Honkai: Nexus Anima, the newly revealed “Honkai meets Pokémon” project from HoYoverse, already comes with an intriguing lineup of characters. They are ranging from legendary Sovereigns to quirky everyday Animasters. Instead of just a plain roster, let’s take a look at who is who and what role they might play in the world of Iia!
The Sovereigns & Novarchs – Legends Who Shape the World
The backbone of Nexus Anima’s mythos are the Sovereigns. They are mighty beings tied to primal forces like Order, Chaos, Light, and Infinity. After the cataclysm known as the Sundering, many Sovereigns transitioned into their new roles as Novarchs, setting the stage for a world divided between rebirth, betrayal, and survival.
- Victus – Once the First Sovereign, a towering figure of Order and Chaos who has defeated the World-Ender countless times. Now the Novarch of Order, his legacy looms over all.
- Kumyo Kyo – Master of Reality and Illusion. Already loved for his parasol and resemblance to Genshin’s Traveler, he vanished after sealing the World-Ender.
- Amstradath – The Oni-styled Sovereign of Life and Death. He forged the Pact of Rebirth with the World-Ender, a deal that may hold the secret to immortality.
- Armand – The Sovereign of Light and Dark who became the 17th Novarch of Darkness after imprisoning his Light half. Now cursed and desperate for a cure.
- Apeiron – Wielding Infinity and Finity, she was believed dead until resurfacing after the Sundering, half black hair, half white hair, and endless mysteries.
- Prabhas – The Sunfire Monk turned Novarch of Light, currently trapped by Armand’s curse.
- Blade – Yes, that Blade from Honkai: Star Rail, also known as Bladdie. Now the 22nd Novarch of “The Peak,” still hunting for answers tied to a missing Sovereign.
- Parayaya – The pink-haired contrast of cute looks and cruel purpose. Once the Sovereign of Love and Hate, now Novarch of Hate, hunting the World-Ender with the Phoenixbreaker faction.
- Sir Champion – Firefly, is that you? A mysterious armored warrior who became the Novarch of Competition itself. Runs the Amphitheater’s Grand Championship, face hidden from all.
The Normal Animasters – Your Everyday Heroes (and Rivals)
To slightly balance out the godlike Sovereigns you can also have the colorful normal Animasters! Those are the trainers, rivals, and allies who bring Nexus Anima closer to that Pokémon-inspired vibe. They feel like the young trainers, you join in for an unforgettable journey!
- Nanafey – A sweet student who offers the player shelter, making you feel warmth and kindness in Iia.
- Hua – Our personal favorite! A hot-blooded competitor with spiky blue hair and street style, chasing Amphitheater glory.
- Cassio Rollex – Named after a watch, this Cowboy has it all! He brags about defeating his superior, though it is probably just talk.
- Maple Manybell – Eccentric and oddly detached, this pink-dressed Deputy Arena Master may not even realize how important she is.
- Kiana – Casual clothes, silver braid, and a cheery mascot companion, she is on a mission with the Committee for a Joyful Iia! It is also not the first time we see her in the HoYoverse universe, as she is part of Honkai Impact 3rd!
What This Means for Nexus Anima
With all these characters we can already expect the game to expand over various myths, betrayals, and also fun and lighthearted adventures. Nexus Anima is already setting itself apart from traditional monster-battling RPGs. Instead of faceless rivals or nameless champions, the game is revealing a cast that feels both legendary and personal.
