Hearthstone Garr

Recommended Posts

Little exorcist is quite the opposite of "little" in this one, this chick turns into a taunted Deathwing on just 3 mana with no combo-wombo required. Ugh, sick.

Beaten with a warrior (exorcists, worgens and a bunch of other minions that enrage\love taking damage+some basic cards). Maybe not guaranteed on first try, but still fairly easy.

Deck suggestion (pretty rough, can do better, but serviceable)

Priest with Mass Dispell surely would do better, but I just didnt have the card and I'm sure lots of other people won't have it too.

I just defeated Garr with a similar deck, that was supposed to silence the Firesworns, but I ended up abusing a different and very funny mechanic: Lightwarden summoned by Light of the Naaru. My deck:

    2x Circle of Healing
    2x Holy Smite
    2x Inner Fire
    2x Light of the Naaru
    2x Northshire Cleric
    2x Power Word: Shield
    2x Annoy-o-Tron
    2x Divine Spirit
    2x Shadow Word: Pain
    2x Acolyte of Pain
    2x Deathlord
    2x Injured Blademaster
    2x Shadow Word: Death
    2x Velen's Chosen
    2x Mass Dispel

I prefer Annoy-o-Tron over Loot Hoarder to bait out removal. This deck has already enough card draw.
With this deck you have basically 3 win conditions. I tested all of them:
1) Buffed up Deathlord.
2) Buffed up Blademaster.
3) Buffed up Lightwarden.
Works like a charm! smile.png

This is the cheapest deck I beat Heroic Garr with.

Garr's Firesworns can be dealt with in two ways: You can manipulate their health in order to let them die on different turns to prevent their deathrattle from killing you. Or you can just keep them all alive, thus shutting out Garr from the game almost completely. With only basic cards this would take enormous luck to achieve.

Cheap Priest (80 Dust)
Difficulty: easy (may take up to 5 tries)
Inspiration:

Similar, yet more expensive deck: https://www.icy-veins.com/hearthstone/cheap-garr-priest-deck-heroic-mode

2x Circle of Healing
2x Goldshire Footman
2x Holy Smite
2x Mind Vision
2x Northshire Cleric
2x Power Word: Shield
2x Voodoo Doctor
2x Bloodfen Raptor
2x Divine Spirit
2x Frostwolf Grunt
2x River Crocolisk
2x Ironfur Grizzly
2x Raid Leader
2x Sen'jin Shieldmasta
2x Gurubashi Berserker

Mulligan for Circle of Healing.
Do not play Northshire Cleric before turn 3 to be able to use its effect immediately.
Play your Taunts early to lure out Rockbiter Weapon and Lava Shock and be able to safely play Gurubashi Berserker.
Keeping a Gurubashi Berserker alive and letting it be buffed by Garr's Hero Power will win you the game.

Cheerio,

Bob

Playing the grim patrons (x2) is another really funny and entertaining way of going about this fight (Only tried in normal mode, but it went pretty sweet)

Can I get any help with the deck? I believe its really hard to draw into cards that actually help to win against the Firesworns so can anybody tell me if its just luck of the draw? I have tried at least 11 times to beat him..

Lightwarden + Circle of Healing, and maybe a PWS for safety, gave me a super quick 'n' easy victory. That's 17 attack on turn 2, if you get a good mulligan.  Assuming you didn't kill anything, his field is locked and you can go for face, thus finishing him before any of his Firesworns go off.

After many, many attempts with the suggested deck, I also call BS that this deck can beat this boss. I'm used to Icy Veins doing a lot better with deck suggestions, in their defense, but this one is utter crap.

The Warrior deck for heroic works beautifully - lots of ways to get those minions dying on different turns.

However, post the warsong commander nerf I swapped out the commanders for Lil Exorcist - worked a treat.

Well, this one is working better than the mage basic deck, but I'm still trying.  Haven't really Mulliganned hard for the Circle of Healing though.  That must be it.

A new hand-buff Spell for Warrior continues the theme set by Armagedillo.
A new Warrior card has been revealed on the Chinese streaming platform Douyu: Into the Fray!

It continues the Taunt Warrior theme set by Armagedillo. It compares favourably to Stolen Goods, Soul Infusion and Smuggler's Run (a card whose archetype, hand-buff Paladin, never quite took off). Into the Fray has the potential to produce a lot of raw stats for 1 Mana, so we won't be surprised if it ends up seeing play.

