BEFORE YOU PANIC - This is an early tuning, so just keep in mind it's part of the bigger picture.  Let's look at the important stuff.

Current Spell Changes

Agony change - damage loss, nothing to worry about.

Banish change - 30 sec, down from 60.  Meh, most of the time, we have to un-Banish anyways.  Note - you can cast it in Metamorphosis form for 30 DF - please don't do this.

Corruption change - damage loss, nothing to worry about.  Ignore all the 'talent-links' for Corruption - this would just mean Immolate for Destruction

Curse of Elements change - AoE 10 yard radius curse.  No more glyph required!

Drain Life - damage loss, nothing to worry about

Rain of Fire change - tooltip says unlimited range - I HIGHLY doubt that.  Expect no changes.

Seed of Corruption change - damage loss, nothing to worry about.

Shadowbolt change - damage loss, nothing to worry about.

Soulshatter (new) - ADDED BACK IN, BITCHES!  Thanks, Blizz, for listening.

Unstable Affliction change - damage loss, nothing to worry about.

Haunt, Hellfire, Touch of Chaos, Chaos Wave, etc. - damage loss, nothing to worry about.

Basically, a damage tuning which shouldn't concern any of you because this is a very rough scaling tuning.  What should be noticed is Soulshatter has NO LONGER BEEN REMOVED and Curse of the Elements got a buff.

Talent Changes

Cataclysm - damage buff, will be tuned later.  For now, it's more attractive than before.

Demonbolt - damage modification - looks like they're going forward with this thing.

Kil'jaeden's Cunning - becomes a Warlock version of Spiritwalker's Grace that permits full casting while moving for 15 seconds on a 2 minute cooldown.  Mobility is being squished in WoD, so this was to be expected.

KJC's change has been long overdue.  Anyone who thinks we aren't overpowered is cray cray.  This will put us in line with all other ranged classes with the ability to have an option to cast while moving but at a penalty and for a limited time only.

Glyph Changes

Glyph of Curses - modifies AoE range from 10 yards to 20 yards.

Overall, we gain Soulshatter back, get a buff to CoE, and a heavy nerf to KJC - nothing game-changing yet.

Hopefully this sees Fel Flame make a comeback.

Also lower down it says RoF now has a 100 yard range. Maybe the first one just relates to how far away you can be without the animation despawning once you've placed it.

Regarding number tuning, this means sweet fuck all for the time being, so not worth reading into it.

The only thing is to compare the coefficients (if these are an indication of anything anyway, still subject to change). Demonbolt has now piqued my interest a bit more, as it can do up to +600% spell power (likely based on amount of fury when cast), whereas Soul Fire is at +58.12%.

For reference, Chaos Bolt and Shadow Burn are at +261.3% and +325.5% respectively.

Demon Bolt looks set to be a warlock's hardest hitting ability.

The coefficients are what will be changed for tuning, so it's tough to look into too seriously.  Demonbolt being the hardest hitting ability makes sense considering the HUGE amount of resources it costs.  It'll be fun to actually play around when they FINALLY get around to releasing the beta.

I missed one note - looks like Shadowbolt is going from 2.5 seconds to 1.7 seconds - this is a nice buff!

Indeed, everything is subject to change, but it gives us a ballpark estimate of how the devs intend the spells to line up against each other in terms of damage.

1.7s cast shadowbolt seems too good to be true, but will be a nice "buff" no doubt, at least in making the spec not feel so sluggish at low ilvl.

I agree that KJC needed a nerf, but that really doesn't help reduce Warlock button bloat. so far, we've lost one in Fel Flame (which we expect to come back, because locks need it), and either gained it back with the nerf to KJC, or KJC will not be worth its slot compared to AD, which still leaves KJC users with one button more than they had before.

KJC isn't going to be a popular choice, so saying it adds button bloat is only applicable to those who feel that a movement speed cooldown is better than an AoE cooldown or a straight up DPS gain cooldown.  Destruction is the least 'bloaty' specs anyways - you use what, 6 spells?  This is hardly the spec to talk about in regards to button bloat in my opinion.

<3 soulshatter. Even with awesome tanks like I have now, I still use shatter at least twice a raid. Not having it would have made me sad. And dead. Mostly dead.

It's so funny - I got berated on Reddit for saying that I was only saying what I wanted and whining about losing abilities and getting accused of not seeing the big picture.  Slowly, but surely, the things I said shouldn't go are being readded.

Drain Soul?  Check.

Soul Shatter?  Check.

Fel Flame?  To be deterimined...

Carrion Swarm?  Probably gone permanently.

Reddit is for/by casuals that are only able to follow the herd off a cliff. I tried to spend time there, the total lack of personal critical thinking made me die a little inside every second that I was there. I think everyone that used to be in the Barrens chat grew up and joined r/wow.

Nice to see Shatter back!  I couldn't believe that they were actually saying tank threat not being an issue was valid reason to drop it...  Because we ALWAYS get agro on tanked mobs....

The fact that they've turned KJC into a 15 second 2 min CD would logically suggest Fel Flame would make a return, wouldn't it?

Take 15 second talent or have NO mobility....not much of a choice

sad about the whole mobility thing. giving mobility to ranged seems like a good way to open up more boss design possibilities but oh well, back to another expansion of turret mode.

