Umamsume: Pretty Derby is going to have the first Champions Meeting of the new year in early January with the Scorpio Cup. The Scorpio Cup Champions Meeting event will start on January 1, and the Final Round race period will end on January 7 (UTC).
The race conditions are similar to the Autumn Tenno Sho during the Career Runs. Scorpio Cup features Tokyo Turf for a 2000m (Medium), Left-Handed race, with the season being Fall and the condition of the track being Soft.
Registration For The Scorpio Cup
The registration period for the race starts from 29 December, and you can either pick the Open League (Intermediate) or the Graded League (Advanced).
Note that in the Open League, you can only use the veteran Umamsume with a B or lower rank. On the other hand, the Graded League has no rank criteria, and you can register your highest rank Umas with ease.

The rewards for both leagues also differ drastically. Open League features comparatively lower rewards than the Graded League. You’ll still have to survive rounds one and two to reach the final round to be eligible for the rewards.
Furthermore, each league is divided into two groups: Group A and Group B. Group A has better rewards but also a much stricter criterion to progress ahead in the event, requiring you to win three out of a five-race run. Group B only requires one win, but the rewards are also not as high as those of Group A. If you’re unable to qualify for round two of Group A, you can still make it to the final round through Group B.

Groundwork Requirements For Scorpio Cup
Groundwork is one of the most essential skills in the Champions Meetings, as it drastically enhances your Uma’s performance by increasing their acceleration. Triggering this skill requires you to have at least three green skills activate at the start of your race.

The following is a short list of applicable green skills that you can acquire in your Career Runs to build the perfect Uma for the Scorpio Cup:
- Soft Conditions
- Left-Handed
- Fall Runner
- Tokyo Racecourse
- Standard Distance
- Rainy Days
Preparing For The Scorpio Cup Champions Meeting
If you’re looking to test your Umas, you can head to the practice mode and select the Autumn Tenno Sho race. Put the same weather and turf conditions as the Scorpio Cup, and you can then see how your Uma fares against your practice partners.
Front Runners, especially Silence Suzuka with her Runaway strategy, will be exceptionally useful in this Champion’s Meeting. Seiun Sky and Maruzensky (Summer) are also some great front-running options that you can use.
The final stretch acceleration skills, such as Rushing Gale, activate quite late in the race, so End Closers might have a difficult time catching up. Pace Chasers, such as Oguri Cap, Tokai Teio, and Mejiro McQueen, are also reliable options.
