Heroes of the Storm Tier List

Recommended Posts

This tier list is very weird and flawed. I don't know what this tier list counts towards, is it about the win-rates, the potential of these heroes or maybe how often they are picked? Regardless, there is no doubt that this information is wrong. Having heroes like Ana in mid-tier, Medivh in low-tier and even Rexxar is in the same spot as Dva. This is just wrong, I am an master player and know drafting as the competitive players, I inherit the same mindset in drafting as those high tier players do. I myself would nearly revamp 80-90% of this tier list, I find it quiet embarrassing to see this interpretation. It's nothing huge, but I couldn't let it go and state facts on the current state of the game.

I can't say I like this layout, being able to see all (or at least most) of the tiers was more useful.

The current Tier List is targeted towards the average level of play and is accounting for the difficulty to play a given Hero as well. We are already thinking about a different approach to provide a solid Tier List for everyone. Thank you for the feedback and stay tuned!

I've removed empty rows for now. We have some ideas for improving the tier list's layout, but with the workload for Shadowlands, it's going to need to wait a bit ?

Oh, I see now, my original comment is not suited for this then, and I can say I went little bit too aggressive. I have you know that I've seen all the different heroes guides, I also know about the authors reputations. As what I know, this is one of the only professional sites that makes topics about Heroes, that lists builds and explains the meta to some extent, meanwhile having this tier list that is reflected on average players. The tier list is fine then to me. I would like to see something in the future that is reflected towards the higher levels. Anyways, Thanks for acknowledging my comment.

I noticed an error in the list. Thrall is listed as a melee assassin when he's actually a bruiser...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I submitted a fix to this issue, so it should be fixed on the website soon.

So, the guide to Varian says that you should pick Taunt for tanking, Twin Blades to fulfill the role of a bruiser and Colossus Smash to be an assassin. I think it would be more prudent to put the Smash version of Varian in as a melee assassin instead, seeing as you've already moved his Taunt version into the tank category (he's listed as a bruiser ingame).

Some other role mistakes in the tier list are:

Deathwing listed as Ranged Assassin (he's a Bruiser)

Uther listed as Support (he's a Healer)

Imperius listed as Tank and also Melee Assassin (he's a Bruiser)

Hopefully that helps, because there is no Bruiser category, and I hear that Tank is an ambiguous term in ranked play.

We decided to slightly move away from in-game Roles because they don't cover all the ways a given Hero can be drafted (eg. Uther can be played as Healer, Tank, or even Support).

Then all of this is irrelevant as well, isn't it?

We try to follow in-game Roles when possible, but we cannot do that for Tier Lists if we want to be accurate because there are some Heroes who belong to a different Tier based on which Role they are played as. I hope that's clear.

Hey, the tier list has been reworked since then, and we ended up changing the roles of the Heroes to reflect the drafting and strategy instead of the in-game roles, which was the case before. This meant "duplicating" the heroes for different roles (for example Ragnaros) if they are playable as such, and introducing the Solo Laner role, as the in-game "Bruiser" role does not align with it enough.
