Varka Going Standard Could Break Genshin’s Meta—and Player Trust

Surprising news has been making the rounds in the Genshin community: Varka might end up as a standard banner character. Given that he’s one of the most anticipated releases, it’s no wonder many fans are upset. But is this leak legit, or just another case of misinformation? Let’s break it down.

Is the Standard Banner Curse Real?

The rumor started with a leak claiming that Varka will be added to the standard banner starting in version 6.5. If true, this would mean he gets a limited banner in 6.4, after which he joins the permanent pool, similar to what happened with Dehya. If you remember that rollout, you’ll recall how controversial it was. Characters placed on the standard banner often come with a reputation for underwhelming performance, which is why this idea has fans worried.

But the story doesn’t end there. Another leak surfaced yesterday that challenges this claim, and it comes with some lore spoilers.

According to Douma leaks, the “Varka goes standard” rumour is based on insider info that states none of Nod-Krai’s limited five-star characters will be purely human. Right now, Varka is believed to be fully human. However, the new leak suggests that it won’t be the case. At some point in the story, he reportedly merges with another race’s bloodline, meaning he wouldn’t count as purely human anymore.

If that turns out to be true, it could completely flip the situation. By this logic, Varka wouldn’t meet the criteria for standard banner status, leaving the door open for him to remain a limited character after all.

Some Columbina information

With her debut in the Nod-Krai storyline, Columbina has quickly become one of the most anticipated upcoming characters. Fans (myself included) are eager to see how she fits into the meta. And thanks to a recent leak, we now have a few more details.

It’s been confirmed for a while that Columbina will wield Hydro, but her combat role is still unclear. Would she be a main DPS, or something else entirely? According to new leaks, she might not deal enough damage at C0 to fill that role. Instead, she’s expected to function as a reaction-based support. It lines up with Nod-Krai’s unique combat system built around the Lunar reaction.

Durin Is the 5-Star Xiangling

Xiangling’s dominance in Genshin Impact’s meta has long been a running joke in the community. Despite being a four-star character introduced at the very start of the game, she’s still considered one of the strongest picks. But according to a new leak, Durin might finally challenge her throne.

The leak claims Durin applies Pyro even more efficiently than Xiangling, which is a core part of what makes her so powerful. On top of that, he reportedly reduces Hydro, Pyro, and Anemo resistances, making him a flexible option for multiple team comps. To push things further.

The leak also suggests that, compared to Xiangling, Durin will have an easier setup, stronger elemental application, and higher overall damage.

If this information is accurate, Durin could easily end up as one of the most powerful characters in the game.

Other Leak Crumbs

The full leak didn’t just mention Varka; it also revealed details about several other upcoming characters.

  • According to the leak, three more male characters are on the way, all of whom are four-star characters.
  • Nicole Reeyn is reportedly scheduled to arrive in version 6.6.
  • A mysterious figure known as the “White Horse Immortal” is set to appear during the next Lantern Rite. And it comes with a rather unsettling twist: it will supposedly be revived by Zhongli.

That’s all we know for now from this batch of leaks. So what do you think? Will Varka really end up as a standard banner character? And if he does, would you still pull for him?
