3. Comments On The Variation

This is a defensive variant of Highlander Priest that uses additional tech cards like Tar Creeper and Cabal Shadow Priest to help control the game. Despite this approach, the overall strategy of aiming to play the combination of Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin remains the same.

The most notable difference in this variant is the addition of Burgly Bully. When played optimally, Burgly Bully is able to generate many additional copies of The Coin that can be used later in the game to gain many free casts of the Voidform Hero Power. This possibility can greatly change the strategy of the deck as it opens up opportunities to burst down opponents in a single turn, especially if Prophet Velen can be played in the same turn. This means that Voidform can be used more defensively to control the board if you are confident you have the tools available to burst down your opponent later in the game.

3.1. Pros and Cons

This variant cuts out some popular card draw effects such as Novice Engineer and Gnomish Inventor which can lowers the consistency of drawing into the Shadowreaper Anduin and Raza the Chained combination, weakening the deck in the Mirror match. However the additional defensive tools available makes this deck better at controlling the board and stopping Aggro decks.

3.2. Quick Mulligan Guide

The mulligan strategy for this deck remains fairly similar to other Highlander Priest decks. You are looking to play Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin as soon as possible and should mulligan aggressively for them in addition to Kazakus in your opening hand. Against Aggro decks you should avoid keeping Shadowreaper Anduin in your opening hand in favour of some cheap spells and minions to help survive the early-game, such as Potion of Madness, Holy Smite, Shadow Word: Pain, Tar Creeper, and Northshire Cleric.
