Amazing WoW Fan Skins for Overwatch

Wildcard24 makes some great WoW-themed skins for OW, as well as some SC and Diablo ones! As usual Rein and Reaper win.

As you can see from the image above, wildcard24 really knocked it out of the park on these skins, making us yearn for some Blizzard-game themed events to come to Overwatch so we can see something like them. And there's a special one for everyone's favorite in WoW/maybe not so favorite in OW - Leeroy Genji:

He even got the usual pattern of official event skin priority right: Reinhardt must have the very best one, and then the rest can be whatever, with one or two standouts (in this instance Pharah and Junkrat). He also made some options for other Blizz games:

Starcraft:

Diablo:

Seriously, look at that Reaper and Zarya! We need to get this Blizzard-games event thing happening right away! Definitely check out the rest of wildcard24's art here.

Wow, these are awesome!

In a similar fashion, I'd love to see stuff like that in Heroes of the Storm: a Roadhog skin for Stitches, a Mercy skin for Auriel and a Torbjörn skin for Muradin. We already have Widowmaker Nova, so...

well the ironforge torbjorn one above is pretty much muradin and auriel mercy is also present at the diablo ones. Roadhog stiches would work but it would fit in the WoW category. I like the buthcer matchup better for him though. Keep in mind that most heroes of the storm are pretty much lore for other blizzard titles.

The concept itself is definitely cool and I'd love to see it become a reality.

Ragnaros Rein skin absolutely has to be a thing eventually, right? That looks fantastic.

They did some crossover events for Diablo's anniversary, maybe they'll do something for WoWs next year.

I guess the problem is that WoW's anniversary is in November, which is inconveniently in the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday bloc that you might expect to have events in OW anyway.

But they avoided Thanksgiving last year, so maybe there's space for it.

Dear sweet god. I really hope blizz doesn't do Firelord Reinhardt, I would go broke so quickly throwing money at my screen to get that skin. My electricity would be off, car repossessed, children and wife starving, but just one more loot crate, this time for sure!!!!

Edit: Just saw Leeroy Jenji, luls were had

These are AMAZING!!

I'm hesitant to want them in Heroes. Roadhog skin seems fine because his and stitches play can't be that different by inherently having a hook pull and self heal, so I'm not sure they will ever make him. They trap themselves with some skins because they have expressed wanting characters to be identifiable. This means we will never see a widowmaker (or D2 amazon) in HOTS because Nova already has a skin. I'm sure they considered that at making the skins, but that's why they are so careful developing them because even skins have lasting impact on existing and future hero design.

Nova having a Widowmaker and Amazon skins doesn't mean much. Azmodan has a Gul'dan skin and we still got Gul'dan as a hero.

That character model (size and shape) are drastically different. Widowmaker and Nova are extremely similar.

by the way I'm just looking back now, but out of all these the one that most desperately needs to get done is by far reapers mathael skin. That shit be perfect.

Jeff Kaplan took to the forums to talk about plans for new maps this year, and while he did mention at least 6 that are being worked on, 3 fit into the standard Quick Match and Competitive systems and are already in advanced testing stages, with 3 more presumably for the Arcade in earlier stages of development. The post came in reply to a user's question on whether only two maps a year, as we've gotten so far (Oasis and Eichenwalde), was enough to sustain the game in the long term.
      Jeff Kaplan (source)
We currently have 3 maps in development, all past the initial playtesting phase that are "standard" maps (QP/Comp). While something could always change, all 3 of those are looking likely for a release this year.
We also have 3 non-standard maps in development (these won't go in QP/Comp).
We also have a few other experiments going on.
Hopefully this will satisfy some of what you're looking for. We want to play on these maps as badly as you guys do. We'll work as fast as we can!

Game director Jeff Kaplan takes to youtube once again to talk about Overwatch's latest update: how they wanted an event that wasn't related to real world events, how they decided to go for a historical OW moment, where exactly the event takes place in the timeline and more! You can check out the specific topic and links to specific times under the video.

