1. Battlefield of Eternity

Battlefield of Eternity
Battlefield of Eternity

The High Heavens and the Burning Hells clash, quite literally, in a battlefield that represents their everlasting struggle. Two Immortals, ancient warriors locked in a duel to the death, need your help to prevail against their eternal foe. Vanquish the enemy Immortal, and you'll find yourself charging over hallowed or profane ground—right onto the enemy's doorstep.

Engage in Immortal Combat

Two Immortals fight at the center of the map. Help your Immortal prevail, and lay waste to the enemy's Forts.

Employ Eternal Tactics

Protect your Immortal by obliterating the opposing team, or descend upon the enemy Immortal with relentless fury.

Hire Unique Mercenaries

Bolster your forces with Fallen Shaman and cunning Impalers, who will lend their powers to your cause!

Battlefield of Eternity is a map with only two lanes instead of three, which puts a lot of focus on controlling Map Objectives such as the Immortal and Mercenaries in order to get rid of the enemy Structures as quickly as possible.

Winning a match on Battlefield of Eternity goes hand in hand with dominating the middle of the map in order to weaken the enemy Immortal and summon your own one. Unfortunately, Medivh lacks burst damage against the enemy Immortal, which makes him a rather weak Hero on this map.

2. Blackheart's Bay

Blackheart's Bay
Blackheart's Bay

The ghost pirate Blackheart has staked his claim upon the realm of Mistharbor. His undead pirate crew has poured onto the streets, claiming the once thriving marketplace as their new den of villainy.

Collect Doubloons

Attack treasure chests, mercenaries, and skeletons to collect doubloons.

Turn in Doubloons

Hand your doubloons over to Blackheart or you will drop them all when you die!

Bombard Your Enemies

After receiving enough doubloons from your team, Blackheart will bombard your enemy's forts!

On Blackheart's Bay, Medivh is a formidable Hero choice. Due to the design of the map, he can use plenty of shortcuts while in his Raven Form Icon Raven Form, which allows him to navigate around the map much faster.

Due to the static Map Objective in the middle of the map, Portal Icon Portal allows Medivh and his teammates to quickly get in and out of combat. Furthermore, his Force of Will Icon Force of Will can protect priority targets who are carrying several Coins and prevent them from dying.

3. Cursed Hollow

Cursed Hollow
Cursed Hollow

As one of the first and most ancient realms pulled into the Nexus, the realm of Raven Court has grown large and prosperous over the millennia. The province of Cursed Hollow, a gothic landscape of twisting villages and farmlands, serves as an ideal trial grounds for the Heroes of the Storm.

Collect Tributes

The Raven Lord will periodically create tributes. Gather them for your team!

Curse Your Enemies

Upon capturing three tributes, the Raven Lord will curse your enemies.

Cursed Forts and Minions

Cursed forts will not attack, and cursed minions are reduced to 1 health.

Cursed Hollow offers countless locations for Medivh to scout while in his Raven Form Icon Raven Form. Having vision on Boss Pits and Tributes, in particular, can allow Medivh to warn his teammates of potential dangers or to surprise the enemy team with an unexpected attack.

Make sure to continuously soak lanes, especially if your team does not want to contest Tributes. Being a team player will be one of the most important tasks on this map, so always make sure to watch your own position, especially while moving through enemy territory.

4. Dragon Shire

Dragon Shire
Dragon Shire

These lush and deceptively peaceful gardens have grown over time, covering the once molten realm known as Dragon Spire. Beneath this verdant paradise, the ancient power of the dragons was sealed away... and their descendants have neither forgotten nor forgiven the trespasses of those who wronged them.

Control the Shrines

There are two shrines your team needs to control to activate the Dragon Knight's statue.

Free the Dragon Knight

While activated, bring a hero to the statue to free the Dragon Knight from his prison!

Devastate Enemy Forts

Use the Dragon Knight's immense power to level enemy forts!

Dragon Shire is notorious for early game ganks, so we advise you to play extremely safely if the enemy team consists of one or multiple hard engagers like Kerrigan, E.T.C., or Sonya. Make sure to have Portal Icon Portal ready to escape potential enemy assaults.

Keep in mind the fact that Medivh, despite being a supportive Specialist Hero, is a good target to use the Dragon Knight. If you happen to pilot the Dragon Knight, make sure to carefully keep track of its health and expiration timer. If it expires or gets destroyed while several enemy Heroes are nearby, you are very likely going to get taken down.

5. Garden of Terror

Garden of Terror
Garden of Terror

Once the royal gardens were a splendor to behold. But lately a shadow has fallen over them... Writhing tendrils creep across the grounds at night, and a number of servants have disappeared while walking its twisting paths. Queen Nightshade claims to be unaware of these incidents, but some are beginning to suspect she has gone mad.

Fight the Shamblers

At night, Shamblers will rise from the gardens.

Collect Seeds

Kill the Shamblers and collect seeds for your team.

Control Garden Terror

With 100 seeds, control a garden terror and destroy your enemies!

As Medivh, your top priority should be to assist your allies in claiming as many Seeds as possible. If you get the impression that the enemy team might be close, especially when no enemy Hero can be seen on the Minimap, use Raven Form Icon Raven Form to scout ahead.

Similar to piloting the Dragon Knight on Dragon Shire, Medivh is not the worst choice when it comes to controlling the Garden Terror. Should you find yourself in a spot where you pilot the Garden Terror, try to avoid taking unnecessary damage while inside. Instead, use Plant Horror Overgrowth to disable enemy buildings and Spore Queen's Curse to prevent the enemies from defending. If you notice that your Garden Terror is taking too much damage, activate its Sprint ability and rotate towards a different lane.

