Genshin Impact just dropped a new character teaser for Linnea, and instead of focusing on combat or abilities, this one heads straight into her story.
Titled “Companion on a Rainy Night,” the trailer gives us a closer look at Linnea’s past, and more importantly, how she met Lumi, the small Jack Frost Fae that now follows her everywhere.
A Story About Not Quite Belonging
The teaser paints Linnea as someone who never really fit in. Despite living among humans, she kept her true identity hidden, trying to pass as something she was not. She was someone standing just outside of a world they are technically part of, but never fully accepted in.
But with time, she learned to be herself, met some friends, and eventually, went on an adventure!
And that is where Lumi comes in.
On the other side of that same fire, there is this tiny Jack Frost creature, literally wearing a paper bag to look “normal.” It is a bit silly on the surface, but it mirrors Linnea almost perfectly.
Two outcasts, both pretending, both clearly not fooling anyone.
So when they meet, it is less about some big dramatic moment and more about recognition. They see the same thing in each other, and that is enough.
A Cute but Useful Companion
Lumi is not just there for the story.
In-game, Linnea’s kit actually revolves around summoning and interacting with her companion, tying that relationship directly into combat. Between her off-field Geo damage, buffs to Lunar Crystallize reactions, and even some healing, she ends up being a pretty flexible support option, especially for Geo-focused teams.
Overall, instead of trying to sell Linnea purely through gameplay, her teaser gives her a bit more personality upfront, and makes Lumi feel like more than just another mechanic attached to a character.
