The director of Monster Hunter Wilds, Yuya Tokuda, has shared a new message with players ahead of the game’s big update, Version 1.011, which arrives on May 28. In it, he thanks everyone for their support and outlines what’s coming in the update, and there’s a lot to be excited about!

Street Fighter 6 Collaboration: Akuma Joins the Hunt

One of the biggest highlights of the update is a special collaboration with Street Fighter 6. Hunters will be able to unlock a full Akuma armor set and a layered version of the same look, letting them channel the iconic fighter in the wilds. Wearing the gear will give you access to three special moves: Assisted Combo: Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken.

Drive Impact builds up over time and, if you’re wearing the full Akuma set, hitting monsters in the right spot will unleash Shun Goku Satsu, complete with stunning power. All of these moves can be added to your shortcuts for quick access mid-hunt.

New 8★ Tempered Monsters

Hunters looking for a challenge will be happy to know that more 8-star tempered monsters are being added, including Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. These powerful versions unlock at Hunter Rank 41 and up, offering more options than just fighting Arkveld at this difficulty. Expect tougher battles, as these monsters come with higher health, better resistance, and improved scaling for multiplayer.

Quest and Balance Improvements

Version 1.011 also improves quest variety and pacing. As your Hunter Rank increases, you’ll see more high-difficulty quests and better odds for finding tough tempered monsters.

In terms of weapons, several have been rebalanced. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun have all received changes. Some stats were increased, others tweaked down. The goal, according to Tokuda, is to expand how each weapon can be used.

The Hammer will get even more improvements in Title Update 2, which arrives this summer. Other weapons like the Dual Blades are also on the dev team’s radar for future updates.

Quality of Life and Gameplay Tweaks

This update makes the game more convenient to play in a number of ways:

  • Resting at the Grand Hub and Suja now restores broken pop-up camps.
  • Items picked up with a full pouch now go straight to your box. No more confirmation prompts.
  • Meal timers now give you a clearer countdown before they run out.
  • Notifications are getting a cleanup, with fewer interruptions and more clarity.

Multiplayer, camera behavior, and map controls are also being smoothed out, with more polish to come in the summer update.

New Features and Endemic Life Viewing

Hunters will also get a better way to view the endemic life they’ve collected. From the Windward Plains’ Ecological Research area, you can see the name, size, and even weight of the creatures and fish you’ve found. Now you can also favorite them to keep your collection intact even if you go over storage limits.

Meanwhile, your Seikret and handler will now keep a better distance during hunts, and Photo Mode is getting upgrades, including character visibility toggles.

Steam Version and Game Stability

PC players will benefit from improved VRAM usage and crash fixes, especially on the Steam version. The team is continuing to improve game performance and plans to expand texture streaming in the future.

What’s Coming Next?

Looking beyond this update, Tokuda teased even stronger monsters coming in future patches, including more 8-star tempered and Arch-tempered monsters. A new system tied to rewards and skill-building equipment is also in the works.

Title Update 2, arriving this summer, will bring layered weapons, more balance changes, and UI improvements like easier skill detail access. Players can expect even more quality updates and new content moving forward!