6. Infernal Shrines

Infernal Shrines
Infernal Shrines

Demonic corruption threatens the Gardens of Hope. Called forth by the Shrines, Punishers prowl the battlefield, terrifying creatures that live to destroy heroes. Defeat the Shrines' Guardians before your enemies do, and the next Punisher will fight for you; fail, and face the demon's wrath.

Activate the Shrines

The Infernal Shrines periodically gather power. Activate them and prepare for a fight.

Defeat Guardians

Slay 30 Guardians before the enemy team to bring forth a mighty Punisher.

Beware the Punisher

Punishers have one of three devastating powers. Be careful, they focus on attacking heroes above all else.

Although this map features three lanes, the distances between lanes are fairly short. Make sure to avoid solo laning at all costs, since Medivh's waveclear is quite underwhelming. Due to the tremendous impact the Map Objective has on the course of the game, it is imperative to stick to the rest of your team in order to appear at the Shrines in time.

There are numerous locations near the Shrines, which allow Medivh to use his Portal Icon Portal from a safe distance. It is important to carefully observe the course of battle and then decide whether Portal should be cast defensively or offensively.

7. Sky Temple

Sky Temple
Sky Temple

Floating above the vast desert sands of Luxoria, the Sky Temple serves as a center of worship for the snake god, Ka. He stores his great power within the temples, each of them secured by guardians. With such defenses, no warriors would think to seize the god's power for themselves... or would they?

Capture the Temples

Temples will periodically awaken. Stand within their grounds to capture their power!

Hold the Temples

Remain firm and the temple will unleash a blistering onslaught on your enemy's forts!

Defend the Temples

Guardians will try to wrest control of their temples from your team. Hold them off to keep the temple's power for yourselves!

Pushing and maintaining lane control is crucial on Sky Temple during the early stages of the game. The first two Temples will always activate on the top and middle location of the map, so try to maintain a healthy amount of Mana in order to participate in early Skirmishes. Around 4 minutes into the game you should try to clear the first Bruiser Mercenary Camp on your half of the map with at least one of your teammates. Capturing the Bruisers in time provides your team with some heavy pressure on the top lane during the next Temple phase.

The second Temple that is going to get activated will always be the bottom one. As Medivh, it is imperative that you rotate quickly enough to fight along your teammates, as the protection and mobility provided by Force of Will Icon Force of Will and Portal Icon Portal is essential to keep your allies in good condition while fighting for Temple control.

8. Tomb of the Spider Queen

Tomb of the Spider Queen
Tomb of the Spider Queen

The long forgotten tombs of Luxoria have found a new master. Deep within their timeworn chambers, the Spider Queen Neithis stirs from her ancient slumber. Present her with the gems of power she seeks, and you may just escape with your lives.

Collect Gems

Enemy spider minions and Heroes drop magical gems upon death. Gather as many as you can!

Turn in Gems

Relinquish your gems at one of the Spider Queen's altars or you will drop them all when you die!

Summon Webweavers

Whichever team turns in enough gems first will unleash the Webweavers to destroy their enemy's defenses.

Being one of the smallest maps currently available, Tomb of the Spider Queen will draw all your attention towards early Skirmishes. Due to the fact that Medivh's waveclear is rather weak, we suggest laning with your teammates instead of going solo. Something to keep in mind on this map is to start clearing Mercenary Camps shortly before Webweavers appear in order to maximise the strength of your next push.

Mercenary Camps will not come into play until Level 10, since most Heroes will be busy collecting Gems and keeping the enemy from turning in theirs. Remember: if you are behind in experience or find yourself in an uncomfortable spot in your lane, try to let the enemy minions come closer to your own towers before attacking them. This allows you to pick up Gems more safely.

9. Towers of Doom

Towers of Doom
Towers of Doom

The Grave Keeper and the Raven Lord are engaged in a classic battle of evil versus… different evil? Protective magic shields your Core from enemy Heroes, but nothing will save you from these two masters of the dark arts. Hold the Bell Towers, capture the Altars, and unleash your wicked benefactor's power on your enemies.

Protected Cores

Both Cores are protected by a barrier that cannot be attacked by Heroes. To be victorious, you must activate Altars.

Activate Altars

Periodically Altars will rise across the battlefield. Activate them to have your Bell Towers fire upon the enemy's Core.

Claim Bell Towers

Destroy your enemy's Towers to bring them under your team's control. The more Towers you have, the more damage an Altar will do.

Towers of Doom features a unique mechanic in which both Cores are protected by a barrier, which cannot be penetrated by Heroes. In order to be victorious, both teams have to activate Altars, which periodically spawn on three different locations across the battlefield. Once a team captures an Altar, each Bell Tower, which is an equivalent to Forts from other maps, will fire a projectile towards the enemy Core, causing it to lose 1 health point per Bell Tower.

Something also worth mentioning is the fact that there is only one type of Mercenary Camp. Each Camp consists of three Sappers, which will destroy themselves as soon as they approach an enemy Bell Tower, dealing a large amount of damage to it. Alternatively, each Sapper will deal 1 damage to the enemy Core if they manage to get close to it. Furthermore, the Headless Horseman replaces the Boss from other maps and proves to be a deadly foe. Thus, we only recommend fighting against him if several of the enemy team members are dead or if you can see their location on the Minimap. Killing the Headless Horseman comes with great reward, as he will bombard the enemy Core for 4 points of damage.

Due to the way the Map Objective works, capturing enemy Bell Towers and fighting Skirmishes around the Altars become the two most important tasks on Towers of Doom. Fortunately for Medivh, his scouting capabilities and his strong single-target protection allow him to become a valuable asset. On Towers of Doom team fights occur very frequently, since the number of Objectives while the Altars are deactivated is rather limited. This makes scouting the enemy team's movements crucial when playing as Medivh.