Diseased Vulture, Neferset Ritualist and Anubisath Warbringer are the latest cards to be revealed from Saviors of Uldum.

Two new cards have been revealed on the Japanese website UDN, in addition to one which was shared by Blizzard ANZ overnight.
From UDN, we got Diseased Vulture and Neferset Ritualist:

Diseased Vulture has a similar condition to Duskbat and Nethersoul Buster, but arguably a greater payoff than either. It's also repeatable, rather than being a one-time effect - if you stick this card to the board or combine it with multiple self-damage effects like Spirit Bomb, it can get some major value.
Neferset Ritualist has solid stats for a 2-Mana Minion and an interesting effect reminiscent of Hozen Healer. Restoring Health to Minions isn't always the most useful effect in Hearthstone, but this card does a lot for its cost.
Priest already has good incentives to run Minions like Injured Blademaster and Damaged Stegotron which damage themselves thanks to their synergy with resurrect effects (including Psychopomp, a powerful new addition in Saviors of Uldum). It's possible that Neferset Ritualist could be played alongside these minions to restore them to their original stats, although as a 2/3 itself it's a poor addition to the pool of resurrect minions.
We also saw Anubisath Warbringer revealed by Blizzard ANZ on Twitter late last night.

It doesn't look like much on its own, but as an expensive Deathrattle minion it could have some utility alongside synergy cards like Coffin Crasher and the new Rogue Legendary, Anka, the Buried.
Anubisath Warbringer was revealed with a short video that you really should go and see for yourself. It's a time lapse of the card being sculpted out of sand, and the craftsmanship on display is seriously impressive.

Polish YouTuber MKRR has revealed two new Rogue cards designed around the Combo mechanic: Hooked Scimitar and Whirlkick Master.

The latest card reveals from Saviors of Uldum have been posted by Polish YouTuber MKRR: Hooked Scimitar and Whirlkick Master!

Hooked Scimitar looks like a powerful weapon in any Rogue deck - finding activators for the Combo effect has never been problematic, and a 4/2 Weapon for 3 Mana is a very good deal. It will be interesting to see whether decks built around Raiding Party will favour this card over Waggle Pick, which is more expensive but has a potential upside through its Deathrattle.
Whirlkick Master is a little harder to evaluate. It's potentially a good little value factory, and it can start a chain of generated cards much the same way Lyra the Sunshard and Underbelly Angler can. 2 Mana 1/2s aren't great, but this might be one to keep an eye on.

GameSpot have revealed a new 1-Mana neutral Minion. It has a huge payoff for those who can complete its elaborate ritual.

GameSpot have revealed the latest card from Saviors of Uldum: Mogu Cultist!

It's an inauspicious 1 Mana 1/1 until you can complete its "ritual" by getting 7 copies on the board at once. Do that and you'll be rewarded with Highkeeper Ra, a huge threat which should seal your opponent out of the game, if not simply deal lethal damage on the spot. It's a similar challenge to that posed by the recently revealed Desert Obelisk, but more extreme in both payoff and difficulty.

It will take time to figure out how to achieve this condition. It could be fairly straightforward in Rogue with the use of Lab Recruiter and Togwaggle's Scheme, but will that be a better plan than simply spamming huge Pogo-Hoppers?
In other classes the options are less obvious. It might be possible in Priest, thanks to Mass Resurrection and a plethora of copy effects like Vivid Nightmare, but nothing immediately leaps out at us. Let us know if you can solve the puzzle in the comments below!
GameSpot also published an interview with Hearthstone designers Peter Whalen and Alec Dawson to accompany the card reveal, in which they do some light theory-crafting on the new card. Peter Whalen expanded on the fantasy behind it:

A new Mage card has been revealed by Brazilian YouTuber Nightmare.

A new card from Saviors of Uldum has been revealed by the Brazilian YouTuber Nightmare: Tortollan Pilgrim!

It's reminiscent of Tortollan Primalist, Grand Archivist and Spiteful Summoner. Like the latter two cards, it rewards you for building a minion-heavy deck with a few high-impact spells at the top of the curve.
If you've been pining for the return of Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, Tortollan Pilgrim might help scratch that itch in combination with Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron.

Other potentially powerful things to do with the card would be Flamestrike. Luna's Pocket Galaxy and Power of Creation. If you can play it on an empty board, it could even cast Conjurer's Calling on itself for two random 8-Drops. And as the card says "Copy", you'll still have the card in your deck available to draw into later, which wasn't the case with Grand Archivist.
Watch the full reveal video below:
