sylvie’s healing is done by heal-over-time effects. This is either passive healing done when buffed by a Flutterflys or the ramping healing from one of Sylvie’s Heartblooms. In order to use Sylvie effectively you will need to plan ahead. Unlike traditional healers, Sylvie is also capable of dealing a considerable amount of damage. Utilizing her full arsenal of abilities will be crucial to getting through the adventures that await your group.
This guide will teach you the basics of playing Sylvie in Fellowship, how to use her abilities, and which talents to use for the best build.
- Incredibly high healing output.
- Strong, short cool-downs that enable larger pulls in dungeons.
- Deals considerable damage without losing much healing.

How to Play Sylvie — Basic Ability Guide
Your goal as Sylvie is to keep your group alive while using spare global cooldowns to cast damaging abilities like your Shroomsplosion or Nettlebolt. Having a strong understanding of each of your abilities will allow for not only your group to more comfortably complete survive, but also how to deal damage in order to quickly eliminate threats and crush dungeon timers.
Pink Flutterflies
Your Pink Flutterflies will be your primary source of healing as Sylvie, both thanks to the passive healing effects of Fluttercall: Heal and Fluttercall: Restore Life. Sylvie has access to four Pink Flutterflies allowing you to assign one Pink Flutterfly to each of your party members with Fluttercall: Heal. Keep in mind Fluttercall: Heal can only be active once on a target, so once the initial buff is applied there is no reason to cast it again on a target that already has a Pink Flutterfly attached to them.
Fluttercall: Restore Life acts as a more reactive heal or a way to stay ahead of incoming damage on a target that is likely to take more damage. It’s almost always a good idea to keep the extra heal-over-time effect from this active on your tank or anyone with a damage-over-time effect that your Fluttercall: Heal won’t be able to handle on its own. Keep in mind that this ability will redirect two of your Pink Flutterflies to the target of this ability so you will have to re-assign them to their original targets after.
Life Petal and Heart Bloom are your two other healing abilities and compliment your Pink Flutterfly healing excellently. Life Petal starts off strong healing your most injured ally, pulsing periodically for 14 seconds, each pulse of healing is only 85% as effective as the previous pulse so it will lose some of its healing output throughout it’s duration. This ability has a 60 second cooldown. Do not be afraid to use it early and often, typically towards the start of pulls when the most enemies are alive or during a period of time where you can expect a large amount of incoming damage.
Heart Bloom acts almost in reverse of Life Petal, gaining strength and outputting more healing the more Pink Flutterfly healing that occurs while it is active. 15% of your Pink Flutterfly healing will be stored inside of the Heart Bloom, every 3 seconds it will pulse healing all allies for an equal amount based off of the amount of Pink Flutterfly healing it has stored. This is ideally used a few seconds before large incoming damage so it has time to store some Pink Flutterfly healing. Make sure all of your Pink Flutterflies are assigned to targets to get the full effect of this ability as even overhealing counts towards its potency.
Blue Flutterfly
While not a true healing button another key tool in Sylvie’s toolkit is Fluttercall: Protect. Fluttercall: Protect assigns Sylvie’s Blue Flutterfly to protect an ally. Having the Blue Flutterfly attached to another player increases their healing received by 150% from your Flutterfly Healing, it is typically best to leave the Blue Flutterfly on your tank; do not hesitate to move it to a DPS in your group if they are taking consistent damage and you are confident in your tanks ability to survive without it.
You can also consider keeping the Blue Flutterfly on yourself. When active on Sylvie the Blue Flutterfly increases all Flutterfly Healing done by 50% and reduces the mana cost of all abilities by 20%. This typically is only recommended in a situation where your entire group is taking large amounts of damage.
Damage: Nettlebolt and Shrooms
Sylvie also has an impressive arsenal of damage dealing abilities that can not only deal damage, but can bolster her healing output thanks to some of her talents. Nettlebolt is your primary filler ability on Sylvie. It’s perfect for when you find yourself in a situation where your group is healthy and you can spare a few global cooldowns to deal damage. Nettlebolt also can help you stay ahead of incoming damage thanks to Petal Germination. This reduces the cooldown of your Life Petal ability by 1.5 second each time it hits and 3 seconds each time it crits.
Prickly Vine is another great way to deal some extra damage on Sylvie. This ability has a short cooldown and spawns a minion that will attack enemies for 27 seconds. Prickly Vine costs almost no mana so there is very little reason not to use it on cooldown assuming you have the global cooldowns to spare. It also will spawn one Boomshroom when it expires.
And last but certainly not least in Sylvie’s damage arsenal is Shroomsplosion. Shroomsplosion commands all of Sylvie’s mature Boomshrooms to detonate on an enemy target, dealing damage to the target and any enemies near the target. You will find yourself at times with a surprising amount of Boomshrooms so each use of Shroomsplosion can take a considerable amount of health off of a pack of enemies. If you find yourself struggling with a specific mob type consider pooling your Boomshrooms for them.
Mitigation
Sylvie also has some incredibly powerful cooldowns to deal with all kinds of dangerous situations, understanding how to best utilize each of these can help not only survive dangerous encounters but keep your group healthy allowing for quicker completion of your current challenge.
Iron Bark reduces the damage taken of a friendly target by 20% for 12 seconds. This is a great way to mitigate incoming damage on your tank or any ally who is taking a bit more damage than you would otherwise be comfortable healing. This ability has a 60 second cooldown, so make sure to use it early and often to enable larger pulls. If you’re playing with a Tank you are familiar with consider communicating your cooldown uses so you can spend more time dealing damage to quickly deal with your enemies.
Safe Haven places an area on the ground where all allies inside of it will receive 40% additional healing. This is a great way to keep your group alive through massive incoming AoE damage or can be used as a Tank or personal defensive cooldown if you would otherwise struggle to keep up. This ability has a 2 minute cooldown. Its a bit longer, but well planned uses of this throughout a dungeon will make everyone’s lives considerably easier.
Enfeebling Rootsap is a bit different than most traditional defensive cooldowns. This ability commands one of your Prickly Vines to Enfeeble a target causing it to deal 20% less damage for 6 seconds. This is a great way to deal with all kinds of damage, but especially large chunk damage like group wide AoE or tank-buster attacks.
Sylvie’s Ultimate – Fluttercall: Jubilee
Fluttercall: Jubilee is Sylvie’s ultimate ability. This ability summons Dream Flutterflies that will evenly distribute all health between your party every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. This is a great way to catch back up after unexpected damage to your group or in a situation where a massive attack is likely to be too much to heal otherwise. This ability also spawns six Prickly Vines which will help deal with your enemies and also grants you the Spirit of Heroism buff that greatly increases your Haste and Mana regeneration for 20 seconds, allowing you to pump out massive amounts of healing.
Sylvie Talents Build Progression
Sylvie’s talents are filled with all kinds of ways to both increase your healing output, mitigate damage and even deal some damage. Your talent choices as Sylvie will depend on content difficulty and your current gear. While it is hard to say any specific talent is required to play Sylvie, there are some that will greatly improve your gameplay experience. Talents like Verdant Restoration (1C) which greatly increases the Critical Strike chance of your Fluttercall: Restore Life‘s initial heal or Symbiosis (6C) which increases your Flutterfly Healing by 3% for each Prickly Vine you have active. This turns what was once a purely damage button into a healing increase. More importantly, it allows us to gain even more benefit from Fluttercall: Jubilee as it spawns six Prickly Vines, essentially adding an 18% healing increase to our already powerful Ultimate ability.

