Players testing the Genshin Impact 6.4 beta noticed a small but maybe important interaction. It seems that Varka’s charged attacks cause hitlag, a short pause in combat when enemies take damage. Normally, hitlag is just visual feedback, but in this case, it seems to actually extend the duration of Varka’s Elemental Skill (Windbound Execution).
This means that certain actions in combat take slightly longer than their base animation, and in Varka’s case, this allows him to fit in extra skill if timed correctly.
How It Changes His Rotation
Most damage calculations for Varka currently assume three Es per rotation. Practical testing shows you can actually squeeze a fourth E into a full rotation, because the hitlag from charged attacks lines up perfectly with the cooldown reset. The last E in that sequence functions like a normal skill, letting him deal more damage.
In short, Varka’s real damage potential is higher than theorycraft suggests so far, especially for players who can optimize timing. This small interaction could make him a much stronger choice.
A Potential With Limitations
Sadly, in practice, this also means there is a catch. It does not automatically work in each situation:
- The fourth E will most likely not benefit from all the buffs from the other characters in your team, and that means reduced damage. For example, if you play Varka with Durin, Durin’s buffs will probably run out before Varka’s 4th E hits.
- Extending the rotation can sometimes lower overall DPS, especially if it delays the rest of the team’s burst timing
Basically, hitlag opens some cool possibilities, but it does not automatically make Varka stronger. If you get the timing right, that fourth E adds value, but if you do not, it might even hurt your rotation.
For now, Varka does feel slightly underwhelming to most players who were waiting for him since the launch of Genshin Impact. However, things can still change until he actually releases, so keep your hopes up!
