Illuga is one of the new characters expected to join Genshin Impact in Version 6.3. He is a 4-star Geo character who we are expecting to be a Support unit within a team providing elemental scaling and team buffs. While full details haven’t been revealed yet, early leaks have given us a glimpse of his abilities. Here’s a summary of what we know so far.
What Abilities and Skills Does Illuga Use?
Abilities:
- Normal Attack (Oath Taking Spear Technique): Illuga’s standard attack consists of up to 5 quick spear ATK’s. His charged attack lets him expend stamina to dash forward, striking any enemies he passes through. When performing a plunging attack into the ground it damages opponents he collides with mid descent as well as deals AoE DMG.
- Elemental Skill (Dawn Breaking Messenger): Illuga calls upon A’dong who aids him in battle. Tapping or holding the skill will have A’dong dart ahead striking enemies along its path with Geo DMG. Holding the skill instead shifts Illuga into an aiming stance, allowing him to mark a target for A’dong to strike. This ability has a cooldown of 15 seconds.
- Elemental Burst (Light Unshadowed): When Illuga ignites his lantern, he releases a burst of DMG and enters Nightingale’s Nocturne for twenty seconds. This state gives him 21 Nightingale’s Song stacks. Each time an active teammate deals Geo damage through attacks, skills, or bursts, one stack is consumed to boost that DMG based on his Elemental Mastery, with an even bigger bonus for Lunar Crystallisation reactions. Multiple enemies hit means multiple stacks used. He can also gain extra stacks from Geo Constructs. If he activates his Burst while constructs are present, or if any are created during Nocturne, he gains 5 stacks per construct up to 15 extra per Burst within 20 second limit. The effect ends when all stacks run out or the duration ends. Nightingale‘s Song is the buff his Burst creates, increasing Geo damage dealt by the active character. The Burst lasts 20 seconds, has a 15 second cooldown, and costs 60 energy.
- Passive: Illuga’s presence grants powerful support effects to his allies. Whenever he uses Dawn-Breaking Messenger or Light Unshadowed, nearby teammates receive the Oath of the Lamp buff for 20 seconds. While this buff is active, their Geo DMG is increased, and they gain a boost to both CRIT Rate and Critical DMG. In addition, characters benefiting from Oath of the Lamp gain an extra surge of Elemental Mastery, enhancing their overall DMG potential. His second passive further strengthens Nightingale’s Song under specific team compositions. If the party includes 1, 2, or 3 Hydro or Geo characters besides Illuga, the DMG bonus provided by Nightingale’s Song becomes stronger, scaling upward depending on the number of such characters present. When the DMG comes from a Lunar Crystallisation reaction, the bonus is amplified even further, drawing directly from Illuga’s Elemental Mastery to create a significantly stronger effect. Illuga gains a unique nighttime trait. Between 18:00 and 06:00 in game, the character you control receives a small movement speed increase. This passive does not activate inside Domains, Trounce Domains, or the Spiral Abyss.
