It is a huge week for Genshin Impact. Not only is Varka finally playable and heading home to Mondstadt, but for PlayStation 4 players, this patch marks something else entirely: the end.

After years of support, HoYoverse is officially discontinuing PS4 service, closing a chapter that began all the way back in Mondstadt.

And somehow… it is ending there too.

PS4 Purchase Removal Begins

Starting February 25, 2026 at 06:00 (UTC+8):

  • All in-game purchases on PS4 will be removed
  • You will no longer be able to purchase through the PlayStation Store on PS4
  • The in-game shop will be disabled on the platform

You can still log in and play, but the shutdown process begins here.

Full PS4 Support Ends April 8

Beginning April 8, 2026 at 06:00 (UTC+8):

  • Update support for Genshin Impact on PS4 will officially stop
  • Players will no longer be able to log in via PS4
  • Existing installations will stop receiving patch updates

From that date onward, the game will no longer be playable on the platform. For more information and details, you can take a look at the official post.

The End of an Era

Genshin Impact launched in 2020 on PS4, introducing players to Mondstadt, Stormterror, and the early days of Teyvat. Now, years later, and exactly as Varka heads back home, PS4 players reach their final patch.

It is not unexpected. The hardware is aging, and Genshin’s technical demands have steadily increased with each region and system expansion. But that does not make it less bittersweet for those who are still playing on the PS4.

For many Travelers, PS4 was where the journey began. And for a lot of people who do not have the possibility to upgrade to a more recent support, it might also be where the journey will end.
