With Arknights: Endfield currently running its open beta, the community has finally had hands-on time with the game. And as expected, reactions are mixed.
Some players are already sold on Endfield’s direction, but others are not fully convinced yet. But for a game this different from the original Arknights and still in beta, that might actually be a good sign.
What Players Are Enjoying So Far
One of the most consistent points of praise has been combat. Many players like how Endfield leans into a slower, more deliberate action-RPG style instead of pure button-mashing. Animations feel nice, abilities have a clear impact, and positioning actually matters in fights.
The base-building system has also surprised a lot of people. It looks simple at first, it quickly opens up into something much deeper, with logistics, production chains, and long-term planning playing a big role. For fans who enjoy management systems alongside combat, this has been a big plus.

Visually, the game has also earned points for its atmosphere and world design, especially for players coming from the original Arknights and curious to see the universe in a fully 3D space.
Where the Concerns Are Coming From
On the other side, not everyone is fully on board yet. A few players say that the early game feels slow, both in pacing and in how systems are introduced. It can quickly feel overwhelming with all the mechanics that are not always explained clearly.
There have also been discussions around performance and optimization, depending on platform and hardware. Nothing feels completely broken, but the beta has pointed out a few areas that could use polish before launch.
And for some, Endfield simply feels different. This is not a bad thing, but some players expected something closer to a traditional gacha ARPG and are a bit surprised with the whole base management and long-term planning aspect.
It is worth pointing out that this feedback is coming from an open beta, not the final release. Testing, balancing, and gathering player reactions is exactly the point of this phase. Many things will be improved between now and the launch.
Looking Ahead to the January Launch
With Arknights: Endfield set to officially launch in January, the next few weeks will be important. How much of this feedback gets addressed could make a big difference in how the game is received at release.
For now, one thing is clear: Endfield has a lot of players excited, us included, and launch is not coming soon enough!
