Those horde and alliance shields look amazing. The best part is you can easily convert an alliance shield to a horde shield by dying it in the blood of your enemies.

How about the Alliance glaives, if they are present yet? I need more reasons to be sad about my friends' faction choice.

Not yet, Glaw. I'll update the post with more weapons as they become available.

I really hate the fact that all my friends are Horde players and I never get to have all those nice alliance things... I really dislike the Horde style and love those alliance staves for example.

Wands are back! :D

I love the themed weapons they had from the Warcraft movie promotion and I'm glad they're bringing back that concept for the expansion; the Gul'dan style staff was my favourite.

It'd be great if they went that extra mile and made weapons more visibly themed for the individual races; guns and crossbows inspired by Goblin and Gnome tech, Night Elf warglaives, Dwarven warhammers and Nightborne wands and staves for example, including items that match PvP and racial mounts. We seen them previously work on this with Trial of the Crusader, so I have hope they have another go at it.

Play both factions! It might be easier for me since my friends circle in WoW outside my guild is fairly small, but I like a bit of variety and change in scenery every now and again and have things in both factions I love playing with or seeing on my screen. It's a good way to have a breather too, get something new from the game and meet new people.

Gj Blizz, again horde melee weapons sucks, if you will seek for some cool particle effects

Again Horde gets the short stick when it comes to looks. Everything with the Horde screams second hand. From race models to weapon models.

Horde had one race model that was in any way good looking and that was BE, now alliance gets a cooler version of that too and horde gets Nightborn...a ugly version of Nightelf..

I 100% completely and with every fiber of my being disagree.  I think the Horde weapon skins are perfect for them.  The Horde weapons look like they're fashioned by a group that lives in a savage land, that has to survive not only the war at hand but some of the harsh environments of Kalimdor.

If you think the only good race model is the Blood Elf then you're out of your mind.  The Tauren are beautiful models that stand above the rest with such nobility and stature, the Trolls are incredible with their hidden height and strength, the Undead are the perfect image of a forsaken race not  yet forgotten, The Blood Elves are just too prim and pristine to fit into a group of people that have survived the wilderness.  The Orcs are a thing of beauty, as they embody the essential look and feel of Warcraft the unrelenting savage who's intellect is only matched by his sheer strength.

I feel like the Nightborne physically may not look the part of the Horde but their story embodies the very essence of what it means to be Horde.  That is abandoned by their own people, cast out of civilization, and just surviving to make it through to the next day.

The alliance weapons are shiny and streamlined just as they would be being produced by an established civilization with a mastery of engineering and production.

The Alliance races are all designed to show grace, nobility, and the embodiement of a true civilization.

You don't give your king a crude axe that looks like it was made by a barbarian, you give him a sword with intricate detail on the guard and pristine engravings on the hilt with the sharpest finest and shiniest blade you can produce.  You give the crude axe to your warchief because it's been drenched in the blood of his/her enemies.

To some a measure of a man is the size of his bank, to others his measure is determined by the trail of blood he leaves behind him.

I think both factions weapons look great for them, I feel like Blizzard is trying to move back to the roots of what it's like to be either Horde or Alliance.

I play Horde and historically, Horde skins look like crap, as though some idiot just super glued a bunch of junk together. But these Horde skins look pretty good. They have that "savage" theme that's so typical without looking like someone tried to make a weapon out of pieces of scrap metal, bone, and dog hair.

I totally agree with this but that's a whole HEAP of visuals to add to the game. We have a lot of races right now and many more to come if Blizz goes the way it wants to. While I would love it and it would be ideal, having so many different models for the same weapon types just doesn't seem like it's feasible right now. The only way I could see it happening is if they hired a team dedicated to just making, designing, and implementing new skins into the game.

Racial armor, like COME ON. This is the perfect time to introduce another system similar to the Dwarven Bunker from WoD where you collect a bunch of X item to get Y transmog. Update all the guards in the capital cities, then make their armor sets available! Like, have you SEEN the Ironforge Guards? Their armor looks like vanilla leftovers imo. We've got more distinction between factions, now we need more distinction between races!

Racial weapons would be a perfect addition here as well! Let Night Elf DH's get Sentinel Warglaives from the Darnassian Guards... I mean, they won't need them anymore :P

Personally I think all races should have Heritage Armor. Night Elves should get the sweet NPC armor of Sisters of the Moon and so forth. NPCs always get all the good stuff!