00:19 - Why did the developers create the Overwatch Uprising event?
01:32 - Jeff explains where the Overwatch Uprising event falls in the lore's timeline.
02:40 - Jeff briefly details NEW skins, animations, sprays, and voice lines that will be available in this event!
03:29 - Jeff explains the differences from the two game modes being implemented in the Arcade.
05:12 - Jeff thanks the community for their feedback which inspired the creation of this event.

A new co-op mode, a hundred+ cosmetic items, big Lucio changes and more!
Well, it seems it's called Uprising and not Insurrection as the French trailer leak showed, but the rest was on point. A new co-op brawl, the usual 100+ new cosmetic items, going back to the early days of the Overwatch organization, Tracer's first mission specifically and more await in this new event that's live now and lasts until May 1st. We also get a brand new lore video, featuring Tracer!

You can also check out the full patch notes, featuring some major Lucio changes, right here, and the comic of the same name as the event, here.

      Archive declassification complete.
Overwatch "Uprising" mission file status: OPEN.
      Commencing playback in 3...2...1...
Get ready for the ultimate recall. Our latest seasonal event turns back the clock, giving you the chance to relive a pivotal moment in Overwatch history. Explore the stories behind some of your favorite heroes, unlock pieces of the past with over 100 declassified Loot Box items, or suit up with your friends and join Tracer on her very first mission in a brand-new cooperative brawl.
It's time to rewind the future. Welcome to Overwatch Uprising!
      CELEBRATE THE OVERWATCH LEGACY
Starting today, all in-game Loot Boxes have been replaced with Uprising Loot Boxes. These special time capsules have been filled to the brim with mementos from the earlier eras of Overwatch—including Mercy’s "Combat Medic Ziegler" and Tracer’s "Cadet Oxton" skins, "Talon Widowmaker," "Blackwatch Genji," "Blackwatch McCree," and more!

As with our previous events, any Loot Boxes you earn or purchase will contain at least one skin, highlight intro, emote, spray, or player icon from the Overwatch Uprising collection. While the contents of each Uprising Loot Box are random, you can unlock a variety of these cosmetic customization options with credits in the Hero Gallery throughout the event's duration.

Once you've unlocked an Overwatch Uprising item, it will be yours forever, which means you can use it all-year round. The collection will be re-encrypted on May 1, however, when the event concludes, so be sure to fire up your favorite gaming machine and browse the archives before it's too late!
      WELCOME TO THE TEAM, AGENTS
From now until May 1, you and three friends must journey seven years into the past, joining forces as Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, and Mercy to quell an uprising on the streets of King’s Row. A group of omnic separatists known as Null Sector has overwhelmed the area, and you must defeat the robots to liberate the city. The future depends on you.
To defeat this new threat, you’ll need to work together with your team, developing new strategies and adapting on the fly as the seemingly unstoppable force continues its assault. The robots of Null Sector will stop at nothing—so you and your fellow agents need to be prepared for anything.
      THE OMNIC UPRISING BEGINS
We're also decrypting more of Overwatch’s history over on our social media channels, so be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for additional intel. And as always, don't forget to keep an eye on playoverwatch.com to stay up to date with the latest game news.

Overwatch Uprising is live RIGHT NOW on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One—so get out there, soldier, and make Commander Morrison proud.

The new event brings new patch notes, and aside from all the new stuff added for Uprising, we're finally getting some Hero backstory available in-game in the Hero Gallery, the tie-breaking feature from the PTR, Custom Game Browser improvements, as well as big changes to Lucio, for his healing, wall-riding and gun! Also Orisa was made smaller. Well, her hitbox at least. Would this qualify as fat-shaming, even if she's a robot?

