The recent news of New World: Aeternum officially being taken offline from all platforms on January 31, 2027 has been spreading like wildfire. So much so that public offers have been made directly on X to purchase the game and keep it alive.
The most notable offer made on X this far is from Alistair McFarlane (COO & Company Director, Facepunch), where he posted, “25m, final offer”. He followed up this offer with another post stating, “Games should never die.”
Whether or not Amazon will respond to McFarlane is still up in the air, but it’s clear by reading the thread that the MMO community is greatly in support of this deal.
Players, developers, and the MMO industry as a whole are adding their thoughts and support to the offer. One of the recent supportive replies came directly from John “Bucky” Buckley (Global Community Manager, Pocketpair), where he even offered to “go halfs” if they “release the original NW alpha as a separate game mode.”
Stay tuned on more updates on the future of New World: Aeternum.