Following the impressive design off the artifacts weapons, this just look painfully lackluster by comparison.

Every new chunk of information, just keeps bringing my interest on this game lower and lower.

Several of the Artifacts at Legion launch were somewhat underwhelming in terms of looks and what they actually did -  SV and Prot Warr spring to mind especially for being a little bland before the additional cosmetic unlocks, and it took until Tomb of Sargeras t6 HD remakes to really impress me for the armour sets. I think it'll be nice to see two distinct factions this expansion in terms of looks to match the feel and am willing to wait to see later items will look like.

We need the iconic racial weapons available, honestly. Night Elf throwing glaives or an umbra crescent, tauren totems as maces like they've have since WC3 and have on NPCs, the Troll double-bladed sword used by shadow hunters etc.

That is not what I am talking about. Does the Horde not put in as much hard work into their weapons as the Alliance? Where is the pride?

The Horde weapons above look so bland, no intricate details, carvings. Just because the Horde are "savages" does not mean they do not take pride in their crafts imo.

And on that note..The races of the Horde are only rivaled by the elves and i am not talking about the nightelves when it comes to history and relevance on Azeroth. The trolls and the tauren have such rich history, but you see nothing of that in these weapons.

About Character models. They should make both Tauren and male Orcs taler, they now look like been squished in a vice since birth.

It feels like most gear pieces are taylor made for some races, like most helmets look like shit on Tauren/troll.

Several redditors spotted a new entry in the beta/PTR event calendar, featuring the pre-expansion event. It's already started on the PTR and it's called the War of the Thorns, featuring conflict in Darkshore for control of Teldrassil. Now, we know how that particular "control" ends up, but hopefully the event itself won't be as fire-y!
Also, based on the length of the event, it seems most likely we'll be seeing it come up on live servers on or around July 17th, if we assume it will last until the expansion launch itself, so we have a little over three and a half weeks until we see the pre-expansion event and the pre-patch itself as well! It's a little unclear if the Battle for Lordaeron will be part of the pre-patch or will be available at launch, so the date might actually be a little earlier since it seems logical that the events won't overlap, as one is caused by the other. so another possible date would be July 10th.

Also, check out what you should do before the pre-patch goes live, as there are achievements to be had that will be removed.

A little bit before the end of Legion, it's time to determine once and for all who's the best Mythic+ team worldwide in the second installment of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational!
The action begins tomorrow at 09:00 am PDT and will continue on for the entire weekend. You can tune in on the official Warcraft Twitch channel to watch the final showdown between the eight finalists. The team compositions aren't known yet, so it's not sure if any changes have been made for the grand finals. Still, let's find out a bit more about them!
Representing China, we have Skyline D and Sun Sky, both of whom unfortunately couldn't fly to Columbus, Ohio, so they will be playing from their home country. Being the first region to start the Group Stage, China was the one to look for. Skyline D went undefeated with their 3-melee DPS composition and they displayed various tactics that were subsequently copied from teams from other regions. Sun Sky showed what a beast Arcane Mage is in Black Rook Hold, prompting Blizzard to finally hotfix the buff Mages could spellsteal in that dungeon.
In the Americas, we see crowd favourites and record setters Method NA, as well as Team Omegasniped. Even though they don't have their Demon Hunter tank Shakib, Method NA is still in it to win it. Earlier this year, Starym sat down with this all-star team in a two-part interview (Part 1 + Part 2)! Team Omegasniped also has some well known players, who are pretty versatile in the class they play with depending on the dungeon.
Europe is my region, so I am excited to see one of our two teams be victorious. Kjell's Angels, the only finalist team with a Balance Druid (Kjell), were victorious in the European Group Stage. Team PogChamp also shined through their regionals and they were subsequently picked up by Method. Method PogChamp is a team with popular streamers, two caster DPS and Drjay is ready to set things on fire!
Lastly, from the APAC region we have the defending champions from the previous MDI, Free Marsy. Even though they were considered an outsider last year, they finished victorious and they had a pretty convincing performance in the Group Stage. Unfortunately, for the Global finals they've had to sub their healer. The other APAC team is Gulch Trotters, who are also a force to be reckoned with.
The rules are slightly different from the Group Stage; we have covered them in this article. Essentially, we will see higher keys (23 to 25), affixes locked per map with Skittish making a return, greater variation of maps and an increase of the Artifact weapon's item level to 995. The rules for remakes, which plagued the Group Stage, are much clearer and stricter now.
      May the best team win!

