New Legendaries, 3 Layers of Torghast, No Whistle, Covenants, the Maw and More: Ion Hazzikostas Wowhead Interview

Recommended Posts

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has shared many new details on Shadowlands in his Wowhead interview as well as an additional group interview, and we'll be taking a look at the highlights, from new legendary powers coming in content patches, a potential Covenant cooldown reset, only 3 layers of Torghast available at launch, no FLight Master's Whistle and a lot more!

There will be new legendary powers with major content patches. There will also be no Soul Ash catch-up. Legendary recipes won't all be 100%, but some will (like World Bosses on a multi-week rotation).

There will be no legendary transmog at launch, meaning you won't be able to use the legendary looks on other gear. It will become available later in the expansion, in addition to more tints as well. (Source.)

Only the first 3 layers of Torghast will be available until Season 1 begins (so for 2 weeks), then 4-6 will open with S1 and then 7 and 8 the week after with Mythic Nathria.

There will be no Flight Master's Whistle Flight Master's Whistle or equivalent in the Shadowlands. This is due to the nature of the zones and Callings being different from Emissaries. Also when you upgrade your Covenant's transportation network feature, there's a portal to Oribos so you can feel free to bind your HS to other places.

However, flying will be most likely coming in the first major patch and won't require any reputation. (Source.)

Covenants are the biggest focus on the expansion and player displeasure, so balancing classes and Covenant abilities will be done very carefully and conservatively, unless unless there's extreme cases. They are also able to reset the Covenant swap "cooldown" if it even becomes necessary, but those are "just in case measures", and there might be bigger changes to the system in the big content patches.

Renown catch-up will be higher the further away you are from the cap and when switching Covenants it'll take you a few days of regaining Renown to be "viable" and a couple of weeks to be at the same point as your previous Covenant.

Conduits are bonus items, so don't replace other loot and don't show up in the Great Vault. Their item level is also the same as other items, directly related to the activity being played.

The Maw has been greatly reworked in the past months, with quests and progression and less sandbox, more lenient Eye of the Jailer mechanics (you can now kill the Winged Abductor that comes to drop you to your death) and more. You will want to visit the Maw at least once per week for the big rewards but can also head in there more often for the lesser ones.

Two mounts will work in the Maw, one from Torghast's Twisting Corridors and one from a rare in the Maw itself.

And some other details:

  • Mythic raid bosses will drop 3 pieces of gear.
  • Personal Loot gear funneling top guilds do isn't really a problem and won't be changed.
  • You can't get later raid boss items from the Great Vault if you haven't defeated them yet.
  • Weapons can also (most likely) be a reward in the Great Vault.
  • M+ keystone will not be based on last week of BfA's ones.
  • It's never intended to have dominant specs during certain times.
  • Nathanos said what he said in the cinematic for a reason and might return.

There are many more details in the full interview so make sure to check it out as well.

  • Thanks 1

If you plan on buying the physical War Within Collector's Edition and live in Europe, you're going to have a bad time!
Blizzard has ceased distributing WoW Collector's Editions through retailers with the release of Dragonflight, making the Blizzard Store the only place to buy them. However, the shipping costs could be a dealbreaker for many collectors eager to acquire the latest edition for the upcoming expansion.
Reddit user katamai from Serbia posted a screenshot of their order, revealing that the shipping fees exceed the cost of the box itself—280 Euros for shipping compared to 200 Euros for the box, totaling 480 Euros.

Additionally, Emi, a follower on our Facebook page, reported a shipping cost of 99 Euros to Romania, nearly ten times what it costs to ship to the UK.

A practical workaround might be to order the Collector's Edition to a UK address and then use a shipping service to forward it to your address in Europe, potentially saving a considerable amount of money.
How much does it cost to ship the box to your country?

We've already talked about and taken a first look at the Delve-specific mount coming in the War Within, but now it's time to check out all of its customization options!
LeystTV has delved into the mount and shown off all the options, from the different colors to nose, wing, thruster, and top customizations, with glider, blimp, helicopter looks and more! There's even different versions of Horde and Alliance decals to choose from!

And these may not even be all the options present at launch, not to mention new ones Blizzard might add with later patches, making this one of the cooler mounts in the game.
