Amazon Games has officially announced the launch of season 9 in New World: Aeternum, the Season of the Banner. Here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming season, including its release date, new features and updates, and what players can expect as they enter Aeternum.

New World Season 9 Release Date

Season 9 of New World: Aeternum will officially kick-off on July 29, 2025. This new season, known as the “Season of the Banner”, will be the latest major update for New World, and is named after one of the newest additions being added to the game – an PvP-oriented Capture the Flag mode.

New PvP “Capture the Flag” Game Mode

The release of this new PvP “Capture the Flag” mode will be the primary highlight of Season 9 and will actually be launched with two unique maps that will cycle throughout the season: the Frozen Pass and the Forbidden City (in a 50/50 rotation).

Within the Capture the Flag mode, players can expect class flag-capturing chaos with a New World spin to it. Be sure to check out some of our New World PvP builds to get ready for the fun!

What About Seasonal Worlds?

New World: Aeternum launched a total of two seasonal worlds thus far. The first being an “Always-on” PvP server, and the second being a “Hardcore” server. The community quickly (and efficiently) shared their thoughts on the approach to seasonal worlds, and overall were not a fan of how it divided the populations of limited server sizes further and further, and it seems like the team hear them loud and clear.

AGS confirmed in their recent news post that seasonal worlds will NOT return in Season 9 and are not planned for future seasons.