It is important to note that the talents you take on Sylvie will depend entirely on the kind of content you are currently progressing through. Sometimes you will not need as much healing and can focus on dealing some more damage. Other times you will need more passive damage mitigation to survive otherwise deadly attacks. The recommended talent progression below focuses on maximizing your ability to restore Mana, output healing, and mitigate damage.

Stat Priority
Secondary stats have the following effect for Sylvie:
- Haste – Increases your casting speed and the rate at which heal-over-time effects heal.
- Spirit – Increases the rate you charge your spirit ability. Spirit also provides a chance to refund any mana spent when using abilities that cost Mana. Each time the refund is triggered it will spawn a Prickly Vine.
- Critical Strike – Chance for damage and healing effects to crit, doubling their effect.
- Expertise – Increases your damage, healing, and the effectiveness of your absorbs.
Intellect is by far your greatest throughout stat so item level will always be your highest priority. The extra stamina from higher item level pieces also greatly increases your survivability. Highlighted below is how you should prioritize your secondary stats:
Haste is Sylvie’s best secondary stat. While most of her abilities are instant casts the primary benefit of Haste is the increased tick rate of heal-over-time effects from your Flutterfly Healing, Heart Bloom, and Life Petal.
Spirit is typically our second choice when it comes to secondary stats. The increased availability of Fluttercall: Jubilee will allow you to do more large pulls throughout the course of a dungeon and the extra Prickly Vines that spawn when the mana refund procs will help with dealing with enemies throughout a dungeon.
Critical Strike doubles the effectiveness of our Healing and Damaging effects resulting in some extra throughput. The fact this can be a bit random makes it less desirable than other secondary stats. This stat also helps gain additional Life Petal casts thanks to the Petal Germination aspect of Nettlebolt.
Expertise increases your Healing and Damage output by a flat amount. This stat is rated at the bottom of our list just due to how Expertise scales compared to other secondary stats.

Advanced Tips for Sylvie
Highlighted below are some tips to consider when playing Sylvie to help navigate through your challenges ahead.
- Enfeebling Rootsap is your best friend when it comes to AoE. A well timed Enfeeble can greatly reduce the impact of AoE abilities. Enfeeble will reduce the damage dealt to everyone in your group, not just a single target. Understanding when a big hit is coming and counteracting it with Enfeebling Rootsap can make it considerably easier to manage.
- Prickly Vines are crucial to maximizing your healing output on Sylvie. thanks to our Symbiosis talent this causes each of your Prickly Vines to increase your healing by 3% for each Prickly Vine making it into a mini-throughput cooldown.
- Do not be afraid to move your Blue Flutterfly. While it is typically best practice to leave your Blue Flutterfly on your tank, do not be afraid to move it to another friendly target if they are taking more damage than you’re comfortable healing. This is especially true if they have a damage-over-time effect or are likely to take a considerable amount of incoming damage.
- Do not be afraid to spend mana to juice your Heart Bloom. In earlier stages of geaing Mana can be a bit of a concern on Sylvie. As you progress later into the game it becomes much less of a problem. D not hesitate to cast a few Fluttercall: Restore Lifes in order to get the most out of your Heart Bloom. Always make sure to re-assign your Pink Flutterflies after casting Fluttercall: Restore Life to benefit from that healing as well.
- Pay attention to when your Fluttercall: Jubilee comes off cooldown during a dungeon. It is likely you will run the same dungeon multiple times as you are progressing through the ranks. Often times your Fluttercall: Jubilee will become available at similar points in the dungeon. Keep this in mind, as you could very well find an extra use of your ultimate ability allowing you to do a larger pull or quickly vanquish a troublesome pack of enemies giving your group more of a buffer to completing your objective on time.
