Destro stats irrelevant?

Recommended Posts

There is a guy in my guild that I'm training to be a warlock, right now he has perfect fight break downs. His DPS is right on target for what it should be, his spell useage, his game play, everything. But he only does ~150-180k ST where as I pull 310-335k. He's only 10ilvl behind me. Why? Because I have a heroic KTT, flex PBI, and my 4pc, AND 10ilvl on him. Give him my gear, he'll do 305-315k DPS.

This part of your post makes me so sad Locky.  I don't have 4 piece, or normal/heroic T16 trinkets.....hell don't even have an LFR PBI.

I have good gear, but aside from weapon, I am missing every key piece.

Putting gear and trinket bonuses aside, the best way to increase your dps as destruction with secondary stats is to match it with your preferred playing style. Its a unique spec in that there is so little dps increase when you stack different stats so it allows you to play the way you like. I like to see big hits so I went mastery>crit. If you enjoy fast casts, go haste. As others have said: gameplay is the biggest influence on your dps. Stat what matches that.

The only RNG comes from the 2pc (don't hold your breath for it)

I finally got a second piece this weekend (RNG has been hating me this tier) and I wanted to Weak Aura it proccing, couldn't remember the name of the buff, couldn't find it here, etc. So I go to a dummy and start hitting it for 5-10 minutes. No luck. So I run a random dungeon, didn't notice it proc at all (maybe I missed it, but I was watching since didn't really need to pay attention to the killing too much), ran Last Stand of the Zandalari and finally saw it once. Granted this is LFR gear, but that proc is sad even for LFR stuff.

This. I've noticed my destro proc about 5 times in the week and a half I've had it. I switched to aff for a few fights, and was overlapping my procs. T.T

Regarding stats, while I do reforge often, I am chasing the extra 500 dps. That being said during ToT progression I pulled a few random top 50 parses of Destro (This was before I got ULVS and made the chagne)

I saw some people that had equal stats, I saw some people stacking the hell out of crit, others haste, others mastery.

They really don't matter. Except for spirit. Stack that!

This is in fact the super secret uber rank strat that we've been trying to hide from casuals.

In before someone starts stacking spirit and claims you said to.

I have a feeling he was eluding to my trinket chart where I claim a KFC Mashed Potato Bowl is of higher priority to equip than the Cleave trinket.

This disappoints me since the KFC mashed potato bowl would make me go to KFC.

I always see Destructive Influence proc when I'm off killing some random rare mob. Without fail.

There is no RNG built into the Destruction spec.  There are no procs that happen off of random things.  The only RNG comes from the 2pc (don't hold your breath for it) and your trinkets.

RNG of Affliction includes Nightfall procs, 2pc bonus, and 4pc bonus as well as trinkets.

I was referring more along the lines of the rng in fights. I've found that in destro i have more difficulty responding to procs mid-mechanic as opposed to affliction i can quickly snapshot and spread herpes on the run, effectively sustaining dps more easily. whereas in destro pausing for a 2.5 sec chaos bolt can be....tricky. im aware that legitimate numerical rng is more active in affliction, but i seem to notice this less. im hardly ever shard starved on single target and easily maintain 75% haunt uptime whereas its quite easy to miss procs in destro. this is partly due to my lack of familiarity with the spec and also because i dont want to burn a chaos bolt on an add with 500k left in (assuming havoc is on cd). also i've yet to find a quick method of havoc'ing non-boss targets, especially when trying to shadowburn an add about to die and have a 2 second window to get havoc up on an appropriate target.

Though that would have been far more exciting, it was a trinket ranking joke. Though I was always a fan of their buffalo chicken snackers.

#showtooltip

/use [mod,@focus][@mouseover,harm,nodead][]Havoc

This macro makes your problem go away.

would this macro be bindable to vuhdo? for example, in the keybind section of vuhdo source that macro to a mouse-click? if not im not sure how'd i'd use that without targeting the mob on a form of unit frame first.

Replace "@mouseover" with "@vuhdo" and it *should* work.

Do you play with name plates up?

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
