Fellowship’s Upcoming Patch Features Holiday Event and Core Content Changes

December 11th will mark the 8th week since Fellowship was released in Early Access this year. Since its release, we’ve seen various changes to the game, both large and small. Massive balance changes to heroes, dungeons, and their difficulties, the addition of Eternal Matchmaking, various quality of life additions, and even a Halloween event have all come within this time.

The patch coming on December 11th will shake up Fellowship, bringing the Winter Holiday event, huge balance changes, and changes to the game’s economy. Below is the information we gathered from the latest PlayFellowship developer livestream on December 8th regarding these upcoming changes.

December 11th Patch

The December 11th patch will contain massive updates that will “impact the game as a whole.” With these balance changes comes the Winter/Holiday event. Chief Rebel’s Community Director, Hamish Bode, teased at potential secret mini-bosses that can be encountered during the event. All heroes will have a skin to unlock during this event.

The event end date is not yet known. Hamish mentioned that the event may even run up until the potential reset coming next year. This reset is looking more likely to be in February 2026 than in January 2026, as some have been speculating.

Changes to material drops and the game economy are also coming this week. These changes will include the removal of earning Marks of Fellowship from completing Quickplays. These will be earned differently following the December 11th patch. Hamish stated that he will be releasing a video within the next 24 hours to go over the upcoming economic changes to Fellowship.

The maintenance patch is scheduled for this Thursday, December 11th, at 7:00 am CET.

Late-Game Gearing Frustrations

It was acknowledged that the late-game grind for gear pieces with Essence Bonus and the gems to socket into them can be frustrating. Hamish explained that this issue mainly affects players who have reached Eternal, which is approximately the top 5% of players. There are some other critical issues to address to fulfill their retention goals, such as the quickplay experience and the game economy.

The players who have reached Eternal are the most active group playing the game. Any feedback regarding end-game gearing is on their radar and will likely be addressed in the future. As stated in previous streams, players who wish to help Fellowship succeed should give their feedback. To do your part, you can share your thoughts through the in-game “Send Feedback” button or through the official Fellowship Discord’s Feedback channels.

The in-game feedback button can be found in the Game Menu.

New Player Experience

Changes are coming to the Quickplay game mode. The removal of Marks of Fellowship from the Quickplay rewards will mean that there will be fewer players looking to blast through the game mode as fast as possible to earn their Marks of Fellowship. Quickplay itself will take longer, not just in the experience of playing through it, but it’s likely also to have increased queue times due to the removal of the Marks of Fellowship from Quickplay’s completion reward. The intention seems to be to place more emphasis on practicing skills, abilities, and mechanics.

Many of the issues that players run into when playing Fellowship seem to stem from misaligned goals. A result of these misaligned goals often manifests as someone leaving during the voting phase after the Challenge mode queue pops.

Hamish asked all players to help ensure the game’s longevity by being a positive force. Be kind and be patient. Many people need time to learn the game to thrive. Taking a moment to see if you can help one another goes a long way to keeping players in the game. Be the person you wish to encounter when playing the game.

Enhanced Friends List Coming Soon

While this may be subject to change, Hamish mentioned that a feature is being worked on for the Friends list. Rich presence will show which of your friends are in a dungeon, what Kill Score % they are at, whether they are in a menu, if they are in a party, and details about how many are in their party. The ETA for this feature is not yet known, but it is confirmed not to be included in this upcoming update on Thursday, December 11th.

Other community features such as guilds/clans (perhaps to be called fellowships) are likely to come in Q1 2026.