Soulshatter back.  Looks like I won't be stuck kiting Korgra up to the tower after a fat PBoI proc waiting for a taunt...

I'd personally like to see KJC get a shorter duration and shorter CD - maybe 6-8 sec every minute instead of 15 every two. How often will I really need ALL 15 seconds but only every two minutes? Totally happy with it getting nerfed, but I'd like it to be a little more usable/competitive.

After seeing even shadow priest scaling going down, I was no longer worried about the whole warlock scaling.

While I see the need for KJC to be changed, I would find it better to further emphasize its alternatives via buffing them to let your decision which level 90 talent you choose matter more. By a clever balancing, this could act as a way to increase skill cap.   Of course this would need varying encounter designs  and a further downscaling of the warlock class, which could become problematic for the leveling process.

In this version, it´s just another invocation of Spiritwalker´s Grace...

You guys gotta remember that they design battles around talents and builds for classes, not the other way around.  If you see movement getting nerfed across the board, rest assured that this is how the battles will be created.  There will be opportunities for small movement, but nothing that requires the use of 5 charges of Demonic Gateway or full movement while casting.  Think less Siegecrafter and more like Iron Juggernaut Phase 1 where you have small targetted AoEs that you gotta move out of.

When Dragon Soul was coming out, you could see the tier bonuses on tanks with all of their defensives getting boosts and given raid wide utility and you KNEW there was a lot of AoE damage coming.  Sure enough, every encounter had massive AoE damage that was to be mitigated (remember your CD use on Heroic Ultraxion or Deathwing?).

Removing the ability to move and cast will also make you learn how to move and keep your DPS up.  It will lower the DPS of a lot of players who aren't great and don't plan ahead while those who are accustomed to min/maxing will see their DPS stay at the top.  With the removal of snapshotting, my best guess is that they will add complexity to all classes with hard fights, at least in Mythic mode.  Hold onto your horses because I think we're about to go into the best raiding tier to date.

This was just posted to wowhead, and it really sucks :/

"Kil’jaeden’s Cunning has been redesigned. Kil'jaeden's Cunning calls upon the cunning of Kil'jaeden to permit movement while casting Warlock spells. This spell may be cast while casting other spells and lasts 15 seconds with a 2-minute cooldown."

On the other hand, CoE and CoEx are no longer mutually exclusive.  We can have both curses up on the same target.

"Curse of Exhaustion and Curse of the Elements now affect all enemies within 10 yards of the target, and are no longer mutually exclusive."

Guess this is most recent Alpha thread so I'll bump it..

From what I saw on Sparks feed, some impressive things and some disappointing things.

Servitude Demons still seem like they are very unfinished, with no abilities and the dmg tunings till looks way off. His Imp looked to be hitting harder/faster than a Supremacy/Servitude Terrorguard. The abbysal AoE ticks were 35 lol ... and I could have sworn it was melee for 140. When summoning the Infernal, it lands beside you like any other summoned demon spawns beside you. By the looks of it, Infernal Awakening is no longer a thing, which is a shame. When Sacced, neither the Doomguard or Infernal gave a command demon ability (yet?).

Cataclysm while in Meta applied AoE Doom... WOW ..Given Dooms duration and Cataclysms cooldown, this can be very powerful. Not sure if it is intended or not. I did not catch if cataclysm cost Fury to cast while in Meta or not, but AoE doom with one cast time at seemingly free fury cost...... could get silly. Cata seemed very underwhelming for Destro/Aff in comparison, but its initial hit for an AoE spell looked quite good.

Demon bolt... it hit hard at max fury and both drained fury incredibly fast and dropped in dmg just as fast. Spells seemed to be hitting the target dummies a lot harder than the world mobs, but as example with Darksoul up his max Demon bolt hit for 90k and each consecutive for about 20k less. His fury was drained by the 5th cast or so. I did not catch him casting a Meta SoulFire to compare the dmg between the two. Doom crits were around 30k

It looked like Servitude Terroguard was doing comparable dmg to the felguard.

AoE Chaos bolt was as expected. Drained two embers per cast meaning you can not chain cast back to back or you will drop out of F&B. With Charred Remains one F&B Incin on the 4 targets looked to give back 2 embers on average. He was able to maintain RoF - F&B Cb - F&B Incin - F&B CB rotation on 4 targets. The single target embers generation of Charred remains was very high!

The new Drain Soul spell animation is amazing! Huge props to Blizz for this one, they nailed it IMO. You have both the Drain Soul and the Malefic Grasp spell animations uniquely visible still. Drain Soul animation pulses out from enemy while the Malefic Grasp animation Pulses towards the target. very very cool.

Really excited to see more soon!

Was watching with you Soulzar, and it was all very cool.  Most of the time, Sparkuggz was DPSing an 85 dummie which changes the damage output very significantly.  Regardless, mass Doom, mass CB at very attractive cost, dope animations, Demonbolt is a train, and the greater demons are not so great.

Also, somewhere Blizz posted it is not intended that you use GoSac with the greater demons.  This was before they showed demo would not actually sac their pet so it is probably still "viable" for them. They really need to fix those demons though...
