Genshin Impact Version 5.7 brings a brand-new permanent combat challenge to Genshin Impact! Stygian Onslaught is the new endgame mode designed to push your team comps and skills to the limit. No matter if you’re a Primogem hunter, looking for the perfect Artifact rolls, or simply if you want to test your skills solo or play with friends, you will find something in this mode!

Unlock Requirements & Event Duration
To access Stygian Onslaught, you’ll need:
- Adventure Rank 20+
- Completion of Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom
Stygian Onslaught unlocks 8 days after each version update, and each phase lasts 5 weeks before rotating.
How Stygian Onslaught Works
Stygian Onslaught is a new permanent mode, and returns with every version. Each phase features five difficulties: Normal I, Advancing II, Hard III, Menacing IV, and Fearless V. Every difficulty includes three timed combat stages. Beat all three within the time limit to complete the challenge. Enemies change based on difficulty, and you can check the in-game event page for tips before starting. If you clear Fearless V Solo you also unlock the Secret Difficulty: Dire VI.
Rewards Breakdown
In Stygian Onslaught there are multiple reward stages, and some include brand-new items!
Part 1: Primogems
Earn 150 Primogems for each of the first three difficulty tiers:
- Normal I
- Advancing II
- Hard III
That’s a total of 450 Primogems just for participating!
Part 2: Dust of Enlightenment – New Artifact Upgrade Item
Dust of Enlightenment lets you redistribute Minor Affix upgrades on fully leveled 5-star Artifacts, which will be essential for endgame optimization. Given how it is hard to get the perfect Artifact in Genshin, it will be more than welcome to many players who love to perfect their build! Here’s how to obtain the Dust:
- By clearing Menacing IV and Fearless V.
- Solo-clear Fearless V to unlock full access to Dust rewards.
- Reach Dire Prestige level 1200 during the Disturbance Outbreak (more on this below) for bonus Dust.
Part 3: 3x Artifact Drops – Disturbance Outbreak Explained
For 10 days after each Stygian Onslaught phase begins, the Disturbance Outbreak event goes live. You can complete Hard III or higher while spending Original, Condensed, or Dream Solvent Resin to earn up to 3x Artifact rewards from your chosen Domain of Blessing:
- You can freely choose and switch Domains for rewards during this period.
- Earn Dire Prestige over time to get extra 5-star Artifacts from your selected domain. There is no cap on how many!
- You must be AR 45+ to claim Domain rewards.
- Once your reward progress (Dire Prestige) reaches 1200, you earn an extra dust of Enlightenment.
Multiplayer & Exalted Units
- All Stygian Onslaught battles can be done in Co-op Mode, and everyone gets rewards if cleared.
- Clear Fearless V Solo to unlock the Secret Difficulty: Dire VI.
- Beat Dire VI to activate the Eminent Boon, which powers up your previously used characters into Exalted Ones, perfect for helping others in lower difficulties.
Overall, Stygian Onslaught is a nice new addition to the little endgame content we have in Genshin Impact! While the Theater was kind of locking you out because of the Elemental requirements, this mode welcomes everyone, co-op or solo, and you always come out with at least a few rewards!
