Windwalker Monk 7.3

Excited to see how this guide will change with the buff to the white tiger (May he watch over us) and the huge list of changes and buffs to SEF! I'm still leveling my monk, but I love the flow of the rotation and the style of the class.

The guides are currently being updated for 7.1.5! I just wanted to leave a few notes for all of our users that might be getting ready to leave a comment:

  • Some pages do not require updates. The "Last Updated" stat does not mean the page is out of date, it might just not have needed any changes. If you feel that it does, leave a comment telling us what needs changing and why.
  • The process will not happen immediately - some guides will be updated faster than others simply due to the number of resources available. Be patient, they'll be ready when you need them!
  • There might be some continuity errors when making small adjustments to large guide pages. If you do find one of these, just let us know in the comments and we'll get it fixed ASAP.
  • "Why have you not taken into account X buff to X ability?" - remember, just because something got buffed, it doesn't mean it is now automatically better than the other options!

As always, we want to thank you all for being patient while we get things updated and I'm always available to help you all if you need it :)

i noticed that you dont mention the legendary trinket that on use creates a massive aoe hit. may want to add it onto your legendary list.

i got it the other day and went to look at its ranking compared to everything else i have. but its not listed. and i know it got buffed recently too

It's one of the best trinkets, but not the best legendary.  The Bracers, Belt, and Boots are all better, as well as Sephuz Secret if you can reliably get the proc on cd.

BiS lists aren't really useful with the advent of WF/TF gear.  It's only really relevant for legendaries and trinkets, but for other gear, there's too much variance in gear levels to say that X piece is always better than Y piece.

I'm guessing they probably wanted a similar Nighthold-only list similar to what some of the other guides have. I've put in a note for it, but as you say, it still won't be the 100% BiS list.

Saw the same mistake, its at the tier 7 talent.

In this tier, we recommend using Whirling Dragon Punch Icon Whirling Dragon Punch if you have the Drinking Horn Cover Icon Drinking Horn Cover trinket, or if you are fighting 4 or fewer enemies (even without the trinket). If you are fighting 5+ enemies and lack the trinket, then you should use Serenity Icon Serenity. If you prefer an easier to play, less involved playstyle, you can choose Chi Orbit Icon Chi Orbit.

We are currently in the process of updating our guides in preparation for the release of 7.2 - please understand that we will not be answering questions in this section about "What is better for 7.2?" prior to the patch release, since all the information will be available when the patch goes live. Please be patient and thanks for waiting!

"In this tier, we recommend using Whirling Dragon Punch Icon Whirling Dragon Punch if you have the Drinking Horn Cover Icon Drinking Horn Cover wrists, or if you are fighting 4 or fewer enemies (even without the trinket). If you are fighting 5+ enemies and lack the trinket, then you should use Serenity Icon Serenity. If you prefer an easier to play, less involved playstyle, you can choose Chi Orbit Icon Chi Orbit."

In the Builds and Talents section, the guide says that if you have the Drinking Horn Cover Icon Drinking Horn Cover, you should always use Whirling Dragon Punch, but in the Gear, Legendaries, and Best in Slot, it says: "Drinking Horn Cover Icon Drinking Horn Cover is useful for all situations and is a great legendary item, provided you are using the Serenity Icon Serenity talent."

It seems to me, that the second statement is the correct one, as it reflects the change to the wrists in 7.2 (That it now affects Serenity Icon Serenity

I might be wrong, but if so, I could use a little clarification :)

2.1. Single Target

  1. IconRising Winds, with the 2-piece Tier 19 set bonus (+7 item levels)
  2. IconFists of the Wind (+6 item levels)
  3. IconRising Winds, without the 2-piece Tier 19 set bonus (+6 item level)
  4. IconInner Peace (+3 item levels)
  5. IconTiger Claws (+2 item levels)
  6. IconStrength of Xuen (+1 item level)
  7. Everything else (+10 item levels)

2.2. AoE

  1. IconFists of the Wind (+10 item levels)
  2. IconInner Peace (+8 item levels)
  3. IconRising Winds (+5 item level)
  4. IconPower of a Thousand Cranes (+4 item levels)
  5. IconTiger Claws (+3 item levels)
  6. IconStrength of Xuen (+1 item level)
  7. Everything else (+11 item levels)

I wonder why "everything else" is listed as +10 and +11? Perhaps those should be +0 and +1?

I was curious to find out if delaying Fists of Fury for a full 10 stacks of Transfer Power was important or not.  If this has been addressed, I apologize.  I looked over the guide a few times for this, but never saw it.  Also, thanks for putting the time into making this guide, and into answering forum questions.

No, it's generally not worth waiting to cast FoF with any certain amount of Transfer the Power Stacks.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.
      (Source)
      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
