Currency Wars Could Be Honkai: Star Rail’s First True Endgame Mode

The Version 3.6 Special Program just wrapped up, and it surprised everyone with a teaser for a brand-new game mode coming in 3.7. While no one really saw it coming, sharp-eyed fans might remember it was hinted at in some old leaks. Here’s a quick breakdown of what we know so far!

A New TCG is Coming?

As the livestream wrapped up, HoYoverse dropped a short trailer that instantly caught the community off guard. The teaser revealed Currency Wars, a brand-new game mode seemingly designed with endgame players in mind. From the brief footage shown, the interface gives off strong TCG vibes.

The premise is simple: build a 10-person team and take down waves of enemies. So far, there’s no sign of PvP, as only PvE monsters appeared in the trailer. Given HoYoverse’s well-known stance against adding PvP to their games, it’s safe to assume this mode will stick to PvE as well.

What really stands out are the team-based buffs. In one screenshot, most of the characters came from the Luofu, except Sunday. This hints that bonuses might be tied to character relationships or factions. So we could see Astral Express members powering each other up in battle!

Another interesting detail is the split between front-row and back-row characters. It’s not clear yet how this will affect gameplay. Will back-row units serve as support? Or maybe off-field characters will only provide passive boosts? For now, it’s all speculation until HoYoverse shares more.

Finally, Currency Wars appears to be set to include weekly rewards and seasonal events, according to a leak that surfaced immediately after the livestream. Whether these rewards will consist of Stellar Jades remains unconfirmed, but fans are already buzzing with anticipation.

We Knew About It a Year Ago!

One of the funniest twists in all this is that Currency Wars was actually leaked over a year ago. At the time, most players dismissed it as fake. But now, it turns out those old rumors were spot on. The new leak lines up perfectly with what was shown in the livestream, giving it a lot more credibility.

Gameplay-wise, this mode seems quite different from the standard formula. Characters won’t be able to use Normal Attacks or regain Skill Points through them. Instead, they’ll gain special effects based on their Path and faction. A full list of buffs was included in the leak, so if you’re curious about the details, it’s worth checking out!

Interestingly, this isn’t the only time Currency Wars popped up in leaks. About two months ago, another leak mentioned that Feixiao, Seele, and Mydei were used as test characters. But in the latest livestream teaser, we spotted some fresh faces, such as Jingyuan and Firefly, suggesting the roster is already expanding.

The leak also claimed that “characters will have unique kits,” and that seems to be true. Firefly, for example, showcases brand-new animations that closely resemble the SAM boss version!

This is huge news for players. It signals fresh twists to the turn-based formula and adds a much-needed layer of variety. If HoYoverse follows through, Currency Wars could breathe new life into the game with content that’s both challenging and genuinely exciting.
