Workaround for Login Issues in Patch 10.2

Recommended Posts

73609-dragonflight-patch-101-week-10-to-

Patch 10.2 launched with a bug tied to DirectX 12 that causes the game to hang before the login screen and here's a workaround for the issue.

If your game freezes, make sure to switch to DirectX 11. You can change DirectX in-game by pressing Escape > System > Advanced and change the Graphics API > Restart the game.

Alternatively, you can open the Battle.net desktop app with WoW selected. Click on the cogwheel next to the Play button and select Game Settings. Find WoW and check the box for Additional command line arguments. In the new box enter the command for the desired DirectX version:

  • -d3d11

Click done to save.

I’ve scanned and repaired. I’ve restarted my PC. I’ve shut it down. I’ve installed my latest video driver. The game hangs before the login screen unless I run the game with -d3d11. I have an AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT. I run Windows 11.

Howdy!

This issue is being investigated by our team as quickly as possible! As others have stated, launching the game with DirectX11 will help as a workaround until this issue can be resolved. Steps to do this can be found here.

Note: When using DirectX11, you may not have access to certain graphic features, and performance can impacted. So, if you usually, for example, run the game at a higher graphics preset for now, you may wish to pick a lower one.

Thank you.

And they didn't find this during their internal testing before release because??

Internal testing can only account for so many possibilities. Often times, these issues appear when the software is run on hardware they could not test on. It's just how development is and it's near impossible to make everything perfect every time or at all.

I mean unless there are hardware limitations, who would use Dx11? was it AMD specific or Nvidia Specific? or just both? if both, then how did they find it? cause each time i ran the game, i got this problem...every single time....so why didn't they?

I don't think you understand software development. It's not so easy as to just run a test and see if everything works. There are too many variables in the real world to account for. Be happy they recognize there is a problem, have a temporary solution, and are working on a permanent fix. I will say that I have not had any issues since the patch. Everything is running fine for me.

The fourth week of Dragonflight Season 3 is here and we're looking at the current Mythic+ tier list.

We're back in the department of fortunate loot drops, this time, with Tindral Sageswift dropping four copies of the same item.
Tindral blessed a very lucky raid group with 4 pieces of Eternal Kindler's Greatstaff. While this isn't the record-breaking group who looted 5 Smoldering Seedlings from Larodar, it's still nice to see good old Tindral handing so many copies of the same item!

Fixed an issue that caused the Large Renown bag of Dragon Isles Supplies to always unintentionally contain a Dream Wardens Tabard. Fixed an issue that could cause Gift of Urctos to fail to grant its bonuses. Quests
