Elemental Shaman 7.3

I think for precasting lavaburst before flame shock you must be at as far as to the target to attack it.Then flame shock arrives before lava burst, any other range doesn't seem to be enough to be a critical strike of lava burst

As far as I understood the changes, this is not the reason why you precast Lavaburst.

Lavaburst creates more Maelstrom so that the duration of the flameshock is longer compared to a precasted lightning bolt.

Very useful guide, well done. Is there any indication whether there is an advantage using a staff rather than 1h + shield?

There isn't, just item level/stats. Generally staves are easier to obtain.

Working up my rotations in TellMeWhen, and I realized that Totem Mastery is not mentioned at all in the rotations. It's kind of late to bother, but whereabouts does it fall in terms of importance?

I see that Ele Shamans are doing very poor with DPS, on Recount I am always at the bottom of the list with some decent gear and using rotations and CDs as applied... Every other DPS character I own surpasses the ELE Shaman by far...Is there any advice in how to tweak things to run this toon smoother and put out Higher DPS? I know I am asking a question that is hard to answer but were does anyone else stand on this subject?

Thanks

It's a pre-patch... abilities are whack. I'd just suggest patience; see how it comes together at 110 with the artifact weapons. And a couple of tuning patches.

Thanks for updating the guide. You wanted to put some racial sims into it. Any thoughts on which race for the horde will do exceptional well?

All the Horde races are quite good except for Goblin.

The values themselves, most definitely, but the general priority itself is unlikely to shift barring changes to the class itself.

Hi Furty,

maybe it is too much I am asking for, but I am currently a bit irritated.

This is my arsenal link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/de/character/blackhand/Anatoly/simple

My initial talent choice was TM + AS + PE + EM + Asc. Both leveling and doing heroics felt horribly disappointing, it felt very painful.

Then I rechecked Binkensteins guide on Wowhead and he more or less recommends the same talent build like you did:

TM + AS + PE + EM + ASC

Binkenstein calls this the crit-build and says "This crit build is the "best" from a min/max viewpoint, but focuses heavily on getting as much critical strike rating as possible". Stat priority is int > crit (7.2) > haste (6.8) = versatility (6.8) > mastery (5.4)

Then I saw that Binkenstein gave an alternative with a mastery-build:

PoF + Echo + EF + EM + Asc

He says:" The Mastery build isn't the min/maxing best, but has a broader stat distribution plus an important quality of life talent (Echo)". He gives the following stat priority with int > haste (7.2) > versatility (6.8) > mastery (6.5) > crit (5.6).

Now comes what causes my concerns.:

Though having many crit-items my dps in heroics is very bad with this crit-build. During trash I am almost always the worst dps, during boss fight cause of my burst I am more or less ok.

Then I tried Binkensteins "mastery-build" and the sun began to shine again. I am doing wonderful both @trash and @boss fights.

Lavasurge is proccing non stop so that even in solo play and world questing this mastery builds feels so much superior to the crit-build.

Now my question is: From which item level on will the crit-build be indeed better than the mastery build? I am currently 839 and should I still collect crit-items

Greetings

Checkmate

Hi there!

Thank you for the great, thorough guide, Furty! I like that you also explain about each spells/talents and their ups/downs. I do not know if this was mentioned or not, but I found that Elemental Blast and Icefury are also affected by mastery. I tried playing around EB and noticed that when mastery does proc, the spell gives me another buff; it could potential have all 3 stat buffs at one cast. I was wondering what you think of it?

It isn't directly mentioned in the guide but is accounted for with the respective talent & stat evaluations!

Dont know if my previous post got in

Question about haste cap.

I am at 32% haste now and my reduced cast time is stuck on 1.5 sec.

If it worth to stack more haste now ? Have I reached a cap for it ?

thanks for the quick reply.

Do you know what more benefits we get from haste  ?

`What i know now is ticks for flame shock, the global cd and cast time.

You ideally don't want to "stack" Haste at all, but you should be fine to continue to acquire the stat.

Path of Flame evaluation is wrong. If you Lava Burst on a target with Flameshock, it spreads the Flameshock which is actually very useful in dungeons.

Nothing to do with Lava Surge.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