      GENERAL
      General
Details about each hero’s unique backstory, along with information about some of their lore-inspired skins, have been added to the Hero Gallery [PC] The Player Report system has been redesigned, adding new reporting options and activity examples to better capture the reason for each report In-game voice conversations for the Overwatch Uprising event can now be displayed as subtitles. This can be enabled under the “Sound” tab in the “Options” menu
      Competitive Play
A tracking system has been added to Assault and Assault/Escort Maps that will allow us to break ties based on the progress that was made toward capturing the objective.
Developer Comments: To mitigate draws in Competitive Play, we're implementing a system that tracks each team's progress on the objective. This will work similarly to the system that's already in place for Escort and Assault/Escort maps, which grants a win to the team that pushes the payload the furthest. Now, even if neither team successfully captures the objective, a winner can be determined based on which team captured the largest portion.
      Custom Games and Game Browser
Custom Game settings can now be saved as a preset from the game’s details page. This can be accessed by right-clicking on the map image from the Create Game page, right-clicking a game name from inside the Game Browser, or via the save button on the settings page Players can now change weapon clip and magazine size or grant unlimited ammunition when creating a custom game
      Maps
A new route has been added to Eichenwalde that connects the attacking team's spawn area to the capture point
        HERO UPDATES
      Lúcio
Sonic Amplifier Damage increased by 25% Projectile speed increased from 40 to 50 Alternate fire now considers vertical orientation when knocking targets back Crossfade Area of effect radius has been decreased from 30 meters to 10 meters Heal Song Healing-per-second has been increased by 30% (also applies to Lúcio's Amp It Up ability) Self-healing has been reduced by 25% Wall Ride Movement speed increased by 20% when wall riding Lúcio now receives a burst of speed when leaping off a wall Developer Comments: Lúcio has often felt like a must-pick due to his raw healing output and the versatility of providing a speed bonus to your entire team. The goal of these changes is to keep those elements feeling strong, but making them harder to apply to everyone on your team at all times. The end result is that he should feel stronger with teams that he can stay close to but not as strong when on teams with heroes that are often spread out (such as Pharah, Widow, Genji, etc). Much of Lúcio’s character power was tied up in his large passive auras, which caused other elements of his kit to be weakened over time in an attempt to balance him. Now that his auras are more focused it will allow them to be much stronger and allow Lúcio to be more active in his role.
      Orisa
The size of Orisa’s head hitbox has been decreased by 15%

Fixed an issue that was preventing Top 500 icons from appearing until after completing a competitive match Fixed a bug preventing achievements from being unlocked during off-season competitive matches Fixed a bug that forced Play of the Game highlights to be drawn from the last round of play
      Custom Games and Game Browser
Fixed an issue allowing empty player slots to be displayed even when disabled (e.g. in 6v1 games) Fixed a bug preventing the pause feature from working properly after the original host has left the match Fixed a bug that allowed extremely long team names Removed unnecessary customization options (e.g. cooldown options for abilities with no cooldown)
      Heroes

The new event starts later today and will feature an Omnic takeover, as well as old-school Overwatch uniforms!

The official announcement is still expected to come today, but the French version slipped by a little earlier! it seems we have a bit of time travel and an Insurrection on our hands! Overwatch's next event is going back to the Omnic takeover of King's Row, seemingly and hopefully featuring another PvE game mode similar to the Halloween one. As usual it will bring hundreds of new skins, sprays, and everything else, with the new skins focusing on the old Overwatch organization uniforms, as well as some Blackwatch action for McCree and, more impressively Genji, who gets to show of his physique. The non mech-kind. Well, half of it anyway. There was also a new comic released recently covering this same era and topic, so if you want a bit more lore and backstory on it, check it out.
The event looks to be starting later today (or tomorrow, depending on where you are), April 11th and will last until May 1st!
Redditor dewse translated the contents of the trailer:
Soldier 76: Morrison here. London has been attacked. King's Row has fallen. We are on the edge of an open war.
News voice: Hundreds are dead. Injured counts themselves by the thounsands.
Soldier 76: Your time to play, Overwatch.
Reinhardt: Lieutenant Wilhelm on duty! We're not going to let you down, commander!
Mercy: We're going to save as many lives as possible!
Reyes: Blackwatch agents are signaling presense of important fortifications: Null Sector controls the whole zone.
Bjorn: Leave this to an expert. I've got a little surprise for them!
Reyes: Intervention team, we're counting on you, and take care of the new recruit!
Tracer: You can count on me, chief!
