On October 28, 2025, Amazon announced that New World: Aeternum is going to be shutting down their servers in the near future. The day before (October 27, 2025), there were over 41,000 players online concurrently on PC (via Steam Charts). Two weeks later (November 10, 2025), there was a peak of about 6,000 players.
Although the servers for New World: Aeternum was said to be online throughout 2026, there is very little morale across the New World community to log in with the end in sight.

Since this announcement, there was already a round of server merges due to the drastic lack of population, and there is yet another round of server mergers that were just announced.
Pangea will be merging into Valhalla, making it the only US-East server left.
Aries and Bifrost will be merging into Nysa, making it the only EU server left.
This means that there will be six servers in total left, one per region (US-East, US-West, EU, AP, SA, and then one PS-only server).
These servers will merge into their new homes on Friday, November 21 at 10 AM PT.
As servers continue to consolidate and the player base continues to dwindle down, players are quickly losing more and more incentive to log in, and many are starting to explore new games to try and find a new “home”.
