Try Final Fantasy XI for Half Price If You Play FFXIV

Heads up, Adventurers! Final Fantasy XIV players can now take advantage of the returning Echoes of Vana’diel Discount Campaign. Until September 28, FFXIV subscribers will receive a discounted monthly subscription rate to Final Fantasy XI. The regular monthly subscription fee of $12.95 ($11.95 basic service fee plus $1.00 character fee) is reduced to $6.95 for one month.

FFXIV players interested in trying Final Fantasy XI for the first time have a separate deal to consider. Final Fantasy XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition is available on PC for $9.99, down from its usual $29.99 MSRP, until September 28. The FFXI compilation includes the base game, expansions, and a month of game time that stacks with the discounted subscription.

What Is Final Fantasy XI?

Final Fantasy XI’s story beats and characters serve as the foundation for FFXIV’s latest alliance raid series, Echoes of Vana’diel. As the “older brother” to Final Fantasy XIV, FFXI is similar in more ways than one. FFXI is set in Vana’diel, a land of magic and wonder, and the namesake of the alliance raid crossover. The game offers a multitude of Jobs to play as, from the classic Black Mage to the unique Puppetmaster.

However, it is also a product of its time. FFXI uses a menu-based interface and lacks the hotkey functionality that Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft later normalized. Interestingly enough, FFXI was also on the PS2 and Xbox 360, though those versions have since been discontinued.

How Does the Discount Campaign Work?

Players can try out or dive back into Vana’diel at a discounted rate if they meet the following criteria:

  • An active subscription to Final Fantasy XIV during the campaign
  • Either a new or inactive FFXI service account
  • Both FFXI and FFXIV accounts must be tied to the same Square Enix service account

The campaign ends Sunday, September 28, so don’t miss out! Stay tuned for more information about FFXIV and other games.