Blizzard just released a preview of PvP changes coming in Battle for Azeroth. Your rank will be displayed in real time, rated play in any bracket will count toward earning Vicious mounts, and more!
      Highlights
Blizzard wants to increase clarity and offer a structured progression that recognizes players' accomplishments in real time as they climb through ranks in BfA. Rewards that await in specific brackets will be clearly displayed in the game's interface. Conquest points are back as a measure of Rated PvP activity. If you've filled up your Conquest bar for the week, you'll receive a reward in the chest of an appropriate item level (similar to the weekly Grand Challenger's Bounty chest). in Battle for Azeroth, Rated play in any bracket—including 2v2! —will count toward earning Vicious PvP mounts. Blizzard (Source)
With the upcoming Battle for Azeroth expansion, we’re overhauling the game’s PvP progression and reward systems. Today, we wanted to take some time to break down those changes and provide some information on what Rated Battleground and Arena participants can look forward to.
      New Tiers and Rating Bands
For years, participants in World of Warcraft’s Rated PvP have received numerical Elo-based ratings based on their performance, but what that number means to a player is fairly opaque. Participants currently have to wait until the very end of a PvP season for us to review the full standings and assign titles like Gladiator or Rival based on their relative standing.
In Battle for Azeroth, we want to increase clarity and offer a more structured progression that recognizes players’ accomplishments in real time as they climb through the ranks. As players reach the following rating thresholds, they will enter formal brackets:
Combatant: 1400–1599 Challenger: 1600–1799 Rival: 1800–2099 Duelist: 2100–2399 Gladiator: 2400+ The specific rewards available in each of these brackets which will be clearly shown in the game’s interface so players can work their way toward earning the items they want most.
      Skill and Participation Rewards
We’re focusing on two things as we delve into how players earn rewards for taking part in Rated PvP. One focus is refining and clarifying how we reward skill, and the other focus is providing clarity around how we reward participation at varying levels.
      PARTICIPATION MATTERS
The feedback we heard around Legion’s PvP rewards pointed toward players’ desire for a more controllable and predictable gearing path. To that end, we’re bringing back Conquest points as a measure of Rated PvP activity; we’re also offering a specific piece of raid-quality gear each week, adding up to full sets of increasing quality over the course of a season. This will make it so players have better visibility into how much time and effort they’ll need to put into earning a specific item and will counterbalance the random nature of rewards elsewhere in the system.
We’re also changing how players can earn Vicious mounts. In the current Legion system, you need to win 100 Rated 3v3 Arena or 40 Rated Battleground matches. In Battle for Azeroth, Rated play in any bracket—including 2v2! —will count toward earning these mounts. And in line with our philosophy around making cosmetic rewards account-wide, your PvP efforts account-wide will count toward earning these rewards for your collection.
      IN FOR THE SKILL
With these updates, we want to make sure we’re providing PvP rewards that are commensurate with someone’s level of play. To this end, we’re adding an end-of-the week reward along the lines of the weekly Grand Challenger’s Bounty chests you can earn for doing Mythic Keystone dungeons. These weekly rewards can be collected from a chest in the Dueler’s Guild PvP hub in either Zuldazar (Horde) or Boralus (Alliance).
If you’ve filled up your Conquest bar for the week, you’ll receive a reward in the chest of an appropriate item level. The item level of the reward will be based on the highest bracket in which you won at least one game last week. For example, if you played and won at Duelist in 3v3, expect to receive a reward with an appropriate item level for your ranking at the end of the week. However, if you were rated as a Duelist in 3v3, but only participated in 2v2, you wouldn’t receive a Duelist level item unless you had won a game in 3v3.
      WHO’S THE GREATEST?
To help provide even more transparency, we’re adding regional tracking so that once you’ve reached Gladiator, you will be able to see where you rank in your region right within the interface. For those aiming to make your way to the very top of the rankings, you’ll be able to keep a close eye on just how far you have to go to get there, or even brag to your friends about just how far you’ve gone.
      END OF THE SEASON?
We’re still in the process of working out the possible end-of-season rewards, but for now we can say we’ll be keeping the special seasonal Gladiator titles for the very top players at the end of each season. Those who get the Gladiator title will also need to win an additional number of games to earn the mount as their reward.
We have more in store for PvP beyond Rated play, so be sure to check back here for more!
