Mists of Pandaria sees its Phase 2 content hitting the PTR today, with several new features coming to the game, such as the Brawlers Guild and the Krasarang Wilds Campaign. In addition to these new features, leveling experience has been greatly increased, as well as plenty of quality of life improvements for upgrading gear.
MoP Classic: Landfall PTR Development Notes
Welcome to the Mists of Pandaria Classic Landfall public test realm (PTR).
This 5.5.1 patch will include the Krasarang Wilds campaign, item level upgrades, the next chapter of the Legendary questline, Brawler’s Guild, new scenarios, additional improved textures, and increased leveling rates.
Please note that some of these features are not available for test yet, and will be added to the PTR over the next few weeks.
Available Features
Zone Update: Krasarang Wilds Campaign
- Tensions rise between the Alliance and the Horde as they each summon their fleets to the shores of Krasarang WIlds.
- Players will help establish new bases on the shores, battle over resources in the zone, and earn favor with Operation: Shieldwall or the Dominance Offensive via daily quests.
- To begin this questline:
- You should be pushed the quest “Meet the Scout”. From there, seek out your faction’s scout in Krasarang Wilds.
- If necessary to begin the quest, seek out Sunwalker Dezco on the upper terrace of Shrine of Two Moons, or Lyalia on the upper right terrace of Shrine of Seven Stars.
Brawler’s Guild
- Test your skills and show off your encounter expertise at the Brawler’s Guild!
- Once you join the guild via a Blood-Soaked Invitation, you’ll be able to queue up to battle a boss one-on-one in the arena. You’ll also watch other players and see how they fare against the different encounters.
- In patch 5.5.1, Brawler’s Guild will have Ranks 1-7, and 28 bosses available.
- To join the Brawler’s Guild:
- Go to Flaskataur in one of the major cities.
- Purchase a Blood-Soaked Invitation.
- Horde: Go to the Brawl’gar Arena in the northern part of Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar.
- Alliance: Go to Bizmo’s Brawlpub in the bottom floor of the Deeprun Tram in Stormwind. (Take the ramp to the left of the entrance.)
- Interact with a Bouncer and choose the option “Yes, sign me up for a fight!”
- Note: The Blood-Soaked Invitation is easily accessible to help with testing in the Beta. Once patch 5.5.1 is live, it will be available via Black Market Auction House, and specific rare mobs in Krasarang Wilds.
New Scenarios
- There are five new scenarios in patch 5.5.1.
- Available to both factions: Assault on Zan’vess, A Little Patience, Dagger in the Dark
- Alliance Only: Lion’s Landing
- Horde Only: Dominance Point
- You can queue for these new scenarios through the Scenarios section of the Group Finder.
- Additionally, A Little Patience and Dagger in the Dark are part of the Alliance and Horde Krasarang Wilds Campaign.
Item Upgrades
- Players can upgrade their PvP and PvE items up to 8 item-levels on each piece.
- To upgrade your gear, speak with the additional Ethereal NPC located near most Transmogrification and Reforging NPCs.
New Changes in Patch 5.5.1
Player versus Player
- The Group Finder now has its own dedicated PvP listing, with cross realm functionality.
- This is located under the Group Finder → Dungeons & Raids tab → Premade Groups → PvP button.
- PvP Honor and Conquest Vendors are now back in their original places located on the Serpent’s Spine.
- The Arena Ladder brackets now each have their own set of achievements for Gladiator and Malevolent Gladiator.
- For example, if you are Malevolent Gladiator in 3v3 and Gladiator in 2v2, you will now get two Achievements, One that says Malevolent Gladiator (2v2) and another that shows Gladiator (3v3).
- A new title is being introduced this Arena Season to reward players who somehow manage to get Malevolent Gladiator in 2v2, 3v3, AND 5v5 in a single-season: Undisputed Gladiator.
Item Upgrades
- Upgrading Rare Quality PvP gear 8 item-levels now costs 1000 Honor Points (was 1500).
- Upgrading Rare Quality Dungeon gear 8 item-levels still costs 750 Justice Points.
- Upgrading Epic Quality PvP gear 4 item-levels now costs 1500 Honor Points (was 750 Conquest Points).
- This means it takes 3000 Honor to fully upgrade an Epic Quality PvP item instead of 1500 Conquest Points.
- Upgrading Epic Quality PvE gear 4 item-levels now costs 1000 Justice Points (was 250 Valor Points).
- This means it takes 2000 Justice to fully upgrade an Epic Quality PvE item instead of 500 Valor Points.
- The updates to upgrades helps players feel like they can play and gear multiple specs, and aren’t punished for having spent their Conquest or Valor Points in other places.
Experience and Reputation
- The Blacktalon Quartermaster now offers a new Grand Commendation at Revered reputation. When consumed, your account gains a permanent increase to reputation gains for The Black Prince faction for all characters on the account.
- The Experience bonus gained by level 85-90 characters has been increased from 10% to 65%.
- This results in players requiring the same amount of raw experience to level as patch 5.4.8.
