After years of silence, we finally got a small but important update on the long-awaited Genshin Impact anime not too long ago. The project, developed by Ufotable, recently appeared again in a “future projects” teaser, confirming that it is still actively in development.
And now, new reports suggest this might just be the beginning.
The Anime Is Still in Development
The teaser by Ufotable did not show much. It was really just a black screen with the two Travelers, but the fact that they included it alone is significant. The anime was originally announced years ago, but updates have been extremely rare since then. Seeing it listed again by Ufotable strongly indicates that the project has not been shelved and is still moving forward behind the scenes.
For many fans, including us, that is already enough to reignite hype!
Multiple Genshin Animation Projects?
Beyond the confirmed anime, things get a bit more speculative. Recent leaks and information were shared on social media, suggesting that multiple animated projects linked to Genshin Impact could be in development at the same time.

This would include not just the main anime series, but potentially additional formats like a movie project as well. One source references involvement from companies like Aniplex, alongside Ufotable, in what appears to be an animated film investment linked to the Genshin IP.
So basically, if we want to recap what is currently going on:
- The anime series by Ufotable is real and still in development
- Additional projects (including a movie) are not officially confirmed
- Current information comes from leaks and indirect sources
If these reports turn out to be true, it would be a huge expansion of Genshin Impact beyond the game. Instead of a single anime adaptation, HoYoverse could be building a full animated universe, similar to what other major IPs have done across series and films. Given the scale and popularity of the game, it would not be a surprising move, just an ambitious one. The story is definitely developed enough for them to have plenty of material for various animated series or movies.
For now, the only confirmed project remains the anime series, but with Ufotable actively working on it again, and rumors of additional productions circulating, the future of Genshin in animation looks more alive than it has in years.
